Yet more rubbish intelligent sparkling conversations to get us through the day.

Evening all. We've watched Bladerunner II (2049? I forget the year in the title) which was very long, but good.

I managed to get some stuff done today, but not everything. Also a frustrating day of poor timing - DF announced that it might have liked to join the queuing marathon in London, which I would have organised if he'd told me sooner. Oh well.

Hurrah for your book haul LetUs - I need to do something similar, I've just started reading the All Souls trilogy because I found the first one in the library, and I have a pile of books from a friend who is moving and having a cull. But you can never have too many good books. I also got a snippet of the vigil including the exit of the grandchildren and a change of guards.

We are all getting grumpier with age Fancy or more assertive, or less likely to tolerate fools. Or all of the above. Grin

<snort> at 25 years old next month but it would need a bit of bodywork - I think we all qualify as classics too!

DS is up far too late (having been watching the film) but in good news, he has managed to reinstall a game on the xbox without having lost his previous progress.

LetUsPrey · 18/09/2022 11:18

Morning wenches.

Good news on the game front for MiniHelen.

I enjoyed the All Souls Trilogy Helen - quick to get through.

Definitely grumpier here too/less likely to be amenable. Perhaps my eyes and the whole of me are falling into line - very easily irritated.

Visiting parents then ironing, baking, knitting. None of which of course requires much physical effort and can be done alone.

ApricotCrush · 18/09/2022 17:26

Afternoon. It's coooooold. We don't put the heating on until October and were hoping to hold out until November this year, but I feel I need it on now. Sad

Very admirable of your DF wanting to join The Queue Helen even if it was too late. If I lived down there I would perhaps queue for 2 or 3 hours but not all night. I'd be spark out on the pavement. DH doesn't queue. He drives all round the Wrekin (local phrase) to avoid a five minute traffic jam. Grin

Glad MiniHelen has sorted out his Xbox.

I saw the Crown Jewels programme when it was first on LetUs, but I wouldn't mind watching it again. I love Clive Myrie, he has such a calming voice and he doesn't 'act' the news as so many of them do.

I'm sure you're not getting grumpier Fancy, it's just that with age we tend to not have patience with people who are annoying.

Evening all. today we have mostly fixed gutters, stewed fruit and been for a walk. Not vast amounts of excitement. We haven't had heating on yet (as far as I know) but I can see the woodburner being lit soon if the evenings stay chilly, and I've had a hot water bottle for the past two nights.

Tea is cooking just now and I ought to clear the table really... Or I could stay sitting on the sofa for 5 more minutes.

LetUsPrey · 18/09/2022 21:33

Evening wenches.

Quiet day. Ironing done, although I’ve just realised it’s all over the bed for putting away. Urgh. I didn’t bake but I did do a bit of knitting.

Agree with everything you said about Clive Apricot.

<drapes cloak over Helen>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/09/2022 22:43

Urgh - that's so tedious LetUs -the thing where you realise that the washign still needs to be put away.

<hides under cloak>

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2022 09:18

Morning wenches.

I just put the ironing on the floor. Couldn’t be bothered with putting it in drawers.

I’ve got the tv on. Will do the baking I didn’t do yesterday and then perhaps more knitting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/09/2022 09:19

Morning all. It's sunny here, but there's a few clouds floating about so I'm not holding my breath for a dry day.

DS is on the x-box, DH is asleep, and I am multitasking (online/reading/watching TV and listening to the commentators trying to fill the time) Grin

ApricotCrush · 19/09/2022 17:37

Afternoon. Well, I was going to nip in and out of the funeral, but we seem to have been watching it all day except for getting lunch. It was all rather magnificent, wasn't it? We do do these things so well, makes you proud to be British.

