Keeping my fingers crossed you see that soon letus! That crash really had me scared, I thought Chris Boardman was so nice and human about it in the commentary, bless him.

Good luck with the shopping helen

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 31/07/2022 13:06

Thought this was rather funny 😂

”Women's football isn't proper football. They don't even scream in agony when someone brushes past them, or roll over six times writhing in pain at a slight accidental contact.”

ApricotCrush · 31/07/2022 17:22

Afternoon. We had DGS for a sleepover last night as his Mum and Dad were going out. Misty was very confused. Hmm

It went very hot and sunny this afternoon, so I thought I'd have a bit of a sunbathe and read, but noooooo, DS phoned and said he was bringing the kids round. I love them and all that, but I was furious as every time I plan an afternoon outside I get thwarted. It looks nice tomorrow but we have DGS for Monday and Tuesday throughout the summer hols so that's out too. DH says he's not missing his golf so i'm on my own until he comes back. DGS doesn't take much looking after but it ties me down. I do sometimes wish we lived on a desert island. Aaaargh!

That's it exactly WW. Grin

Afternoon wenches.

I’m glad I missed today’s crash at the cycling Fancy - it sounded fairly horrible. Caught some triathlon and gymnastics, swimming later.

That’s spot on Wicked Grin

I get exactly where you’re coming from Apricot.

Watching the football. Fortunately DH has decided to watch with me so - phew - he’s on hand to explain things and let me know his opinions on what’s going on!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/07/2022 18:31

Thank goodness you have someone to explain it all LetUs - your poor fluffy brain couldn't cope otherwise Hmm Hmm You can read out Wicked's explanation to him as well, to help him if he gets confused by the lack of histrionics on the pitch.

It's been cloudy and rainy most of today, and horribly muggy. I don't think we've managed a full 1cm though. Certainly not bird-bath weather though - only in the style of one of Fancy's pigeons. Speaking of which, one poor sod got caught by a sparrowhawk along the road today. Mr and Mrs Blackbird are still busy looking after the babies.

You are awesome Apricot - and don't let the DCs or DGCs forget it! Teach the DGCs about the Romans by roleplaying. You get to recline on the sunlounger while they feed you grapes and waft fans over you. Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2022 07:36

Morning all. Mostly cloud this morning. DS is, I hope fully equipped for sports camp thingy, and todays' taxi services are provided by DH in the big car. This means that I get the house to myself, since DH will work from the actual office. I might sneak in a watch of the Neighbours final, aka blast from the past, aka how did we all get so old?! Or I might forget.

LetUsPrey · 01/08/2022 08:20

Morning wenches.

Love your idea Helen that Apricot should do lessons in behaviour in Ancient Rome Grin

Still can’t quite believe we won yesterday!

I’m on leave until Thursday so today is shopping with DC and not much else planned for the rest of the time.

Enjoy Neighbours if you get chance.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2022 09:05

Guess who has an unscheduled trip to SportsCamp to take the stuff that DS forgot, because he swore he didn't need help getting stuff together, and "why don't you trust me?" when he was putting things in bags. Hmm He had the equipment/clothes list printed out to make sure he remembered everything. FFS.

FancyFancy · 01/08/2022 13:25

I think DS needs a Hmm from all of us helen, what a nuisance!

I'm sure that added greatly to your enjoyment letus Grin I watched some of the gymnastics and swimming yesterday as well as the football.

Aw at confused Misty - does she like having extra people round? FancyCat does as it means more chances of food, ScaredyCat was never as keen.

Think you've just about summed it up there ww!

Am working today instead of Wednesday because of my holiday booking - well that's if I get to go. Still coughing a bit but fortunately sneezing less - I'm sure the neighbours are relieved at not being subjected to repeated deafening sneezes.

ApricotCrush · 01/08/2022 17:02

Afternoon. Nice day and managed an hour outside when DH came back from golf. Love the idea of reclining on the sunlounger and being fanned and fed with grapes. Grin

We recorded the footie and watched it last night. Amazing, loved all the celebrations.

Oh no Helen, what a pain.

No Misty isn't keen on other people in the house, she tends to keep out of the way. I have no idea what her previous life was like but from the paperwork we have I think she lived with a single lady in a small bungalow so probably didn't see many people.

Hope you're recovered for your holiday Fancy.

Evening wenches.

Shopping went mostly smoothly. Managed a bit of jigsaw time but it got a bit breezy so came inside. It’s raining again now.

Huge <Paddington hard stare> at MiniHelen.

Everything crossed you feel better very quickly Fancy.

Misty and I have much in common. Not that I used to live with a single lady in a bungalow, more that I’m not that keen on other people Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/08/2022 19:56

Evening all. Turns out that DS didn't need that bit of stuff after all, because half an hour later he'd gone over on his ankle and sprained it. This was during warm up games before he'd got near the main event. F.M.L. It doesn't seem to be too bad - he's on 'rest/ice/elevantion/compression/xbox' and we'll see how it looks on Wednesday morning. Hopefully get him back there before the end of the week for a tiny bit of what was paid for. <le sigh>
On the plus side I had an impromptu canoe session late afternoon which was fun, and involved me hopping into the water to retrieve someone's watch when the strap broken and it fell in Shock

Glad to hear that Fancy's sneezing has eased off and the shopping went ok for LetUs and that Apricot got a bit of time to chill out in the garden.

