Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Morning all. Rain/sun/rain/sun etc.
We start homewards again today, roads look clear so far... (cue traffic armageddon!)

Lovely news re new baby Letus, congratulations. Is he totally squidgy?

Oh no Apes, I really hope you haven't got the same lurgy as me, it's brutal. I spent several hours in a&e yesterday as I couldn't breathe and my finger tips went blue. Several hours clinging to a hard plastic chair because I could barely be upright only to be fobbed off in a less than one minute consultation with "its a virus, go home." Meanwhile, mlleElk went to the local gp and was given some lovely antibiotics.
Hoping the same nurse will do the same for me later.

ApricotCrush · 29/12/2022 17:14

Evening all. Bit miserable here, cold and wet.

Oh Elk, that's terrible, I do hope you've managed to get some antibiotics. I'm not nearly that bad, although I had a terrible night and can't stop coughing now.

The family are here and we're going to have a turkey curry with what's left.

FancyFancy · 29/12/2022 18:03

Afternoon

<cwtches> to elk & apricot, I really hope you're feeling better soon & that you can get some treatment elk

Yay, congrats to Familyletus & glad to hear all are doing well.

I have done practically bugger all today. Bliss. DD & I are having Friday today - so pink fizz, fish & chips and Musketeers this evening Xmas Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/12/2022 18:17

Evening all. Wish I was at Chateau Fancy - that sounds like a very nice evening.

I have had a late xmas present arrive, which doesn't look like what was ordered - le sigh/1st world problems, etc.

Travel home was rather tedious - cross country diversions to avoid problems and 40 minutes in a queue for an unavoidable accident.

IdiotKitten is thoroughly overexcited to have us home and is bombing about, launching himself at anything and everything. I got a toy out for him, to give him a target which he was very enthusiastic about. Does anyone else's cat end up doing 'heavy breathing' with excitement? Weirdo...!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 29/12/2022 18:39

Envy at fish and chips.

Reeeeaaallyyy hard going back to work today.

Hope all ailing wenches gets better soon. The hospitals here is packed with patients with Covid, influensa and RS virus.

LetUsPrey · 29/12/2022 19:07

Evening wenches.

Oh blimey Elk, that sounds totally dreadful. Here’s hoping you’ve had better luck and are on the mend soon.

Hope you get a better night’s sleep Apricot and that MrApricot’s tooth situation has improved. Enjoy your family evening.

What a palaver Helen. So cute of IdiotKitten though.

That sounds a perfect evening Fancy!

Work not fun here either but it stops me snacking, or would do if there weren’t pre-Christmas chocolates still hanging about at the office and I had some degree of willpower.

New baby does indeed look super squidgy Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/12/2022 20:13

Awww at squidgey baby Grin

I am pissed off in a nonspecific way at DH and have put a splosh of rum in my hot chocolate. This may have been a mistake.

We're watching the Death in Paradise Xmas special.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 29/12/2022 20:52

There’s a lot of it about Helen. I have been intermittently cross with DH since I got home. This explains the Pimms on a work night.

Watched Death in Paradise yesterday. Excellent. We’ve got the darts on tonight. Whoop.

LetUsPrey · 30/12/2022 07:31

Morning wenches.

Friiiiddaaayyyyy - I like these short working weeks!

Hope everywench is feeling better.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/12/2022 13:35

Afternoon all. Bloody miserable weather here - cloudy, windy, rainy (on and off).

In good news, I did have a fairly massive lie-in, and even got back to sleep once the chickens and cats were fed, so that was nice.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 30/12/2022 17:02

Afternoon. Miserable here too.

I had another terrible night and DH has got whatever-it-is now. Woe! I've felt worse today than yesterday.

Awww at IdiotKitten, so sweet.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

FancyFancy · 30/12/2022 19:28

Evening. Another lazy day - have pottered around the house & had tea and cake with a neighbour. Doing a little bit of house admin now & then mindless tv with port and stilton later.

Oh no apricot, I hope tomorrow is better for you.

