Morning all. Rain/sun/rain/sun, etc... there was a nice rainbow though.

DS has slouched off to school. I could get another 45 minutes in bed.... (Spoiler - I'll probably slump on the sofa and mooch online/read)

Have a good day all

LetUsPrey · 26/09/2022 11:57

Morning (just) wenches.

Heavens opened here just as DS2 was putting his shoes and coat on. I have a day off so I’ve been for blood tests (just for health check) and a physio/massage appointment. She was excellent so I’ve rebooked.

Flapjacks are in the oven and there’s a jigsaw waiting for me in the other room. Don’t want to overdo it Grin

ApricotCrush · 26/09/2022 17:07

Afternoon. Bit of a miserable day. I did a Sainsbury's shop this afternoon.
They've changed everything round again. Angry

Yay for day off LetUs, hope you've had a good rest and are feeling better.

Karate for DGS tonight, so DH will bring fish and chips on the way home. Smile

Just paid the electric bill Confused

LetUsPrey · 26/09/2022 20:36

Evening wenches.

Lovely day off despite the occasional downpours. Finished another third of my jigsaw.

<pinches a few chips>

I’ve done our meter readings tonight Wicked so the bill will arrive in a few days. I am fully braced. <niagw>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2022 20:50

Evening all. It has rained and been miserable all day. I have been glued to a computer, and now I have a headache. Woe, etc.

Your day off sounds lovely and relaxing LetUs (apart from being poked with a needle).

<cbf> at supermarket re-orgs but hurrah for fish and chips.

I refuse to think about electricity bills.

I'm going to have a bath and go to bed....

FancyFancy · 26/09/2022 21:12

That does sound like a good day off letus, I hope you are having an uninterrupted evening!

Aw Misty 😍, FancyCat does greet me, but it's largely cupboard love!

I'll join you in trying not to think about electricity bills Helen, although I'm hoping the massive credit I've built up over the summer will cushion me from a huge hike this winter. Not holding my breath though.

Thanks for the reminder though ww, I should do a meter reading......

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/09/2022 07:34

Morning. It's a bit grey and uninspiring outside, but not raining, so that's handy. There was blue skies when I got up, but it's clouded over now.

I have been sneezing like... (what sneezes a lot?) a very sneezy thing this morning. Oh joy, and all that.

I did the bath and book and bed thing, and then stayed up stupid late reading the book, so that didn't work quite as planned and I'm still knackered this morning. Wierd dreams about being on a beach and watching sunset (and getting wet because I sat down within reach of the surf), and then being chased through a castle where I ended up falling (gently) through about 5 floors of a tower whose wooden floor were rotton. And not a single HBF in sight. <le sigh>

LetUsPrey · 27/09/2022 07:37

Morning wenches.

Raining here again. A lot.

It’s weird dreams a-go-go at the moment in the Tav. <passes tissues>

Downside of day off is having to go to work the next day is even more rubbish.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 27/09/2022 16:53

Misty is so adorable 😍

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 27/09/2022 17:06

Let me tell you about my Friday last week:

The mechanics sent me a text message that my car was finished at 14.10. The message said to collect before 16.00. I jumped on my electric bike (cause I live out in nowhere) to get to the main road about 7 km away where I could catch the bus. Arrived at the mechanics at 15.50, but they closed at 15.00 apparantly. The guy in the adjoining spare parts shop (?) didn't have any keys for me. He suggested that if I had my spare key I could get the car and pay after the weekend.
So back on the bus and then back on the bike which didn't work from time to time.
Had some food.
Managed to catch the bus that actually stops on my doorstep (only stops there a few times a day). Caught the adjoining bus at the main road (pitch black). And finally arrived at the mechanics to get my car, cause no way would I leave it out in the parking lot over the weekend.

Completely stressed out when I got home.

And then I had to spend several hours during the weekend to catch up on work.

Oh, and I also started watching Line of Duty, just finished season 2, is it a bit confusing from time to time or is it just me?

ApricotCrush · 27/09/2022 17:21

Afternoon. Raining here.

The replacement chairs for the kitchen have arrived and they are the right colour this time. Misty 'helped' with the unpacking and construction.

Well, we've put the heating on. We've built up a good credit balance over the summer and we haven't used any gas for the past two months when we thought the bills were going up by 80%. Shock We've been putting the immersion heater on for half an hour for showers and using the kettle for washing up but this morning I was hugging a mug of tea because my hands were so cold, so we thought enough is enough. We've just been told by Octopus that our direct debit is going down by the £67 per month we're getting for 6 months. It may go up again when they've re-calculated but not by much because of the price guarantee thingy. Phew!

Oh WW what a nightmare. Yes, Line of Duty can be confusing. This may be of some help.

LetUsPrey · 27/09/2022 19:36

Evening wenches.

What a total ballache Wicked. Totally ridiculous of the garage to have closed after telling you a different time.

That’s good news about your balance Apricot.

Fortunate that it still doesn’t feel too bad at home so we’ve not got the heating on. Fecking freezing at work though. Unfortunately there’s a person who thinks it’s up to them whether the heating goes on or not and when it does, that the control of the thermostat lies with them. Well, it’s not and it doesn’t so they can fuck off. They claimed no one else had asked about the heating go on (many people had), and then said it had been on (it hadn’t), and then that it was going to come on later (it didn’t). Just stop fucking lying.

