Ciao - Everybody Welcome.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 13:03

hello and welcome wotz

wotz · 12/01/2008 13:08

Hi franca

We would love to go to Italy for a family holiday, DH has been, the children and I haven't. It looks so lovely you are all very lucky if you have lived (or live) there......

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 13:12

Ciao wotz! Get on that plane then....

Yes, they do offer both tests, unusual I know...1% miscarriage rate sounds reasonable I guess.

Are you reading anything interesting?

francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 13:21

ciao wotz, we have just moved back to Italy after 8 yrs (12 for dh) in the uk. we are in Milan, which is far from being lovely... but it's were I grew up and I actually masochistically (does this word exist?) like it.
If you need tips on where/when to go etc we'll be happy to help.
hothell, I'm not reading anything at the moment don't have the time! I need inspiration...

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 13:25

Chesil beach by Mcewans (sp?)? Meant to be good and short, might be nice for you to read in English to fill your nostalgia.

What's the main story on the Italian news? What happened about the murder of the english girl in perugia? (cronaca nera emoticon)

francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 13:31

Haven't had the time to read a newspaper or watching the news really.
Main news are the spazzatura in Naples. Really sad.
Perugia: I think there might be a stain of Sollecito's blood on Meredith's bra.
Most alarming news: Giuliano Ferrara, supported by Cardinale Ruini and some other catholic politicians wants a moratoria of the 194 law, to limit abortion .
AS soon as I have more time for myself (hopefully in a week time) I'll go to the English bookshop and will have a good ol browse.

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 13:39

Is Giuliano Ferrara a fat repellant man (no offence to fat men anywhere) who is repulsive/disgusting bllllleahghh fahljfalflks and worked for Berlusconi?

francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 13:44

yes he is, he has only recently reinvented himself as a teocon, which makes him even more repulsive than before...

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 14:55

Puke!
what's a teocon? a theology expert?

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/01/2008 15:33

YUPPPPIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Hhell!!!!!!!!!!
[smile ][ smile]

well done!!! I knew you were pg!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/01/2008 15:42

that came out all weird! anyway super congrats! I am so happy for you and please share all your symptoms/worries/emotion/mood swings with us.

welcome wotz! let us know if you need any tips.

re discussion with DH: we had a row yesterday which did not resolve anything. Today he was all helpful though and we are fine. still issues to be resolved though on what we expect from this marriage. bored to death about this subject so I won't go on. fed up of even thinking/talking about it. I'd rather talk about hothell constipation !!!

what's a teocon? he's revolting all right, didn't he lose weight though?

Rosa · 12/01/2008 16:24

I had CV at 12 weeks and I thought it did eliminate Spina biffida to be honest - Doc said it covered more than amnio . I did not investigate lots just did as I was told!!

Hi Wotz we have most of Italy covered I think between us ..Havent seen Michy for a while ....

OP posts:
hotHELL · 12/01/2008 17:07

michy has disappeared, and ellbells too, off to their more interesting lives. ci siete ragazze?

i keep falling asleep. and i am already constipated, constantly thirsty. i would want to have more symptoms though, as i fret a little.

i read your thread pippi on dadsnet, hard insn;it. I will have to have talks with my dp if this pregnancy sticks about shared tasks. as he hates to be told what to do, and will do the opposite in fact, i will have to be particularly strategic. ideally it would be great to give him a list of things to do with timescales, and get him to report back once he has done them all. but even i realize that that is a bit of a mad way to carry on a relationship.

i will probably say that we have to share things in such a way as to avoid me having a postnatal breakdown in which i kill both newborn and toddler, that will probably do it.

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 17:09

Last time i rowed with dp, ds came out of the bedroom half asleep to say 'stop rowing, you always do it', we felt so little. And we don't row that much, exactly because we don't like to do it with him at home.

francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 17:52

teocon is the Italian version of theoconservative...
hothell, constipation: during both my pgs I got hooked to supposte di glicerina carlo erba, I can send you a packet if you wish

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 17:58

don't think i can cope with putting things up my bum right now, let's see how it goes.

francagoestohollywood · 12/01/2008 18:11

no supposte? hothell you are proper english

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/01/2008 18:15

I was incredibily constipated with first pg. so second time I got loads of linseeds and fibre etc. but I wasn't at all. linseed works though.

DH has been brilliant today, has been with DD almost all the time. I think he got the point although won;t admit it and feels 'accusato' when I speak to him as if he is useless and doesn;t do anything, like I described him in the other thread, which isn't really. anyway will see how it goes. I am sure I am panicking as well and try to get everyone in line for when DD2 arrives (as if).
anyway, will see...

Brangelina · 12/01/2008 19:24

Hhell, get a CVS. I had one and like Rosa was told they could detect more things including Spina Bifida. A big advantage of this is that it can be done from 11-13 weeks so if there are problems and you have to make a decision it's less traumatic. If you're in London go to King's, they're the ones who pioneered it and are the best apparently.

Got to dash now as cartoni have finished but will be back later to chat longer.

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 20:05

Will check the CVS and King's. Thank you, you are all very kind.
dOES anyone know how to cook orange lentils? Everytime I cook them they turn into immediately into a guey mush...

Brangelina · 12/01/2008 20:10

They always turn to mush, that's the advantage of them. I usually parboil them on their own first to skim the froth so they're less sticky. I don't know if that really does make a difference but my grandfather used to do that when making Indian dishes.

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 20:15

was he indian?

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 20:15

was he indian?

Brangelina · 12/01/2008 20:45

No, he just lived there a long time. Both my grandpaernts (English and Italian) did, that's how my parents met.

hotHELL · 12/01/2008 21:08

ahhhh, didnt realize you were half and half. DO you feel more english or italian?
