OMG Wicked - your view is exactly the same as mine!
Grin

FancyFancy · 15/10/2022 20:01

Grin ww

Work was ok - a person who is leaving is being a bit annoying, just not getting much done. The new recruit seems promising so far though.

DD was back for the night yesterday - fish and chips, fizz and Ghosts. Perfect! Have done very little today other than grocery shopping & arranging a present for DDad. Assuming the person making the present doesn't dob me in for possessing a bit of a...erm structure that I probably shouldn't have <looks shifty>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/10/2022 22:12

Oh Fancy - have you been getting drunk and taking home road signs and traffic cones again? Grin

LetUsPrey · 15/10/2022 22:26

Evening wenches.

Lunch was delicious and it was lovely to see DS1 again. Also, there was a yarn shop opposite the café we went to for lunch so bonus! One visit though we will actually get some decent weather (although granted mid-October isn’t going to be toasty). Have had a bath’n’book and am contemplating bed soon.

Gorgeous view Wicked Grin

Your night last night sounds fab Fancy. I’ve got DS2 up to date with Ghosts now.

I’m thinking of which monuments in BigCity have got scaffolding round them and wondering which ones Fancy might have pinched bits of… (feel free to arrange the words so it make sense).

LetUsPrey · 16/10/2022 10:01

Morning wenches.

Slept well for a change and woke up just before 9! So today will be a day full of energy and go getting activity! Or possibly not. It’s sunny though so that helps.

Have super days wenches.

FancyFancy · 16/10/2022 10:18

Morning, quite sunny here, so a day of laundry and weeding.

Did you know me when I was a student Helen?😁

The erm structure was overseas letus....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/10/2022 10:44

Morning all. Also sunny here, and more laundry should be done. <side-eyes DS not having put his PE kit in the wash> One batch of fruit has already been stewed up. I really don't feel like doing anything today other than snoozing on the sofa.

In good news, DS's charging case turned up, so now he just needs pelters for not looking properly.

ApricotCrush · 16/10/2022 16:36

Afternoon, we’re back home. The weather hasn’t been too bad except for Friday.

There’s a lovely wool shop where we go LetUs but I daren’t go in because I really don’t need any more.

We spoke to PC repair man while we were away and he seems to be having trouble finding my pics to back them up. He says he’s found 180, is that it? Errr no, there are over 30,000! Shock. They’re on an external hard drive but that’s not working either. A lot of them are on DVDs but not this year’s. I don’t have much faith in him. Sad I shall go in on Tuesday to see what’s going on. <weeps>

Lovely view WW. Grin

Yay for lovely evening Fancy and HelenDS’s charging case turning up.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/10/2022 18:26

Evening all.

Oh Apricot - that doesn't sound good Sad not even the external drive is working? Sad At least you had a good break.

I've had a late afternoon bath where I giggled my way through some of the latest Caitlyn Moran book, and then had a snooze, but I still have a sodding headache. <cbf> at headache. Then I came down to mooch, and got interrupted by DS announcing that VomitKitty had created work for me upstairs. Turned out to just be a foamy job to clear up, with a house spider innocently wandered out of our bedroom which I had the carpet cleaner out, and retreated in terror into a corner. So them I had to rescue the spider too. And then MN crashed during my first attempt to post this. Exciting stuff eh?!

LetUsPrey · 16/10/2022 19:13

Evening wenches.

Ah yes, the PE kit that stays in the kitbag, sometimes until it’s needed again. Hurrah for the found case though. At least VomKitty keeps you busy?

Eeeeeek at continuing computer issues Apricot. Everything crossed for successful resolution (usual disclaimers apply)

Usual Sunday. Washing, ironing, visiting, knitting, homework wrangling.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/10/2022 08:00

Morning all.

Eeeek! Bit of a chaotic morning so far. I didn't get to sleep until well after midnight last night. Was up late tidying the kitchen, then I couldn't get to sleep. Then this morning my alarm went off and I jumped up in an irritated flap and switched it off because it was the weekend... oops. DS came in 15 minutes before he was due to leave for the bus to find out why I wasn't up and making his breakfast.

Still, we got him out the door, and hopefully this will gice him a prompt to get himself up on time rather than waiting for me to come and crowbar him out of bed. OR he'll decide that he can be up and out in 15 minutes every day, and add to my stress levels that way Confused

Anyway, that was us. It's gloomy and damp outside. It rained last night (which meant that I got up while I couldn't sleep, to make sure that the still-currently-bodged downpipe was coping - it was. Hurrah. Must dig the soakaway out properly though.)

Have a good day all. Fingers crossed for everyone we're waiting for to reply to our emails etc!

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2022 08:41

Morning wenches.

Quite bright here. It’s my last Monday off so I’m going to whizz round doing various bits of housework and then not much else. Open evening at a college for DS2 later. The day would be improved if this headache would fuck off though.

That was DS1’s tactic in a morning Helen. Not stressful at all, no. Well done of the successfully repaired downpipe.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2022 11:31

Now we have another dude as Prime minister. I already miss Magdalena 😥

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2022 16:57

And I'm so embarrassed and horrified about the comment about Anne Frank from a member of the Swedish Democrats nazi party. What will the world think of us Swedes Confused

ApricotCrush · 17/10/2022 18:25

Evening. Nice day but I was too busy doing errands and other stuff to really notice.

