Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Morning wenches.

Strange isn’t it Wicked? Happens to my clothes too. Very mysterious.

Sounds about right Fancy re private gritting.

Snow on the road seems to have mostly gone, and it’s not quite as dark as usual. Oooooo. And it’s Friday!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2023 07:58

Morning all. Last night was fab, but we all had rather late nights because the Manshapes were also out at a nearby concert. <grabs handful of matchsticks and a Brew >

Clear and cold out. We may have had an overnight frost, or it may still be that the last few days haven't melted yet - hard to tell. Either way, the ground is solid underfoot, and icy. I've also been up a ladder flipping over some shed felting that has come loose. Next step is to see if we have any spare parts, otherwise a trip to the local builders merchants is in the offing.

Idiot Kitty is being a chirrupy idiot - bored and doesn't want to go out to play. but bored. Like having a toddler really.

<eye roll> at Fancy's selective gritting - that would be for the benefit the the 'Chelsea tractor' drivers who should, theoretically, have the least need for the grit anyway (if they know how to drive their cars on ice).

Hope everywench has a good day, stays warm, and their closthes stop shrinking - v. inconvenient.

FancyFancy · 20/01/2023 13:28

Afternoon.

I'd be surprised at them knowing how to drive on ice helen as they struggle with parking restrictions and knowing the rules for who has right of way.......

I only had a little ice on my car this morning - hurrah! And the day is 40 minutes longer than the shortest day, which I am seeing the full benefit of as it's sunny here.

ApricotCrush · 20/01/2023 17:25

Afternoon. I went out to do a few jobs this morning and it did feel a bit less cold. The snow has almost gone now.

I’ve got a dodgy tooth that’s been sensitive to hot and cold for some time and now it’s painful to eat on. It’s loose anyway and will have to come out but my dentist is abroad and I don’t want anyone else dealing with it. He won’t be back for three weeks, hope I can hold on till then. Hmm

Shock at Helen up a ladder in this weather.

Grin at shrinking clothes and yay for lighter afternoons.

LetUsPrey · 20/01/2023 19:58

Evening wenches.

Shit of a day but the week’s done so hurrah for that.

<drags crash mats out for Helen’s ladder climbing adventures>

Nice sky on the way home, definitely getting lighter.

Was thinking I might do bath’n’book but then I’ve remembered I put a wash on. Urgh.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/01/2023 06:13

On the train to Gothenberg for a conference, had to get up at 5 😱

Hope all wenches has a lovely weekend 🍷

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2023 08:17

Morning wenches l

5 Wicked?! No need for that. Safe and happy travels and hope the conference is worth the early start.

Looks very icy outside. Have to take DS2 for his new glasses and then I’m going to the craft shop for yarn. I may be a while.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2023 11:26

Morning all. I thought I'd posted last night but obvs. not. No need for crash mats, I mean, it's a fairly big shed as garden sheds go, but it is just a garden shed. And I'm glad I flipped the felt back down because we had rain on and off yesterday.

So far today I've had a lie-in (complete with those irritating dreams where I wake up and hear someone in the house, but actually I'm still asleep. FFS.) and now the washing is on, and so is the dishwasher. I managed to remember that I put porridge on to soak yesterday, so now I'm having a thick bowl of creamy porridge, thinking about trying to move a shrub, if the ground is diggable. But also thinking that my back's a bit stiff already, without going all out with a spade.

Also, watched Banshees of Inishirin last night, which was good, but... odd. Not quite sure what it was all about to be honest, it was one of those endings where you go - is that it? Now what? Unless I missed something, which is possible.

[ouch] to apricot's tooth and [bleugh] to Wicked's early start. Hope that optician and yarn shopping go well for LetUs, and that fancy goes for a nice walk (because it's walking weather here atm, so I'm projecting potential activities on her Grin )

Idiot kitty appears to be in a food coma. Lucky kitty. In other news, my laptop is being and arse and the internet driver keep crashing, FMLaptop.

Have a good day all!

ApricotCrush · 21/01/2023 17:50

Afternoon. Nice morning but it suddenly went very foggy at lunchtime and so it got dark early. Confused

DH is driving me mad about internet speeds which are rubbish or non-existent in some parts of the house. He had a guy from Virgin Media in yesterday and has been trying out his suggestions all day together with lengthy explanations to me about hubs and splitter cables and boosters and all sorts and I really don’t need to know. He keeps pinching my phone and iPad to check the speeds on them. Aaaarrgghh!

Hope WW is enjoying her conference and LetUs got the yarn she wanted.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2023 18:59

LOL Aprcot - we have a booster in the house here - it's works by magic through the wiring somehow Confused

No fog here - lots of lovely sunshine. I even had washing on the life and it got a bit drier there! I didn't dig up any plants though.

Tonight we are going to finish Dark Materials and start The Last of Us - DS has played the game, so will probably drop spoilers left right and centre.

