Am supposed to be going on holiday in 10 days & at the moment that just feels like more stuff to prepare for <sighs>

We had a surprise invitation to go round to DD's last night for a meal. She does a lovely roast and it's always much better when someone else cooks for you.

I have been doing the working thing where you chase someone for weeks for a reply, and then they finally reply and say 'nope'. <le sigh> Also, I've been working though my inbox to deal with all the unread messages. So nothing exciting going on here, though there's been a lot of chainsawing noises today from next door, so I will go for a walk later to do some nosing exercise.

I’ve been more interested in watching this tournament of women’s football than I have recently of watching any men’s football.

Stayed dry today and it’s actually sunny here. Can’t really appreciate it as I feel awful. Have done a Covid test which is negative so is just my usual summer cold which I manage to catch at a similar time every year.

Won’t attempt any knitting which is The Cardigan which every baby in our families has worn since probably the 1950s. Dog coat is done bar the sewing up but I need to fit it to the dog.

Wildlife news - we have blackbirds nesting in the bush by the porch - little tiny ones with huge gaping mouths when they get fed (which is how I noticed them). We're now living in fear that KillerKitty will find them or the mother

Afternoon. No rain yet today, so much washing was done.

Commiserations WW. I did end up watching most of the second half and I agree LetUs, it is better than the men's. No throwing themselves on the ground and rolling in agony, no fouling the opposition, no shouting at the referee. I think I shall watch the final. Hope you get better soon, summer colds are awful.

No rain here. I have lugged watering cans filled from the tap today.

Work was workish. I'm not sure how we can protect the baby birds without scaring the mother away. There doesn't seem to be a father either I've put out water for the mother and only one little beak stuck up when I made a noise close to the nest. I'm hoping that she's not lost the other two already, but if there's only her trying to feed them...

I'm going to do the bath'n'bed thing...
