e-tickets not transferable...trapped!

I have bought my son and DIL and their young children tickets in their city to see Disney on Ice in November. You get sent straight to TicketMaster...there was no choice other than e-tickets. I looked that up and it said they could be transferred and you could print them out (I have a printer - do it all the time) so I booked. four tickets £160. I now find out that they are nontransferable and unprintable and the purchaser has to be present at the door as the tickets will only be available on their (my) phone. I am deeply distressed by this. I can't go there. I have already told the family they are very excited. I don't know what to do. Have any other Mumsnetters come across this?
I have tried contacting TicketMaster to no avail.

I agree with all of you. You'd think that wouldn't you. The email with all the tickets on says this cannot be transferred and no entry by it...it HAS to be the phone of the purchaser. It really is mad. You can only contact them via already set questions and set answers. no help at all. I'm going to look at Lead booker from Shrimpseyelashes as that might help.

It can say what it wants. But if you download the tickets and screen shot them and send them to your son it'll be fine. As will giving your son having your log in details. DH buys all theatre tickets in our house but rarely attends. I've never had an issue doing the above.

Ticket master have introduced moving parts to their tickets so they can't just be screen shots anymore, I don't know how closely the people scanning on the way in would actually look though.

We are going to an event later this week. Ticketmaster sent out emails last week giving the booker the ability to forward tickets to other attendees - it's a facility they enact closer to the event to prevent people buying up all the tickets and selling them on for a premium and to encourage genuine fans to resell via their own channels.

It'll all work out closer to the date.

My ticket from ticketmaster last week sepcifically said to not screenshot it so i put it in my google wallet

Hi if this helps OP ive just received e tickets for an event next week from Ticketmaster. Their email specifically says they have introduced animated features to the codes on the tickets for increased security and that screenshots will not gain entry. But you should be able to share by text or email so the gift recipient can have them.

Fully sympathise with you OP, it is because of new strictures to prevent ticket touts buying up good tickets early to sell on …you are one of the casualties of this. I’m sure they’ll allow you to transfer nearer the date aLthough as you say they won’t even guarantee that! It’s a nightmare for your peace of mind.

thank you all you helpful people for your support. As you confirm I will have to be patient. Ticketmaster still telling me no transfers and no ability to put in apple wallet ...yet.

And to those I confused and felt the need to mock? how much more do you want to know? Son actually unable to go after all as he will be looking after youngest who they deem too disabled to be able to attend, three of them have Myotonic Dystrophy (& Disney on Ice is much more DIL's thing than his!). Of course I will give them login details but they don't really get what I am talking about and at the moment are just thanking me and saying they will come back to me on it as they are very busy. Which is true. They don't use Ticketmaster. I don't live in the same city so can't just give my phone over, of course, that would be easy.. Diva? possibly, I just think that forking out £160 to not be able to send them a lovely surprise gift very frustrating, yep you can call me old fashioned etc etc. And it was supposed to be such fun. Never again. Early days. I'm sure it will sort itself out.

They don’t understand how to log into ticketmaster? Also free carer tickets should have been purchased then.

I just got an email about my tickets for a gig next week saying they can now be added to my Apple wallet so maybe only available a week before the event. In my Apple wallet I can then send them to someone else by pressing the three dots in the top right followed by the square then choosing who to send to.
