Brangelina you need to move to Milan!! they do storytelling for children in m,ore than one bookshop now, there are spettacoli teatrali at least every weekend for 18 months + kids. And I heard that a friend takes her 6 months old to music sessions . things are changing!

francagoestohollywood · 17/01/2008 18:54

ds discovered coppa del nonno today

Brangelina · 18/01/2008 08:40

I know I need to move back to Milan, I just need to be able to afford it. I met another mum at nursery yesterday who's also milanese (lived in Corso Genova too, small world) and has been in Monza for 3 years and hasn't made one friend as they're all too cliquey. So it's not just me and because I'm straniera. Anyway, we've arranged a playdate for a day when I'm working from home. Oh dear, I'm going to have to tidy up my messy house.

Brangelina · 18/01/2008 08:49

Rosa, I saw the price for the consular birth certificate which is why I decided to do without. Also, because we're not married both DP and I would have had to do separate declarations which are 100 euros a pop IIRC, on top of the horrendous price for the birth certificate. Luckily for her passport she only needs my details, but still it's 118 euros now and the photo business has suddenly become complicated. Howcome you can apply for an Italian passport? Have you got dual nationality?

Lol Pippi and Italian passport control. I once got asked why my DD was speaking to me in English if she was an Italian citizen! Sometimes I wonder about the people they get for these jobs...

PippiCalzelunghe · 18/01/2008 09:14

last time I went (pregnant with DD and lots of suitcases) I put DD to sit on the window cill (sp) - internal with window closed - while waiting for the suitcases to arrive (PG airport is smaller than monza's bus stop and all 3 seats taken). grumpy old policeman came out of his guardiola to tell me off as she was ruining the dying plant! DD was not touching it . after 2 minutes other policeman winked and gave me a chair and said 'qualcuno e' un po' nervosetto oggi!'. bless.

PippiCalzelunghe · 18/01/2008 09:15

bran have you got an english accent when you speak italian?

Brangelina · 18/01/2008 10:00

I have an accent, but I don't know if it's specifically an English accent. I often get asked where I'm from, then when I say England they reply ah si, si sente . If it was so obvious why did you ask me? I think if people know I'm English then they hear the accent, if they don't then I'm only vaguely straniera and sometimes it takes a while for them to realise I have a foreign accent. A lot of people think I'm French, which is strange because I don't have that dodgy "r".

I was once in Ferrara and this guy asked me where I was from, so I said Milano, to which he replied, ah si, si sente....

Rosa · 18/01/2008 13:43

gio71 well done for coming here! hopefully you'll have a laugh and we'll be of some help.

hothell how are you today? hope you're better. it wasn't too bad fopr me as I was very panicky and all over the place with DD1 as she was not expected to 'exist' so soon IYSWIM. I am sorry you feel this c**p but that makes me also more relaxed re my own mood swings. you will cope brilliantly, DS will love his little b/s and you and me will meet up in Coram fields and moan and moan about our DH/DP?

I've seen ellbell in another thread, do you know if she's okay?

Rosa · 20/01/2008 09:43

But no !!! Oh well ladies back to the ironing and packing .

Morning all, thanks for the welcome. Reading papers online and trying to work out how long will leave dp to sleep(rolled in at 2.30 after night out), we're meant to be going to the coast for lunch today so am starting to resent him!
Got DS's outfit for carnival yesterday, very cute cowboy costume. Is it too early to start dressing him up do you reckon? I saw a couple of Princesses dressed up when out shopping yesterday. DP reckons too early and helpfully pointed out ds isn't a doll but he looks so cute in it...

gio71 · 20/01/2008 09:49

Rosa, ds loads better now thanks although if he doesnt stop trying to stuff his hand in the dvd player he won't be for long! Perhaps I should go and stop him and get off MN for a bit? Good luck with your packing.

PippiCalzelunghe · 20/01/2008 13:25

go for it gio. I wish we had carnevale here. i dresses DD as a pumpkin when she was about the same age for halloween.
and they ARE our dolls !!!

off to cook some roast chicken.

francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2008 18:51

hothell how are you feeling?
I'm now looking forward to dh coming back, he should be here in a week time. My parents are lovely and they are helping me a lot, but I'm starting to feel claustrophobic. I think we'll move to the new flat on wednesday.

PippiCalzelunghe · 20/01/2008 19:02

I was going to ask when he was coming back. any offers yet?

francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2008 19:05
