The meowfia leader 😂

ApricotCrush · 07/09/2022 17:09

Afternoon. Cloudy day here and I can hear thunder in the distance.

Nothing much going on. Hope everyone's had a good day.

Grin at the meowfia leader. Are you feeling any better WW?

LetUsPrey · 07/09/2022 17:29

Evening wenches.

snooooooooooort at Meowfia

We did have distant thunder too but it’s no longer distant and is actually very bloody loud. Lightning as well, and wind. Not raining very much though.

LetUsPrey · 07/09/2022 17:39

Rain has changed its mind and is now making a full effort.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/09/2022 21:58

Evening all.
<snort> at the Meowfia Grin IntelligentCat is the Godmoewther (being 16 and all) KillerKitty is the young upstart know-it-all who wants to make a name for himself.

We had monsoon rain at work, and monsoon rain at DS's meet-up, and... a pathetic smidgeon at home. FFS.

Last night DH came back from SportingActivity and said he wasn't going tonight (I reacted with a non-committal 'hmmm'). At 5pm today he told me he hadn't decided if he was going (I reacted with a non-committal 'ok'). By the time I was home from work he'd decided he was going <rolling eyes> I really don't know who he thought he was kidding last night.

This evening DS remembered some homework that he was meant to do over the holiday. He can't do it, because the new school year has started and he can't access it because his account no longer exists (being in the new school year). FFS. This is the first I've heard of him having any homework.

I shall wordle (etc) then muck about online for hours go to bed

LetUsPrey · 08/09/2022 07:35

Morning wenches.

Yet another way in which MrHelen and DH are similar. Oh MiniHelen that’s less than ideal.

Love the cat Meowfia names

Cloudy but still quite warm here. DS2 being his usual pain in the arse re getting up.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/09/2022 07:42

Morning all.

Mega shock chez SisterHelen - DS got himself up without me having to use a crowbar any input from me. He didn't help with getting breakfast, but he was ready and waiting Shock Then trudged out of the house and into the rain with an "Oh Joy..." Grin I did not take a 'back to school' photo.

We've had over 1cm rain overnight, which is excellent, unless you're KillerKitty, who wants to be out killing, and also wants to stay dry. This conflict of interests is hurting his tiny brain and his solution so far has been to miaow his way around downstairs, poking into all the corners, check to see if it's raining if he tries to go you via the windows, and pounce on any hands that attempt to stoke him. I have sent intelligent cat upstairs to hide, and will join her shortly!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 08/09/2022 16:34

Apes, think the fever is gone but still very snotty and coughing a lot, and really tired. Have a sore throath that comes and goes, weird.

ApricotCrush · 08/09/2022 17:34

Afternoon. Cloud and rain here. Very autumnal. Sad

Grin at Godmeowther for IntelligentCat.

I’ve been glued to BBC News all afternoon. Sad

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 08/09/2022 17:35

Oh, glad the fever has gone WW, feel better soon.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 08/09/2022 19:45

Evening wenches.

That is a shocker about MiniHelen!

Pleased your fever has gone Wicked. Here’s to a quick recovery.

Heavy rain on the way home. So loud I couldn’t hear my podcast.

Have had BBC news on since I got in. It’s very sad.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/09/2022 22:26

Evening all.

Glad that you're feeling less rough now Wicked Fingers crossed you lose the tired snottiness soon.

Agreed LetUs - I'd just logged off before it was announced. DS bumbled through to tell me "One of my friends messaged that the Queen was dead, I thought they were talking about Bees. I think it's the actual Queen!" I didn't expect to feel so sad about it.

Other than that, I had a lovely visit from a friend and her daughter - that's the last visit before she starts school Shock where is time going?! We had a lovely impromptu 'making' session with me pulling random things out of recycling and the bin for her to glue and paint Grin - as I said to my friend, this is fun when you don't have to do it all the time! It's such a cliche, but it's so true that you miss all the random creative stuff when they get past that stage "The cotton wools are all aliens! ...That's a disco dinosaur, it needs rainbow hair!"" (The creative stuff drove me slightly demented at the time - my mother was much better at that than me, which helped minimise my guilt.)

LetUsPrey · 09/09/2022 07:48

Morning wenches.

I don’t think I’ll ever get to the stage of enjoying creative activities like you describe Helen. My limit was play doh. Obviously I did make sure they did painting and sticking and stuff, but crikey I struggled with it.

That’s sweet about the bees Smile I’ve seen the fronts of the newspapers this morning. That made me quite teary.

Didn’t sleep well and had very weird dreams so Friday’s going to be extra fun.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/09/2022 07:58

Morning all.

Bees aside, DS was greatly saddened to learn that school was not cancelled as part of general mourning Grin

It's raining outside, and we have a repeat of yesterday as far as KillerKitty is concerned - he's booooorrrrrrrrrreddddd and wants to know why it's raining and why don't I stop it. #TeenageStroppyKitten

I also had weird, but utterly uninteresting dreams. (So I won't bore you more than usual )

Still - Friday, hurrah!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/09/2022 09:04

Sad to hear about your queen, she’s always been around, I kind of expected her to live forever.

