e-tickets not transferable...trapped!

I have bought my son and DIL and their young children tickets in their city to see Disney on Ice in November. You get sent straight to TicketMaster...there was no choice other than e-tickets. I looked that up and it said they could be transferred and you could print them out (I have a printer - do it all the time) so I booked. four tickets £160. I now find out that they are nontransferable and unprintable and the purchaser has to be present at the door as the tickets will only be available on their (my) phone. I am deeply distressed by this. I can't go there. I have already told the family they are very excited. I don't know what to do. Have any other Mumsnetters come across this?
I have tried contacting TicketMaster to no avail.

God op is hard work!

They don't check id! Ive never once been asked!

Get your family to log into your account. It's not rocket science!

WeBurnedSoBrightWeBurnedOut · 03/06/2022 13:17

Not RTFT but you will be able to transfer them nearer the time. I've just done it for a family member for an event this week and it was all fine. The amount of people that attend these events, no one is checkin the ID of every lead booker. It will be fine.

WeBurnedSoBrightWeBurnedOut · 03/06/2022 13:18

You also can't screenshot tickets.

ScootsMcHoy · 03/06/2022 13:18

Why did you post if you aren't reading what people are saying?

You can't think people take laptops with them if they bought them on a laptop!

Nor can you think that the venue is going to check IDs. It would take all day to get everyone in.

This is madness.

Goldwhisper · 03/06/2022 13:24

i bought event tickets off my friend last weekend that said the exact same, non-transferrable etc, but she just gave us the email address and password for the Ticketmaster account and you can have the tickets on someone else’s phone.

PatAndFrank · 03/06/2022 13:27

Give your phone to someone who is going

Why are some people so rude?...well actually it says it has to be the name of the credit/debit card purchaser...not the log in details...
and the phone doesn't answer it is bank holiday
and the message above as you can see is only giving me the option of going to the event myself with credit card ID or selling them.
It is not listed as a Lead Event and yet they are applying Lead Event rules. I will phone them and keep trying next week.
I will put it away for a while and keep checking as they say to see if they become transferable. I just thought it was outrageous and at the very least could warn you that it could happen if you book for other people and it is quite some time away. (and you cant get there). Thanks to all of you that have tried to help and haven't been rude.

It's a bank holiday in June and the event is in November, OP.

Why don't you just ring them on Monday?

FusionChefGeoff · 03/06/2022 13:08

Give your email address and your ticket master password to your son / daughter in law.

They then use these details to log into the ticket master website and they will then be able to see exactly what you can see.

Do you understand that?

Is there another reason why you think that won't work?

This. Doesn't have to be complicated or dramatic.

Delilahwasframed · 03/06/2022 13:36

The issue isn’t the log in details or the phone. It’s that the credit/debit card purchaser has to be present. That’s why theOP is concerned. I’m sure it can be sorted out, but it’s not as simple as people are making out.

PuppyMonkey · 03/06/2022 13:39

I think the only available solution is for DIL to apply for a good quality fake passport in OP name, forge her signature, log into her bank account, download the banking app on her phone and then she’ll have all the bank card details she’ll need when the venue asks in November.

Or the son could try the same thing, wear a wig and dress and pretend he’s you. Does he look like you? That’s good.

Honestly, it’s that simple really, ignore this lot with their oh so simple “they can just log into your Ticketmaster account” nonsense.

Threetulips · 03/06/2022 13:44

I doubt anyone anywhere in the entire world has come up with the amount of angst you’re displaying over a show!

Just let one of them log in - you’d be horrified my friend has logged onto my Tesco account and ordered she shopping!!

PigWhisperer · 03/06/2022 13:46

It can be the case that ticket transfer doesn't open until nearer the time - like 3/4 weeks before. I have promised some Billie Eilish tickets to a friends but I could only transfer them recently and the show is in a week.

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 03/06/2022 13:46

We had this issue last week with Ed Sheeran. We logged on to the app with the other persons name, phone number and email address and then got the tickets. The other person just sent the codes to verify the account to us

Topseyt123 · 03/06/2022 13:51

I don't see anyone being rude.

People are explaining very clearly a simple solution to you. That your son and his wife download the Ticketmaster app onto either of their OWN phones and you give them YOUR login details. They won't need a Ticketmaster account of their own to do that. They will be using YOUR account on THEIR phones so they will have access to the tickets.

People are bewildered as to why you can't seem to accept this simple solution and are so determined to continue creating a huge drama.

No they don't. No one at the door logs into Ticket Masters finance system and asks to see the card the tickets were booked on and then sees if the two match. Many peoples card will have expired fro one thing.

Login, show qr code. Done.

HappyHappyHermit · 03/06/2022 14:03

How long ago did you book? I thought online purchases had a 24h cooling off period?

saleorbouy · 03/06/2022 14:03

Give them your phone for the event if there is no other way and you take one of their phones.
Normally you can forward the email or just access your Ticket master account from another phone.
What would happen if you lost your phone or changed number or had a low/no battery?
I think you're getting a bit worked up over nothing.

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:02

I'll ask my DIL to get a ticketmaster account and I will get her email address...and see if that works thanks.

You need to let them use your login unless the tickets are flagged as transferable between accounts, which from what you say is not the case. Mildly curious as to why your DiL has to sort this out for you and not your son.

I've booked tickets for Disney on Ice in December and also been emailed the tickets so maybe check your junk.

If not - Either screenshot the tickets and send them via email, WhatsApp etc or give your son your log in details.

😂Definitely check your junk. Then have a look around for your tickets.

PurpleFlower1983 · 03/06/2022 14:08

Just let them log in as you. The tickets now have a rolling text on the screen so screenshotting etc won’t work but they won’t check the ID.

hellcatspanglelalala · 03/06/2022 14:09

My dd bought us tickets to a show via ticketmaster recently. I downloaded the ticketmaster app on my phone and she logged in on my phone using her email. I then accessed the tickets and put them in my apple wallet. Job done. You could just as easily screenshot the QR code in the ticketmaster app.

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:33

I've got this info from ticketmaster : transfer not available.
We’ll provide the option to transfer eTickets whenever we can, but it isn’t available for every event at the moment – it can vary depending on the event.
If you don’t see the option in your account, this means that the transfer facility isn’t currently available. It may be made available nearer the time, but unfortunately this isn’t something we can guarantee or confirm in advance – we can only advise to keep checking back to your account.
If transfer isn’t available, this means that your entire group will need to arrive together for the event and the tickets can only be accessed from your account.
so that's it. at the very least my experience might warn others.

Jesus christ you're not listening to anyone! You do not need to transfer the tickets.
Just log into to Ticketmaster on your sons phone. Then he has the tickets on his phone. DONE.

Exactly this! I do it all the time for the DC’s

Oceanus · 03/06/2022 14:36

OP, it seems to me the biggest issue is you not wanting to give your DIL or your DS your login details for the ticketmaster. Can I recommend you change the password for that, just so they can access it and then you can change it back? Unless you have an issue with them being able to access your history, which again is your prerrogative and I'd understand. Lot's of people have told you how you can bypass this problem. They are unable to know whose phone it belongs to. All they want is the barcode. Either your DS can use the app (with your details) or you can forward a file with tickets to your son and he'll just say he has no internet on his phone so that'll have to do. They can't make people have a phone or have internet to access the tickets.

Littleroundsponge · 03/06/2022 14:47

OP, your tickets for the event are stored in your Ticketmaster account. I bought tickets a few months ago, have had a new phone since so just downloaded the app again, logged in and my tickets were in my account. It does not need to be the same phone! Your son or DIL need to download the app and login in using your details. It's very easy to do.
