Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Morning wenches.

Happy New Year wenches!

Bit soggy here. Visiting to do this morning and then I think I shall knit, or possibly read.

FancyFancy · 01/01/2023 13:59

I'm not much better ww 😂- an evening of lazy food, TV and cuddling up to FancyCat. Until the fireworks went off. And the bagpipes started up Hmm at which point she hid under the sofa. She was lucky to still be in the room - the cheeky madam had been trying to eat stilton off my plate.

ApricotCrush · 01/01/2023 16:41

Afternoon, and Happy New Year wenches.

We went to bed at 10.30 but I was still awake at midnight and they had fireworks over the road. I couldn't be bothered to get out and look at them. Misty wasn't very happy but it didn't go on for long. No bagpipes here thank goodness.

DH is much better thanks, but I'm still dragging myself around.

I'm knitting in front of the last log fire of the season while DH watches yet more football. Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/01/2023 17:46

Evening all. It's been dry here today for one, and I have had a tiring day of hedge-planting, and entertaining a 4yo. I'm not sure which one has tired me out the most! I heard fireworks last night, but also couldn't be bothered to try and see where they were. I know that one of the neighbouring villages had a big display.

Why is this you last log fire Apricot? (we're about to light one I think).

Hope that everyone's getting better <lobs drugs about the Tav>.

Evening wenches.

Have done new year visiting. Poor LovelyMIL isn’t well. She usually very “up” even if she’s feeling a bit off colour but she looked and sounded not great today. I’ve been fairly sneezy today but I’m hoping it’s more down to allergies/irritation than a cold.

Shock at FancyCat trying to sneak some Stilton off your plate Fancy!

Good news that MrApricot is feeling better. Hope you are too soon Apricot. Am also knitting - the never ending blanket.

Not sure whether I’d prefer the hedge stuff or the four year old Helen.

My very late night/early morning is catching up with me so I might try for an early night then I can properly enjoy tomorrow.

LetUsPrey · 02/01/2023 08:54

Morning wenches.

Seems dry here. Am watching Knives Out, the film from a few years ago. Don’t have Netflix to watch the next thing.

No proper plans for today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/01/2023 10:09

LOL at stilton-robbers - KillerKitty would do the same given the chance.

Today seems clear and sunny, so we're planning a walk with a friend later. (DH has only just emerged.)

Hope the LetUsMiL is better soon. DH spoke to his mother last night, and she asked if we were going to see the new year in Confused Also, 4yo vs hedge - the 4yo is cuddlier and adorable and generally more interesting; the hedge is less demanding (you can put the plants down and gaze vacantly into space for a few minutes without it chattering to you :D )

I must do some house tidying today - Christmas carnage is still scattered about. I can get rid of some packaging now that certain presents have been tried out, and don't need to be returned.

Afternoon. Nice day but I haven't been out. To be honest I need to do some food shopping but I dread having a coughing fit in the middle of Sainsbury's. They're so violent I'd clear the place. Grin

I've done some tidying today, got the dining room back to normal.

We only have the fires for the Christmas week Helen. We've never bought any logs, they're all our own from trees which have died or been lopped, but it's hard work chopping them for the week then laying the fire and cleaning it out every day, so we don't bother any other time. When we've finished with them we put insulation up the chimney to stop draughts. I say 'we' but all I do is chuck the odd log on. Hmm They are nice though.

Bit worrying about the MILs. Hope they're alright.

LetUsPrey · 02/01/2023 18:43

Evening wenches.

<cwtch> re your MIL Helen.

I think I’m leaning more towards the hedge at the moment Grin

Your cough does sound awful Apricot, you poor thing. <restocks honey and lemon>

Have knitted today using a technique I’d not used before. The finished thing looks like a baby item but it doesn’t look like the one on the pattern. Question is can I do it wrong exactly the same way again? Am rather cross at myself for not being able to do it right and spending hours on it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/01/2023 19:37

Evening all.

Congratulations on your new knitting technique LetUs - hopefully you can replicate it. It's annoying though, when stuff doesn't do what you planned.

Today's walk was nice, but far more tiring that it should have been. I did a bit of tidying at home, but mostly lazing about and feeling tired. Now I have a headache and need an HBF early night.

Evening. DD and I are mid way through a TM double header <snerk> just watched The Return and now for Though a Glass Darkly. FancyCat is happily snoozing between us.

I hope you are feeling better soon apricot and your MIL is ok letus. My sympathies re your MIL too Helen, must be especially hard for MrHelen.

FancyMan has been round today, went for a walk as it was nice weather and then he helped me prep for the decorator who starts later this week.

LetUsPrey · 03/01/2023 07:38

Morning wenches. Daaaaarrrrkkk. Properly dark.

Hope the headache’s gone Helen.

DH spoke to LovelyMIL and said she sounded much better. Hope he’s right.