ApricotCrush · 09/09/2022 17:28

Afternoon. Did a Sainsbury shop earlier and it's very warm though cloudy.

Yes, very sad, she was a amazing lady. I'm now on the third monarch in my lifetime. Shock

Grin at MiniHelen and the bees.

I'm absolutely usless at making stuff with cardboard and glue and paint, that was usually DH's department when the DC were young.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 09/09/2022 19:58

Evening wenches.

LetUsCat was also similarly mystified by weather and the lack of control over it. Thanks for letting me out the back but there’s that wet stuff so I’ll come straight back in. So I will head to the front door and ask to go out there as it definitely will be dry. <open front door> Whaaaaaatttt??

It is rather odd Wicked. Did sort of think she’d be here forever.

Three Apricot?! Have you miscounted? It’s that or you must have been a teeny tiny baby for the first one.

Really must have an early night as car in for service tomorrow morning so need to be at the garage for 8am, and then we’re out at a party at night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/09/2022 22:28

Evening all. Lots of rain today, but next door's pond is still empty.

On the subject of living through multiple royalty, this made me laugh on Twitter:

Idle thought: every monarch would be expected to attend one funeral of a predecessor, but the Queen must be the only one to have gone to three - George VI, Edward VIII and, in a twist nobody was expecting, Richard III. Grin

FancyFancy · 09/09/2022 23:52

Evening, has been rather manic at work with a regulatory visit this week - this necessitated lunch at the pub for a few of us today once it was over.

It does all feel very odd without the Queen, she's just been there forever it seems. Found myself keeping an eye on the news a lot yesterday afternoon as the headlines were hinting at it since at least midday from what I saw. Did see a comment that she would have been very happy that the flabby bellend that was our previous leader wasn't going to be PM when she died. Although if that's true I dare say she expressed herself more decorously than me. I do like the thought of her hanging on for a few more days just to spite the lying shitbag - thank you for denying him the chance to further ponce about in the limelight embarrassing us all ma'am Grin

In other news, monster spider season has arrived, I seem to be constantly having to catch them.

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2022 10:26

Morning wenches.

Car has been for its service and I spent a quiet hour or so reading so that wasn’t exactly a chore. Got a wash on the line and then put the tv on just in time to see the proclamation. Made DS2 watch it because you will witness history child, you will.

The book I’m reading includes Richard III so I was having a little giggle to myself whilst reading it this morning after seeing your post Helen Grin

That’s exactly what I’ve though as well Fancy. Has he gone now? Thank goodness for that!

Might be brave and sew up the little cardigan, might just carry on with the blanket. Party tonight but it won’t be a late one.

FancyFancy · 10/09/2022 12:30

Love that Richard III gag too Grin

I am under a cat. FancyCat has been demanding an early lunch for what seems like the whole of the morning. I suspect that her various catsitters, especially the ones used to labrador-sized appetites, were more generous with food than me and she is unhappy with the return to normal rations!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/09/2022 14:55

Afternoon all. Someone (spoilsport) did point out that she didn't actually go to the funeral for Richard III, but still... Grin

I have been sorting out gutters and picking fruit and also being under a cat. It has been spider season here for a few weeks - yoghurt pots a go-go. DS had a set of pouring cups in the bath when he was little and we still keep them out because the larger one is used for bath spiders.

I don't think I've seen any of the coverage live Blush I slept through this morning, and worked through yesterday.

Hope that the car went through the service ok LetUs

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2022 18:51

Evening. Nice day. We've been out with DD and Co. to a local airfield for DGS to have a flying lesson for his birthday next week. Shock Shock His Dad and DH went up with him and the instructor in a light aircraft. It was dual controlled of course, but he did actually take the controls for some of the flight. DD and I stayed in the cafe quaking. He loved it. We went to the pub after for a meal.

Love the Richard III Twitter post.

Eeeeek at spiders.

Have a lovely time at the party LetUs.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 10/09/2022 23:40

Evening wenches.

<snoooorrt> at FancyCat being aggrieved at being back on normal rations.

<ignoring any talk of anything with more than six legs> <unless it’s four or more HBFs>

Eeeek at flying lesson Apricot! Good that he enjoyed it though.

I don’t think I’m really cut out for parties out. Everyone knows everyone else and I don’t know many and I can’t just chat with strangers. And it’s DS2’s idea of hell. Anyway it was nice to see some of DH’s extended family we’ve not seen for a while but I’m glad to be home.

LetUsPrey · 11/09/2022 09:54

Morning wenches.

Bright and sunny here. Ironing done. DH has gone out doing a race. Off to visit parents soon and then LovelyMIL and MadAunties are coming round this afternoon.