LetUsPrey · 02/08/2022 07:59

Morning wenches.

Oh Helen, poor MiniHelen! Fingers crossed for a quick recovery so he can get back their and join in.

It’s absolutely tipping it down here so today will be spent tidying DS2’s school stuff with him, baking, and a lot of Commonwealth Games watching.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/08/2022 09:17

Morning all. I have to get up and moving to meet up with a friend for a walk. It's cloudy and windy, but warm so should be fine. Must shift my backside though.

ApricotCrush · 02/08/2022 16:50

Afternoon. Cloudy here, but very warm.

Oh poor MiniHelen, hope he's recovering quickly.

We're going for a meal at the pub later with DD & Co as we have a money-off voucher.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 02/08/2022 20:41

Evening wenches.

How’s MiniHelen today? Recovering quickly hopefully.

The rain lasted until around lunchtime then it’s been mostly sunny but very breezy. Still pleasant enough to sit out and read for a bit and ideal for getting the washing dry. I’ll have to bake again tomorrow as locusts aka DS1 appear to have made short work of today’s baking.

No need to cook and money off Apricot - what’s not to love?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/08/2022 21:30

Evening all.

DS is still hobbling about, so there will be no sporting stuff for him tomorrow either. Sad

It has been bloody roasting today, I'm absolutely melting. I'm sure it wasn't forecast to be this hot. (High 20s - the car said it was 30 coming home from meeting my friends.) I'd go to the beach, except they're probably rammed. I went through one seaside town today which was gridlocked for tourists (but not for locals who know the back routes - cue me doing a 3-point turn and re-routing). Why can't I have some of your rain? Whhhhyyyyy??? <winges>

Hope that Apricot has had a nice meal out. What did you bake LetUs? DH seems to be troughing through the cakes that I cooked here.

Fingers crossed that fancy is improving.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/08/2022 08:01

Morning wenches. It's hot and sunny and I'm hot and bothered and running late due to rescuing one of the baby blackbirds - they have stupidly left their nest and are bumbling about the garden like a little set of cat-canapes 😱KillerKitty is now locked in the house, and not impressed at all.

Have a good day all...

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2022 09:25

Morning wenches.

Oh look, says KillerKitty, here’s the breakfast I ordered.

It’s just flapjacks Helen but they seemed to be well received.

We seem to have warmer weather today and no rain so that’s nice. Perhaps the rain is on its way to where it’s needed.

FancyFancy · 03/08/2022 11:02

Rain Envy the weather is seriously trolling us down here - lots of clouds but no sodding rain, even shrubs in the garden are starting to go crispy now Sad

I decided to not go on the holiday - would feel on edge about passing it on to everyone & possibly buggering up FancyMan's holiday. I'm feeling pretty good, a lingering cough and slightly tired - the holiday was a city break so not exactly relaxing and conducive to recuperating. Probably no bad thing, had a panicky call from DD last night who passed out at work. DS was an utter star and went to collect her & bring her here as she wanted to come home, I then sat up 'til stupid o'clock with her . Am a bit pooped <yawns>.

Fingers still crossed for the blackbird family

ApricotCrush · 03/08/2022 16:42

Afternoon. Lovely day here. I went to town this morning to stock up on stuff and have been in the garden this afternoon.

Silly blackbirds, hope they’re alright.

Shame about your holiday Fancy but it’s probably just as well. DD & Co still don’t feel right three weeks after Covid. Hope your DD is okay.

<sends rain to those in need>

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 03/08/2022 18:48

Hope you and your DD feel better soon Fancy. Too bad about the city break, love those. Where were you going?

FancyFancy · 03/08/2022 19:54

Thanks wenches, feeling pretty ok. That's a good reminder apricot, we all need time to recover from these things.

It was supposed to be Berlin ww, ah well, another time.

How is DS helen?

LetUsPrey · 03/08/2022 21:03

Evening wenches.

Bugger about the holiday Fancy, but you’d have probably come back even more tired and as you say the worry about passing anything on. Eeek about FancyDD <squidge> and well done for FancyDS.

Bit bloody windy here today which was great for the washing and I did manage to get outside on a lounger for a bit when it calmed down. Back to work tomorrow though. Boooooooo.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/08/2022 22:47

Evening all. DS is still hobbling but says it's better and he wants to go and be sporty tomorrow. I think this is a bad idea. We'll see.

No sign of baby birds being eaten (yet) which is good.

Poos to missed holiday, Fancy but at least you were here for FancyDD - and hurrah for DS! I feel your pain re. crispy gardens - I was lugging watering cans about at dusk to keep the veg patch alive.

I didn't ask DH to put the washing on today (he came back from SportingActivity with a slightly sprained wrist last night - FFS at family falling to bits - as long as I'm not next!) so I put washing on when I was back from work and it's draped about inside to dry out.

We're watching Commonwealth highlights - women's weightlifting. Not something I'm massively interested in, but impressive none the less. Ought to go to bed really.