Heart-in-mouth moments: Carrying the coffin up all those steps at Windsor and placing the crown jewels on the cushions. Shock

Awww moments: George and Charlotte, the Queen's pony and the corgis. Sad

There was a spider on the card on the flowers. It's got it's own Twitter account now. I can't read it all because Twitter wants me to open an account. Hmm

I bet Camilla can't wait to get her nightie and slippers on later and have a G&T. She's got a broken toe apparently.

Hope everyone had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2022 17:51

Evening wenches.

I’ve had it on the telly whilst I was pottering about, tidying paperwork, reorganising knitting stuff, baking. The pony and the corgis were so sweet. Loved the pipers and drummers and general pageantry. And yes, those steps!

I can’t help but first thought when I saw all the people already in the Abbey quite early on was what about needing the loo.

Been quite nice weather but it doesn’t stick around much past 4. I’m still popping antihistamines all day so goodness knows what’s causing it now. Seems to be anything aggravates it - cleaning sprays, air fresheners at work, etc.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/09/2022 20:56

What everyone else said about the funeral... DH and I spent far too long working out how the ratings were holding on to the gun carriage - ropes/handles/harnesses... LOL at the spider though, I missed that, and OW!!!! at Camilla's broken toe. That's really unpleasant for her to have to be walking on it.

We had an evening beach walk and now DS is in a strop because his game glitched when he was about to finish a level. <le sigh, etc>

FancyFancy · 19/09/2022 21:57

I've managed to miss all of the funeral as we went over to FancyMan's mum's, only when we got there she'd locked herself out so by the time we got in and had lunch most of it was over! Am a bit pissed off about that but I don't suppose we'd have watched much anyhow. Am planning to see what I can find on iPlayer.

Apricot for Twitter, if you click on the 'sign up' or 'log in' boxes and then close down the box that pops up you can carry on reading.

LetUsPrey · 20/09/2022 07:48

Morning wenches.

Is grey and a bit chilly here but I’ve put a wash out.

What a palaver Fancy - good that everything got sorted though.

<glares at MiniHelen - even though I know obviously that doesn’t work>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2022 07:55

Morning all.

<cbf/rolling eyes> at FancyMan's mum. Glad you got it sorted, but the faff...<niagw>

It is cloudy here with some sunshine. DS is feeling rough (cough) but testing negative and went to school without asking to stay home #BraveLittleSoldier Grin I'm quite impressed really because he's under the weather enough that if he'd pushed for stay at home flaked out in bed, I'd have let him.

Today there is all the work I didn't do yesterday (like everyone else), so that will be delightful. Hmm

Have a good day all
<pinches some of LetUs baking>

ApricotCrush · 20/09/2022 16:40

Afternoon. I’ve caught up with the ironing and did some sweeping in the garden. It went quite warm when the sun was out.

Oooooooo Fancy, thank you (Twitter), I’ve never tried that. Feel a bit stupid now. Confused. Shame about missing the funeral, but you can skip the boring bits on iPlayer.

Hope LetUs and MiniHelen feel better soon.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 20/09/2022 17:46

Crap day Sad

LetUsPrey · 20/09/2022 20:15

Evening wenches.

Hope MiniHelen’s feeling better. DS2 is sounding a bit snotty but I think that’s partly tiredness (I know they’re not really connected but in my head it makes sense) as he was up in the night and couldn’t sleep.

My eyes seem to have calmed down for now.

Washing did dry although it got an extra rinse even though no rain was forecast.

Have a Wineand some 🍫 Wicked. Won’t change anything but you might feel better.

Not a great day either - sad news from BestFriend, massive stress thing at work, and then horrendous traffic on the way home again.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2022 21:45

Evening all. Today, as expected, I've been trying (failing) to catch up on work, and will have to turn down a new project because I don't have a working time-turner. (At least I managed to have to=he good sense not to take it on to start with.)
<Cwtch> for LetUs, LetUsBestFried and Wicked for all the various reasons.

DS is still feeling rough, but planning to infect everyone go to school tomorrow, which is good - in that he's feeling up to going in - not the 'infecting everyone' part. Hopefully a good nights sleep will help him and miniLetUs to be less coldy tomorrow.