Annnnnd breathe.

FancyFancy · 27/09/2022 20:39

Evening.
Sounds like Wine is needed all round - what a bugger about the car ww

Am trying to resist putting on the heating here for a bit longer, it's not too bad in the house but the hot water bottle has made a reappearance at bedtime.

And in Hmm news, four of the deadlines at the end of the week have been put back. So all that work on Sunday? Yep, needn't have bothered

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/09/2022 20:54

Definitely sounds like we need Wine and gin] all round. Though good news re. the chairs and not-quite-so-expensive heating apricot

I think our heating has been on - it's set to if it drops below 16 in the house, and I heard the pipes banging a few evenings ago. The hot water bottle has been out for a couple of weeks.

LetUsPrey · 28/09/2022 07:48

Morning wenches.

Two glasses of Wine don’t mind if I do.

Oh Fancy that’s a bastard about the moved deadlines and the work you did on Sunday.

Quite bright here this morning. Short working day and then a meeting at school about the ongoing homework shenanigans re DS2.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/09/2022 07:55

Morning wenches - headless chicken morning here, but a bit sunny and not raining, which will make the drive to work nicer.

Good luck with the meeting LetUs and have a good day all...

ApricotCrush · 28/09/2022 17:55

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day here too, but too cold to sit outside.

Well, I imprisoned myself in DD's room earlier. I shut the door as I was hoovering and Misty was asleep on our bed and doesn't like the noise. Hmm The door jammed shut and I couldn't open it. This has happened before but I've always managed to get out. I had my phone with me so I phoned DH at the golf club. Fortunately he'd finished his game as he doesn't take his phone on the course after the trolley-in-the-lake disaster. He thought it was hilarious but came home to release me. Good job I didn't need the loo! He's adjusted the door so it shouldn't happen again.

<cbf> at person at LetUs's work who think they are in charge of heating. Hope your meeting goes well.

How annoying Fancy, but at least the work is done.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/09/2022 20:12

Evening wenches.

Oh blimey Apricot! Thank goodness you were released fairly quickly. If that had happened with LetUsCat instead of Misty, chances are there would have been little paw prints on the door and a giggling cat on the landing.

Heating finally came on at work thank goodness. Was at the stage of people wearing coats at their desks, sitting with a blanket around them, or sitting with hot water bottles.

Meeting went very well thanks. Relayed it back to DS2. He’s okay with some of the decisions, not so much some of the others. Tough.

FancyFancy · 28/09/2022 20:25

Evening
Glad your day was rather better letus. Mine was quite quiet - nothing exciting to report like getting locked in a room! Relieved you weren't stuck in their too long apricot

Am relaxing after dinner - may try today's Duotrigordle. 32 Wordles to solve simultaneously Grin - DS is a very bad influence, he keeps introducing me to these things!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/09/2022 21:21

Evening all.

Oops Apricot - thank goodness MrA had his phone on him, and that he's fixed the door so it doesn't happen again. <snort> at LetUsCat aka EvilGeniusCat Grin StupidKitten would barrel into the door on accident and shut it, then mew plaintively outside for food.

Glad to hear that you have heating at last LetUs - we were discussing heated blankets at work, and how they're a bit of a game changer for WFH! It was actually colder in the office that it was outside - when it wasn't raining.

Duotrigordle, you say Fancy? Ooooh. I've been being irritated by quordle and Octordle recently - the first half of Octordle has taken to being the same as Quordle.

So anyway, today I had yet another optician appointment and have got to pick up new glasses in a fortnight. AND, I went book shopping, in actual bookshops, without anyone hassling me and huffing about being bored. It was blissful. Then got home to find that DS has been selected for some extra high-level lessons in maths which, much to my astonishment, he actually wants to do Shock #ProudMother

LetUsPrey · 29/09/2022 07:38

Morning wenches.

Well done MiniHelen! That’s fantastic news! Gets it from his mother of course.

Duotrigordle. Had a go - love it!

Quite bright again here. Can’t seem to get going but I must.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/09/2022 08:01

Morning all. Rather a lovely day here - mist on the marshes, heavy dew, blue skies and sunshine...

DS does definitely not get the maths from me. I'm competent, but no more than that. DH on the other hand, did the same thing when he was at school.

This morning's stress is trying to get tickets for DS' favourite band which go on pre-sale this morning. (It's the first band he's started liking with no input from us. I've heard of them, but couldn't name a tune if my life depended on it - let alone sing along!)

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 29/09/2022 16:36

Afternoon. Rain on and off here.

Yay for heating and good meeting LetUs.

Duotrigordle??? The mind boggles.

Star for MiniHelen. Hope you got the tickets. I've spent far too long on the phone/online in the past trying to book for concerts.

LetUsPrey · 29/09/2022 19:33

Evening wenches.

Some rain, bit chilly today. Work was blaaaaaahhhhhhh with me replying to queries to people and then waiting and waiting for them to get back to me, and time passing to the extent of then everything needing to be be done at once and last minute. Then Zoom thing with school (not individually for DS2, for the whole year).

Hope you’ve managed to get the tickets Helen.

<gets fleecy blankets out and drapes them over wenches>

Plan for tonight is bath’n’book’n’bed.