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2023 20:49

Evening wenches.

Yarn shopping was very successful. I finished the blanket today. Hurrah! Next project is for a dog which means I can put off starting the cardigan for myself

Athos had said to leave the crash mats out Helen but if you’re sure they won’t be needed ….. Grin

I remember dropping DS1 off in halls that first time. DH and I were shifting all his stuff in, I was making his bed, he was setting up his pc and the first thing he did was check internet speed. He decided he was definitely staying after that Grin

I’ve finished series 1 of Downton. Would have carried on except they’ve only got the first episode of series 2 and then it jumps to episode 9 (I think) of series 5. Fortunately one sister has the first four series on DVD and another sister might have the rest, or NiceColleague thinks she might have it too. What a pain though.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2023 08:40

Morning wenches! It's a scenic one today - powder blue sky and small fluffy clouds up high, then some grey clouds on the horizon all lined with gold/fading to silver. Topped off with a healthy dose of hoar frost all over. Though the clouds are thickening now and it looks like a mist is coming in so it's getting a bit gloomier now.

This morning I have intelligent cat purring on me for a change - mainly because I haven't let her upstairs yet. Devious kitty has pinched the remains of her breakfast (which was 'out of reach' (Yeah, right) on the worktop) and then chirruped his way outside to see if any of his feathery/furry little friends would like start (and end) their day by being eaten.

Good point re. the crash mat LetUs Grin I've wiped it down and left it for the next interested party.

Morning wenches.

Hmmm Helen, interesting Grin

You have some beautiful skies where you are. We seem mostly to just have sky.

I’ve a wash on and should get a start on the ironing. Or I could watch tv.

ApricotCrush · 22/01/2023 17:41

Evening. Mainly cloudy and cold here.

DS came round this afternoon with his DC. Had a bit of an accident. DGS2 grabbed my hand and pulled me across the room as he does. I tripped, fell headlong and hit my head on the radiator. Blood everywhere. Shock. DH tried to clean me up but I’ve still got pinkish hair all down the back. Hmm

I’ve now got a cat on me trying to push the iPad away so she can get all my attention. Grin

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2023 18:57

Evening wenches.

Oh blimey Apricot! The HBF doctors, in particular Doctor Enys, insist on looking after you. Take it easy.

Usual Sunday with additional very lengthy bath.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2023 22:23

<Paging Doctor Enys, +1>
Hope you're feeling ok Apricot - head wounds are a sod for bleeding everywhere Sad

Today I have been out at SportingActivity with DH, then shopping, and now I'm going to do Wordle followed by bed.

Morning wenches l

Daaaarrrkk after it had seemed to be not as dark at this time.

Monday can already get in the bin.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2023 08:24

Morning wenches. Monday again <le sigh>

Another cold one outside, though no hoar frost today. One of those mornings where the sunrise isn't anything overly special, but the western sky lights up in pink and peach. Eastern clouds are currently purply-grey lines with silvery gold.

Idiot Kitty has had cuddles and is now flomped onto a beanbag.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 23/01/2023 09:45

Morning, heading off to FancyMan's in a bit - very frosty here but may head out for a walk. Better get moving!

ApricotCrush · 23/01/2023 16:06

Afternoon. Nice sunny day but still some snow hanging around.

Doctor Enys was a great help thank you. <ylt>

Hope Fancy enjoyed her walk.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 23/01/2023 18:51

Poor you Apes, hope you feel better now ❤️

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2023 19:18

Evening wenches.

IdiotKitty knows where it’s at. I’d like to flomp on a beanbag. I’d likely take a while to be able to get up.

Hope you enjoyed your walk Fancy and have a great time with FancyMan.

Warmed up a little here thankfully. Work was absolutely crackers and I’m quite tired.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2023 20:33

Evening all.

Had a fairly bitty & annoying day, work-wise. IdiotKitty followed up flomping on the beanbag with flaking out on an armchair, and then being a little ball of kitty on our bed. He's probably still doing that one just now.

Hope that Fancy had a good walk. I did more laundry, but it clouded over and wasn't drying weather outside. <le sigh>

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/01/2023 07:27

Morning wenches.

IdiotKitty has definitely got it sussed.

Very dark again this morning which is not the arrangement at all as it had been getting a bit lighter of a morning. I’d like to speak to someone in charge about this please.

Tuesday eh? Completely necessary is it? I suppose it is. Onwards and upwards <tae> - Wench Motto.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/01/2023 07:56

Morning all. I'll be joining you in the queue to complain about the dark mornings LetUs - though it was light enought that I could go out and feed the chickens as soon as DS left, despite the sky being made up of solid grey cloud cover this morning.

I don't know what MN is doing these days, but the desktop version eats computer memory. It was killing my entire browser yesterday and slowing the whole computer down. Confused