The external hard-drive stopped working months ago Helen and like an idiot I didn’t get a new one. Confused Hope your day calmed down, that sounds very stressful.

Good luck with the open evening LetUs and hope the headache buggered off.

Don’t worry WW, I hadn’t even heard about it, and everyone’s probably too interested in what’s going on here to have noticed.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/10/2022 19:35

Evening all.

Not to worry wicked - no-one here is paying any attention, what with the useless excuse for humans that we have over here. Must be massively rubbish for you though.

Finders crossed for college tonight LetUs

My day was relatively chilled after this morning's tail-chasing - hurrah! (Or 'Boo' because I didn't do much and could have spent time doing productive stuff.)

FancyFancy · 17/10/2022 21:21

Evening. A decidedly warm day here, went for a short walk with FancyMan & then he helped me with some stuff for DDad's present. I was walking around in short sleeves for quite a bit of the walk. Trying to look on the bright side - the longer the hot flushes carry on for the longer I can keep my heating off for. I did put it on for a short time on Friday to keep DD from whinging, but had to turn it down (it was only set to 18 degrees Grin ) when I started to overheat.

In today's WTF wildlife moment - I found a newt in my front room this evening Confused It was very cute, but looked spooked. In nicer news, we have a dunnock in the garden, not seen one here before, and big spindly spider is back in my bathroom. I have quite a colony in there this autumn.

I've not seen that ww, sounds crap, but rest assured that given the shitshow over here we're even more embarrassed by our politicians.

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2022 21:31

Evening wenches.

Open evening was okay. Didn’t take long.

Didn’t do much today but still seem to be tired. Headache thankfully taken care of by paracetamol.

Twatty fuckers all over the world in politics Wicked. We could get them all together and put them on an island.

LetUsPrey · 18/10/2022 07:28

Morning wenches.

Daaaaarrrrkkkkkk - I sense this may now be a recurring theme for a few months.

Not feeling the return to work at all. No movement from DS2 upstairs so do I shout him again and possibly get a mouthful back or just leave him?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/10/2022 07:30

Morning all.

A Newt Fancy?! That makes your house a protected area and you can't do anything, ever. Install a pond in the relevant room and give it over to wildlife. (Or, put the newt out and let it make its own way home.) Grin

Glad to hear that the open evening didn't drag on LetUs.

It's cold and clear outside. The sun is coming up behind the hedge, and there's a pink-ish (but mostly silvery) vapour trail in the sky. I'm killing time waiting for DS to go and the chickens to make up and be fed. Then I have to remember to phone the dentist about my tooth, because they only do emergency appointments on the day, and I called them too late yesterday.
<practises opening wide...>
<Waits for HBFs to appear>
<dies of old age>

ApricotCrush · 18/10/2022 16:53

Afternoon. Lovely day, I did a bit of sunbathing through an open window in DD's old room. Bit too chilly to sit outside.

I went to see the PC guy this morning and we've found my Word documents which I hope he's put on a new hard drive. Still can't find the thousands of family photos, so I've left it with him and he's going to continue looking. Hmm I'm not too worried about most of them as they're on DVDs but it's all the ones from this year. I can find a lot of them on phone and iPad and WhatsApp messages etc. but it's one hell of a job.

Confused about the newt Fancy. How on earth did he get there? I don't mind the spindly spiders, it's the big black ones I can't stand.

Hope Helen managed to sort out a dental appointment and LetUs's day wasn't too bad. .

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 18/10/2022 19:46

Evening wenches.

I recall a not nice encounter with a newt when I was a child. There used to be loads near us back in the day. Anyway middle of summer little me is walking around outside barefoot, not really paying attention (probably had a book in my hands). Poor squished newt Sad I still feel a bit bad about it.

Hope you got through to the dentist Helen.

I suppose that’s positive progress from pc man Apricot. Here’s hoping the positive news continues.

Work was averagely crap. Spent ages looking through paper documents to find the ones I was being told by Boss needed to go as well as other stuff. Then I’ve found that this person has already had the documents and has reported on it but Boss seems to have missed this so I’m going to have to make massive changes to tweak the letter sending it all. I gave up for today though.

FancyFancy · 18/10/2022 20:04

Evening
Fingers crossed for the photos apricot. I have no idea how the newt got in - FancyCat doesn't usually bother with things like that, were ScaredyCat still with us I'd have suspected her - she'd try & catch anything & I often used to see her eating bugs in the garden.

Grrr, that is frustrating letus, hope your evening is better than your day was.

Any luck with the dentists helen?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/10/2022 22:53

Oh, FML, another post has been trashed by my hibernating tabs. FFS.

Dentist - I phoned on the dot of them opening and was 5th in the queue. They have two emergency appointments a day. They have one available tomorrow but I can't book it until tomorrow. FMAL. I'm almost tempted to just turn up on their doorstep at opening time and see if I can beat the phone queue that way, though I suspect they'd just say that I had to wait my turn in person and not jump the phone queue.

I'm with you on the spiders apricot - we have a healthy collection of inoffensive spindly ones, but the hairy house spiders go right out the door/window, whichever. Did I say I got bitten by a garden spider recently? It was on an apple and didn't appreciation me squashing it when I picked the apple up. Sadly, I have no supers skills like improves reflexes and the ability to climb walls. I just got a slightly itchy finger.

FFS at your work LetUs