Walks and TM sounds perfect Fancy.

Have good days everywench.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/01/2023 11:14

Morning wenches. FMHeadache, other than it gave me an excuse to go back to bed and lie in until 10:30. Have just drugged up again and going to look at work. <rummages around for anything even vaguely resembling enthusiasm>

Glad that LetUsMiL is sounding better. Hurrah for snoozy cats, double-headers and walks at Chateau Fancy. Hope the decorating goes well. Hope that apricot and MrA are improving, and that wicked <scrolls back...> has survived NYE!

ApricotCrush · 03/01/2023 16:25

Afternoon. Rain all day.

I did the food shop at Lidl and took DH with me so I could run off if I had a coughing fit. Of course I didn't. Hmm It also cost more than usual as DH got lost in the aisle of randomness and bought some rubbish stuff that might come in useful.

I'm intrigued about the new knitting technique LetUs.

Ooo at decorator Fancy. Are you going for a new look or just freshening everything up?

Hope the headache has gone Helen and WW is alright.

FancyFancy · 03/01/2023 18:08

Afternoon, have been out bra shopping. Sadly the one that fitted the best wasn't in the sale in my size <harrumphs> however, it wasn't too expensive so I'm fairly happy.

Glad to hear of recovering wenches and Mail's, hope the headache has fucked off "Helen*

The decorating is just going to be a refresh apricot, looking to do about 2/3 of the house this month but am leaving most of the bedrooms for a bit longer.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/01/2023 21:01

Evening all.

Headache did FTFO thank goodness. Tomorrow I have the joy of BoringOfficeJob which means I need to peel my arse off the sofa and make a packed lunch. Hopefully the weather will improve for tomorrow's commute, because it's been nothing but rain and wind and sullen grey clouds all day. Also, DS is back to school. Tomorrow morning is going to be carnage!

Boo to the right size not being in the sale Fancy, and <arf> at the aisle of randomness purchases Grin

LetUsPrey · 03/01/2023 21:16

Evening wenches.

It was double pointed needles Apricot which I’ve decided are evil.

Good news re lack of coughing whilst out shopping, although Grin at MrApricot getting waylaid in the middle of Lidl.

I think I’m going to have to brave a bra fitting some time soon Fancy. Either that or lose some weight - not sure which will be easiest to achieve. And both options are more attractive than the other thing of decorating which DH keeps mentioning. No, no thank you.

DS2 also back tomorrow. Fun fun fun.

Is Wicked still hungover from being out partying on NYE? I know what you’re like Wicked Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/01/2023 07:16

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark. It's pitch black outside wenches. Why is getting up even legal in these conditions?

To dark to feed chickens yet, so I'm eating porridge. Idiot kitty has been out in the windy darkness (so it's probably not raining or he wouldn't have been out to start with) and has just come in for food.

Have a good day all. (I wonder if I can remember my passwords for work...)

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/01/2023 07:21

Alternative option: it's just started to rain, which is why the furry idiot is now on a windowsill with his nose pressed to the glass, chirruping at the world. "Make it stooooop, I need to go and kill things!"

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 04/01/2023 07:29

Morning wenches.

So very dark here too.

For goodness sake Helen, most unreasonable of you not to control the weather for IdiotKitty.

DS2 back to school today so he’s up with no problem and being super pleasant. Parts of that sentence are a lie.

ApricotCrush · 04/01/2023 18:06

Evening. I really hate the dark mornings, but they should begin to improve from tomorrow although there's a long way to go.

LetUs, I've only used the double pointed needles for round the neck when the shoulder seams have been sewn up, but you really don't know where you are with them. Hmm

Hope school has been alright for the returnees.

We're watching Marie Antoinette on the iPlayer in the evenings. It's in the same vein as Versailles and it's good.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/01/2023 19:03

You know me too well Letus Grin I stayed up until 10.30!!! 🥳

Crap day at work, yuk.

LetUsPrey · 04/01/2023 20:50

Evening wenches.

You’re such a wild thing Wicked! Grin

I won’t be using them again in a hurry Apricot. Thought I was doing well because I’d got the hang of circular needles. I’ve started Marie Antoinette too. Only watched the first episode but I enjoyed it a lot.

DS2 had a good first day back. Already got plenty of homework.

LetUsPrey · 05/01/2023 07:39

Morning wenches.

Dark etc.

This getting up and going to work thing is getting quite boring now. I suppose DS2 feels the same about school. Tough.

What is it today? Thursday? Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/01/2023 07:45

Morning all. Mot as dark today since there's no cloud cover. The sun is starting to come up and there's a few clouds on the horizon going pinky-orange.

I haven't been outside yet.

Idiot Kitty is being idiot kitty (chirruping at the window again) pacing about wondering what to kill, etc.

Also, I agree about getting up and going to work being boring - and I don't even have to go anywhere most days.
