Ciao - Everybody Welcome.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/03/2008 12:44

You'll just have to take it home then and uncork it next autumn.

Rosa · 12/03/2008 12:48

It will have to stay in the restaurant if it is in my house I will sniff it or just sip/ slurp it. It is a lovely barricato from somewhere in the Veneto and it has a woody yet dry ( but not too much) taste. It goes yummy with pesce crudo , king crab , and gamberi ..So bugger to all that as well !!

OP posts:
Brangelina · 12/03/2008 12:50

Oh, I think you're allowed to sniff or maybe even have a small glass, but that would mean your dh sacrificing himself and drinking the rest, which is not fair....

Rosa · 12/03/2008 13:06

Exactly he did say that he would go and quality control it for me .
I have just read DD the Pimple...she asks for pimple with spots... Pimpa to you and me I personally don't like it but she seems to it was a birthday present she had another about a donkey but it is too much of a tongue twister in Italian for me.

OP posts:
hotHELL · 12/03/2008 15:08

che????????
are you pregnant rosa?

hotHELL · 12/03/2008 15:16

la pimpa e' fantastica!!!!!
e allora sei incinta? (won't tell the broody lot)

Brangelina · 12/03/2008 15:49

Pimpa is on drugs, she (he?) sees things like apples with wings on them. Am not keen on it myself, when I was a babysitter I had to sit through hours of the stuff on video and am now scarred for life.

You know, maybe this pg thing is contagious, first Pippi, then you Hhell, then Rosa... who will it get next I wonder? I know when I was pg I managed to infect half the female employees on my floor (my boss was happy) and most of my clients, so maybe this is the same

Rosa · 12/03/2008 17:21

This one is her first Pimpa book and I honestly thought the same thing when I read it the guy who wrote it was on drugs. It has a musical cd with it so I am hoping that when that is played all will be revealed.
Off to drink mint tea ..sending hormonal vibes to Brangelina......

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 12/03/2008 18:05

`you are pregnant rosa????? ! that was quick, congratulations!!!

(Pimpa is fab!!!! )

francagoestohollywood · 12/03/2008 18:10

the guy who created Pimpa is Altan, who is a great (left wingy) cartoonist. He created it for his dd if I remember well, saying that of course very young children are able to speak to anything, like Pimpa does...
I think she is the italian answer to Maisy , they are both feminists

gio71 · 12/03/2008 18:32

congratulations Rosa!!!! and a little bit
when are you due? when did you find out?
Make a cake to celebrate (and send a slice to Rome)

gio71 · 12/03/2008 18:34

am going to make a bellini, maybe smoke an illicit cigarette (am almost a non smoker )and start the Rome branch of our club Brange....

Rosa · 12/03/2008 19:17

FOund out about 3 days ago so Am guessing mid November . 1st apt with doc April 1st .Have changed doc and am hoping he will be better and give me more fiducia than the last one. Am in shock as did not expect it to happen so soon I was sort of aiming for No2 in a year so to get some practice in beforehand...Yeah right ! SO Franca you coming over to practice your ostetrica course on me ???? Isn't the introduction day soon ??
Well listened to the Pimpa CD and that is rubbish ..Its a jazz background and the tunes are not even catchy. However I have said we will get a proper pimpa book that is not filastroche ( that don't rhyme).

hotHELL · 12/03/2008 19:34

wow, i take it all back, early pregnancy is a walk in a sunny meadow!

francagoestohollywood · 12/03/2008 20:31

gio, now I'm craving a cigarette... naughty naughty

Rosa, I went to the open day of the lauree brevi per le professioni sanitarie (22 courses in total) at the Universita' Statale. First of all I'd like to point out that...
... all the potential students were.... half my age!!!!!
I chatted to the woman responsible for the midwifery course, and she reassured me that it's not uncommon to have mature students, though I was a bit .
There is an entry test, with 80 questions, sounds like I must revise math, biology and physics !!! I am at the moment thinking of giving it a try. I'm also interested in this "terapia della neuro e psicomotrocita' dell'eta' evolutiva", you can apply to both and do one test.
Rosa, November!!! I'm so excited for you!