LetUsPrey · 30/12/2022 20:12

Evening wenches. Hurrah for lie in Helen!

Lots of wind and rain here too.

Oh Apricot, poor you and MrApricot. <passes all meds, plenty of fluids, blankets, tissues>

That sounds a pretty amazing day Fancy.

Been to work, came home, am now knitting whilst DH keeps talking at me about the darts I’m watching, not seeming to realise that I don’t care and I’m basically armed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/12/2022 23:40

I typed. Apparenlty I didn't post.

FML. <cwtch> amd <drugs> for everyone ill. Hope that things improve soon SadHurrah for a nice day Fancy, and <snort> at LetUs - armed and dangerous with knitting needles.

I watched 'The Show' tonight, which was as baffling as expected, but quite good. I think I need to re-watch to work out what the end was all about though. (I also need to remember to cancel my Prime trial.)

BloominElk · 31/12/2022 02:52

Oh Apes, I'm so sorry 😞 keep loaded up with paracetamol and brufen and warm drinks...I couldn't face drinking anything earlier on this week and it made me so much worse. Tea tastes weird so hot ribena has been my saviour. Antibiotics have really helped too, now I'm just left with a constant, bloody annoying cough and the legs of a newborn giraffe.

<get better cwtch>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/12/2022 08:46

Oooft, Elk - I hope you got some sleep last night!

I have fed the animals and had an impromptu chicken funeral - more a burial at sea to be honest, with the water table at the moment. Alas poor Indistinguishable-brown-chicken - just had a moult as well. Still, at least she wasn't the one who's started laying again.

I haven't done my physio exercises for a couple of days, so I'm going to do them now instead of going back to bed - penance for slacking.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 31/12/2022 10:14

Morning wenches.

Poor Elk - stay dosed up. <bulk buys ribena for Tav stores>

Severe lack of physio exercises here Helen which probably explains the hurty back, shoulder and hips. RIP chicken.

I’ve got lots of tidying to do. Nothing major but loads of little bits and pieces that I keep putting off.

ApricotCrush · 31/12/2022 16:44

Afternoon wenches. Rain and generally miserable here.

Oh Elk, I've got the annoying cough too and everything smells weird. No appetite. I've done a covid test but it was negative.

We've had DGS here all day. They were going for a long walk with friends and he didn't want to go so.... It's all very well, he's no trouble, but he pinches my iPad and I can't tat about online get anything done. Hmm

Grin at armed and dangerous with knitting needles.

Poor chicken. Sad

FancyFancy · 31/12/2022 18:49

Evening, what a horrible day - did go out to the shops to buy lazy food for tonight - M&S curry basically <drools> and also some intriguing looking curried potatoes & pink fizz. Didn't have the port & stilton yesterday, so having that tonight. Will be a quiet night in on my own until DD gets back from work around midnight, then a nightcap and The Musketeers. DS has just dropped in very briefly to collect a shirt for a party tonight.

Poor chicken Sad helen

Glad you're feeling a bit better today elk. Hot squash is a favourite in this house when illing. I have found a crushed lime & mint cordial - very refreshing & you can kid yourself it's a mojito Xmas Grin

How are you & MrA now apricot?

<gives armedletus a wide berth>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 31/12/2022 20:37

Hope all have a fab New Years Eve, I feel ready to go to bed, I’m such a party animal 😂

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/12/2022 21:56

Evening all. On the party theme...

Have a good night all.

Watching The Pursuit of Love and Perales the Spanish ambassadorhas turned up.

Speaking of TM, lovely doctor was in the trailer at the end of the last episode. I was instantly traumatised 😭

LetUsPrey · 31/12/2022 23:35

Evening wenches. Am out at friends. 80s music and a murder mystery evening. Anywench care to guess who was voted best performer? 😄

Much love to all wenches

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/01/2023 08:44

Morning wenches. It's dry outside - hurrah!

That sounds like a good evening LetUs - we watched Dark Materials and stuff. Then I wandered off to bed. Whoop!

No more chicken funerals needed, and everything is fed, so I'm going to sneak back off to bed.
