e-tickets not transferable...trapped!

I have bought my son and DIL and their young children tickets in their city to see Disney on Ice in November. You get sent straight to TicketMaster...there was no choice other than e-tickets. I looked that up and it said they could be transferred and you could print them out (I have a printer - do it all the time) so I booked. four tickets £160. I now find out that they are nontransferable and unprintable and the purchaser has to be present at the door as the tickets will only be available on their (my) phone. I am deeply distressed by this. I can't go there. I have already told the family they are very excited. I don't know what to do. Have any other Mumsnetters come across this?
I have tried contacting TicketMaster to no avail.

Transfer may become available nearer the time if it's not until November.

Why not wait til then, if then if you can't transfer give them your ticket master details.

Give them just before they arrive at the venue, when they confirm they have got in change your password.

MountainClimber22 · 03/06/2022 12:44

And just screenshot the tickets or give them your login details. You literally have no problem here.

Tillow4ever · 03/06/2022 12:45

I don't understand why you think you can sell the tickets..... but cannot gift them to someone else. That's beyond weird. How would you give the tickets to the new owners?

If you gave them to your son, why would that be any different to you selling them to him?

Also, why is it that you are putting everything onto your DIL to sort out, not your own child? Just give your son the log in info and leave him to it.

jubileetrain · 03/06/2022 12:45

Why can't they just log in to your account?

AclowncalledAlice · 03/06/2022 12:49

How do you intend to sell the tickets if you can't transfer them? It's the same thing.

LoudingVoice · 03/06/2022 12:50

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:02

I'll ask my DIL to get a ticketmaster account and I will get her email address...and see if that works thanks.

Her email address has nothing to do with this, you’re making this incredibly hard work.

Get your son to download the Ticketmaster app, give him YOUR log in details, he can then download the tickets.

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 03/06/2022 12:50

OP this part of your post If transfer isn’t available, this means that your entire group will need to arrive together for the event and the tickets can only be accessed from your account. so that's it. at the very least my experience might warn others. reads as if they just need to sign into your account from their device?

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:52

Why are some people so rude?...well actually it says it has to be the name of the credit/debit card purchaser...not the log in details...
and the phone doesn't answer it is bank holiday
and the message above as you can see is only giving me the option of going to the event myself with credit card ID or selling them.
It is not listed as a Lead Event and yet they are applying Lead Event rules. I will phone them and keep trying next week.
I will put it away for a while and keep checking as they say to see if they become transferable. I just thought it was outrageous and at the very least could warn you that it could happen if you book for other people and it is quite some time away. (and you cant get there). Thanks to all of you that have tried to help and haven't been rude.

The tickets can be accessed from your account, anyone can log into your account.

Why can't they just log in to your account?

Because that would remove the need for drama.

LoudingVoice · 03/06/2022 12:56

Give your son/dil your credit card and log in details, but I’ve never in my life been asked for ID for this kind of event.

OP I don’t think people are being rude, they’re just exasperated at having given very clear useful advice that’s being ignored.

Whooshaagh · 03/06/2022 12:57

Op you have until November to get your ds to upload the app and use your log in details.

Calm down, look again tomorrow. It really is simple.

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:57

as for those of you questioning the selling of the tickets...I agree. I can only sell them back to Ticketmaster. They will then sell them on (at a higher price to cover their extra costs ) and will refund my money. The whole thing is mad.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/06/2022 12:58

You're making this stupidly hard, OP. Give them your log in details. Job done.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/06/2022 12:59

No. It is you making this hard.

Are you like this in real life, as it's exhausting?

ivy4iona · 03/06/2022 12:59

and I like assurances that it will be OK in the end...

Obi73 · 03/06/2022 13:05

When they say transfer they mean as in sell them on or swap; you can buy tickets and give them as a gift. We’ve done this tonnes of times and never had an issue.

FusionChefGeoff · 03/06/2022 13:08

Give your email address and your ticket master password to your son / daughter in law.

They then use these details to log into the ticket master website and they will then be able to see exactly what you can see.

Do you understand that?

Is there another reason why you think that won't work?

jubileetrain · 03/06/2022 13:08

Why are some people so rude?..

Multiple posters have given a simple solution. I suspect you are confusing rudeness for the genuine bafflement that you are not willing to take it. They can log in and show the tickets. That's it

Jovanka · 03/06/2022 13:08

At the risk of sounding like a dripping tap but you just need to give them your log-in details and they log on as you on one of their phones. No-one will be checking ID. They just need a scannable QR code.

HardRockOwl · 03/06/2022 13:09

You're not real are you? You're pulling our collective leg 😀

daisydalrymple · 03/06/2022 13:09

DH bought me tickets to see Queen & Adam Lambert. He gave me his ticketmaster login details. I logged in, showed my tickets on the app and we got into the event. This week. Simple.

To those saying do a screen shot though, just a heads up, I don’t think this works anymore. Ticketmaster issued an email saying that tickets needed to be redownloaded as there’s now a ‘live’ strip along the top of the tickets on the app (not sure of the technical terms for this!) to help prevent fraud, so you do have to be logged in to the app to show the tickets, rather than just a photo of them.

Brefugee · 03/06/2022 13:11

I had success contacting Ticketmaster on Twitter and they were very helpful.

Dancefever · 03/06/2022 13:13

I went to a ticketmaster event last week and they did not accept screenshots, only the actual tickets on your phone. (Can’t see why letting them log in to your account won’t work though.)

Mulledmum · 03/06/2022 13:14

Contact Ticketmaster via the help function - I had the same and was advised to write a letter of consent with the tickets being picked up at th box office of the venue