Rosa · 13/03/2008 08:09

Franca you must go for it. I think that it will be great for you. Ok so get revising ...Sorry can't help with the maths thats my weakest subject.
So what if they were all half your age you have the experience of being a mum I know who I would choose to help me give birth !!
Hot see after 12 weeks it all gets better am pleased that the nausea has gone. I am feeling rough in the evening but fine in the day and dh got up with dd this morning at 6.30 so that was so nice.
Spring here today as well now do I risk Nonna and take dd out no hat ...Maybe I will stuff it in my pocket incase we meet her !

OP posts:
hotHELL · 13/03/2008 09:38

lol rosa, this nonna is a bit of a rompi..., no?
really windy and cold here...

Rosa · 13/03/2008 11:24

She is a bit of a rompi and she doesn't agree with some of my methods. Anyway we went out no hat and it was lovely we also went to the park and dd went on the 'big' slide for the first time....The park is only bearable in the morning as in the pm it is packed and the little ones don't get a look in.
If its cold there then its bound to come down here sooner than later !
Right must go and do lunch .

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 13/03/2008 12:31

You're already past 12 weeks rosa??
Why wouldn't nonna want you to take dd out is she crazy? The weather is perfect here in Milan, is it the same in Venice?

Yesterday I was talking to my friend, the one with the huge PFB syndrome, saying I was by the amount of mothers carrying small children on bikes without a helmet (see how british I have become?? ) and she said, yes and without sciarpa and cappello too!! Yesterday there were 15 degrees at 9 am. mean, come on! At times I think that I could have become the same, had I not lived in England for such a long time!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 13/03/2008 12:34

Rosa, yesterday I chatted to a lovely girl who is graduating in midwifery in April. She must have been what 21, 22? she was so proud of what she was doing, I hope that the new generations will be more enthusiastic and break the Italian tradition of grumpy infermiere and doctors...
Why do you think you need to feel more confident about your pg self?

gio71 · 13/03/2008 12:45

lol lol lol at without sciarpa and cappello too
love it.
My ds has a very annoying habit of taking of shoes and socks as soon as he gets bored in his buggy. When he does this in the supermarket i now leave him barefooted til we go out to save my sanity. On average 5 or 6 well meaning signore come up to me in that time to comment on how cold his feet must be. all have the same sudden look of understanding as soon as hear my Italian with English accent response. I used to be very polite at their "concern", now more likely to snap that he's got English blood, he'll survive!

francagoestohollywood · 13/03/2008 12:52

lol!!!

Rosa · 13/03/2008 13:57

No I am not past 12 weeks ..I must be only about 4 or 5 at the mo. It was hot suddenly feeling better so she must be round 12 weeks by now.
I am concerned as I was hoping to be in better shape to deal with this pg . I am also hoping that the doc will be human as the last one had a good reputation but he had zero bedside manner if you know what I mean- I just diddnt feel I could ask him anything out of the normal. Plus he stressed me so much about my weight that I don't want the added stress. I am seeing doc on April 1st......Lets hope there will be no pesce di aprile.
I am going to try and find dds cuffia di cottone just as it keeps the peace when there is a bit of wind round. Gio get starchild shoes they can't get em off !!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 13/03/2008 14:07

sorry, I misunderstood!
Finding a doctor with good bedside table in Italy is not that easy, but possible. My ginecologa was lovely... but then I can't travel all the way to Milan, can you? .
Have to go and clean the bathroom, we have friends for dinner and the house is a pit. Good thing about it being small is that it takes no time to clean it up

francagoestohollywood · 13/03/2008 14:07

LOL I have just written bed side table . I'm loosing it completely