I have no idea what the weather's done here today. No rain I don't think, but not warm.

LetUsPrey · 21/09/2022 07:30

Morning wenches.

Slept a lot better, as did DS2, so that’s a start. Hope MiniHelen’s feeling better.

Looks grey outside. Even today’s short day is already feeling like too much of an effort.

Urgh <shakes self> <nae> <gets grip> <also nae>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/09/2022 07:44

Morning all.

Today I may be running late - I have been pressed into service as a cat bed, and as we know, the 11th commandment is 'Though shalt not turf a cat off your lap'. Unless he leaps off of his own accord and sits on the bean bag instead, which is what he just did.

Work it is then, happy days.

DS is still feeling rough but testing negative. It's very dismal outside, and I must also have a shake/get a grip <still nae> and get dressed/out the door. Urgh indeed.

I had a bonkers dream about taking someone else's dog for a walk by the local river (which was also the river near the ILs, because, dream logic) and the dog jumped in and was chased by walruses... I woke up very anxious about the dog. so am operating on interrupted sleep. More urgh. (WFT 'walruses'?!)

ApricotCrush · 21/09/2022 17:38

Afternoon. Bit of a miserable looking day here,.

I've been sorting photos from the last few family outings because if I don't do them as I go along it's a nightmare to get them in order.

Walruses Helen??? Confused

<cwtches> for all those in need.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 21/09/2022 20:23

Afternoon. Have been particularly sleepy today - combination of going to bed too late last night and work being dull today. Doing the umpteenth amendment on the same piece of work bores me rigid. There was at least cake, so I got through the day 😁

<Cwtches> all round for everyone have shitty days.

Re: hayfever letus, do you have ivy nearby? It's in bloom round here - and the smell is intense.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/09/2022 21:11

Evening.

Work was work-ish, including meeting to analyse T&Cs on contracts which make no sense whatsoever. So that was fun. Hmm <Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz> There was no cake (though I've eaten too much tea so I'm not terribly enthusiastic about the idea of eating anything at all just now).

We have been watching the new Star Wars series with the Little Spanishy One from Rogue One. It seems quite formulaic good so far. DS is now doing homework that's due in tomorrow and, of course, it's not going brilliantly. Heaven forbid he should do these things with time to spare. <le sigh>

Tonight I am expecting more walrus dreams, simply because my brain has gone through the day with regular 'Walruses?! WTF?' thoughts. Then again, on that basis we should all be having more regular HBF dreams. So maybe I'll be walrus-free tonight.

Hope that LetUs and Wicked have had better days today.

LetUsPrey · 21/09/2022 21:21

Evening wenches.

Work was still there. Back is very much bloody hurting but am hoping it will fade after a night’s sleep. Hopefully walrus free dreams for all. My dream was bloody awful and fretty and upsetting which was such a nice way to wake up.

DS2 didn’t do any homework tonight because nothing due for tomorrow. Alrighty then.

I don’t even think it’s hayfever anymore at this time of the year Fancy. More dust than usual, for example looking through the part of the wardrobe that doesn’t get a look very often, sets me off. Slightest thing irritates my eyes which I’m sure I’ve read can be part of the menopause.

LittleSis is excellent at sorting photos Apricot. She’s done tons at my mum and dad’s.

Hope you had a better day Wicked.

<pinches a slice of cake>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/09/2022 07:28

Morning all. Grey and uninspiring weather here this morning.

In an effort to prove me wrong, my subconscious put HBFs and wenches in my dream last night Shock This mostly involved sitting on a sofa chatting and then trying to find coats and route planning a car journey. Very mundane.

Hope that LetUs has had a good night's sleep and that's knocked out the sore back Sad
Are you putting the photos in albums Apricot or just sorting digital pics?

Have a good day all - fingers crossed!
