Ciao - Everybody Welcome.

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 14/01/2008 14:48

just want to share this disgusting thing: our dog is so old she's started not been able to hold the wee and sometimes she does it inside.
can I take any more s**t (literally and non )!!!!! [fed up emoticon]

rosa I'd keep anything for memory too...

hotHELL · 14/01/2008 14:58

poor doggy, i suppose there is nothing you can do, and you cannot exactly kick her out. I must say that a dog that pisses everywhere, a 2 year old and a baby sound like a terrible combination.

PippiCalzelunghe · 14/01/2008 16:02

exactly. just went to see the midwife:she's so lovely. they're just so understaffed though. I'm supposed to be seen again in two weeks time but she's full so we'll have to do with GP !

re: strep b, she told me to tell GP when I see him that I have had some discharge so I can get it done through NHS.

francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2008 16:44

Ciao! Back from another full day. dd stayed at my mum's, but has been well and now hasn't had any temp for the whole day (now 37.2...). took ds to nursery, went to our new flat and tidy up, missed the messo comunale for the bloody residenza, made an appointment, you were right brangelina, now they come and check !
went for the waxing (relieved emoticon)
hothell, not sure how scuole materne compare with english nurseries. most of my friends are really happy about the scuole materne comunali in Milan (and there is no pressure to follow a national curriculum, I don't think they spend too much time doing academic things, which I like). the dc now are going to a private one, which is really swish and big and they even cook their own food on the premises... the staff seems lovely, but then I loved the dc's engolish nursery as well, which was def less clean, but it was a very loving environment which is th main thing.
my dh wouldn't throw away anything nor does he ever feel the need to buy something new. I had to force him to buy a wionter jacket last year as his coat was a mess. But it was an expensive coat he replied. yes, 7 yrs ago and he wore it in the english weather nearly everyday...

francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2008 16:46

pippi insist on having the b strep done

hotHELL · 14/01/2008 19:19

interesting about this strep b thing, good old nhs....
io sono molto pelosa [fed up emoticon]

francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2008 20:36

actually the nhs doesn't offer the strep b routinely...
I'm watching a fab fab interview of Francesco De Gregori on La Sette. He is very intelligent, and speaks well, which on Italian tv is a rarita'... (anni 70 emoticon)

PippiCalzelunghe · 14/01/2008 21:19

I will insist. In fact I only asked the midwife if she could recommend a private place and she told me the GP trick. I'll def try it. she's so lovely. if I get her when giving birth I promise not to scream !

francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2008 21:25

screaming???

PippiCalzelunghe · 14/01/2008 21:54

scientology?

hotHELL · 14/01/2008 22:15

AGGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
fARO' LA STESSA COSA, after your post PIPPI, [WINK] gps might be inundated by pregnant women with mysterious discharges.....

hotHELL · 14/01/2008 22:17

sorry about caplocks, got overexcited. Off to bed, cannot believe it I am still up.
I loved Generale di Francesco De Gregori....[missing Italy emoticon]

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 08:31

morning.

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 08:32

hhell does you ds speak italian to you?

francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2008 08:44

morning, how are things?

hotHELL · 15/01/2008 10:24

Buongiorno!

only if he wants to tell me something he does not want ohter people (his dad) to understand, and now and then some expressions that he doesn't know how to say in english, but otherwise mainly in english.
Girls, when does morning sickness kick in? I remember being as sick as a dog with ds, maybe after 6 weeks or so. Worrying that I don't have it yet....moan moan. Only feel a tad queasy, and it goes away if I eat.

francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2008 10:29

around six weeks, possibly later with dd. queasy is good, you might not get full on morning sickness this time, who knows?

hotHELL · 15/01/2008 10:41

grazie. [paranoid emoticon]
here is raining and it's windy, what's the weather like in milan? when are you moving to your flat?
pippi how do you feel about the pregnancy? arrival of new dd? it's strange no?

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 11:09

it didn't start straight away with me either, possibly 6/7 weeks. Don't wish it... it's the most awful thing. I wasn't sick but nauseous all the time. disgusting. that's the main thing that would put me off having another.

pg is going great. after the first trimester is a doddle for me. okay I get tired and moody but overall it's fine (except for not findinding anything that fits nicely and looking a mess!)

looking forward to DD although worried about how I'd cope the first few months as I am not very good with all that neediness and worry that she'll be one of those colicky (sp) baby.

this weather is very miserable.

so most likely DD1 will stop speaking italian when she starts school? it's full on italian atm.

francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2008 11:31

it's raining here, but not windy and not as cold as last week.
I'm so tired, and I'm not even pg.
Have also started to look for summer holidays, but our friends can only go in august. we were thinking of going to greece. have you got any tips?

Brangelina · 15/01/2008 12:00

Summer holidays? How organised is that? I daren't even think of summer holidays as we're bound to have the same problem as last summer and this Christmas. Any ideas on where I can go as a single mum with DD?

Pippi, there's no need for your DD to lose her Italian. I can understand your pov as I'm worried about my DD and her English and even thought about sending her to an English school (thread about it). I'm sure if you keep up speaking it at home and holiday as frequently as possible in Italy you shoud be able to maintain it. I think you do have to insist a bit and be consistent but it's not impossible.

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 12:12

Our summer holiday will be in september. we normally go in june but not prepared to go with a 2months and a toddler. haven't decided yet.

greece is great. only problem is august, so hot and crowded everywhere. there was an article in the sunday times about the island of Skopelos, which sounded good.

bran what's the problem. why can dp not go? come with us .

I am looking at bathrooms... my god they are expensive.

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 12:19

today I am in 'I cannot be bothered' mood! it's soo grey outside.

I'm sitting here huffing and puffing ...

PippiCalzelunghe · 15/01/2008 12:23

article on skopelos

ernest · 15/01/2008 12:53

hi hothell, congrats on pg. don't worry - I've been pg 4 times (well, 3.4) and have never had morning sickness - it's not compulsory

Hi franca, how's it going?

Thanks for earlier info and tips on school brangelina. If we had to pay I doubt I'd be sending ours there either. Unbelievably expensive was very to see prices. But as I don't want kids in an Italian school, no disprespect at all to Italians or italian schools of course, we haven't really got any choice. I don't know anything about literacy in the UK as mine have gone only to swiss schools. I have heard of jolly phonice but know absolutely nothing about it. I know at sjh they use thrass, but again, don't know much about this either. But hey, ds1 & ds2 managed to learn to read without either so I'm not too bothered. More concerned about poor little ds3 having to start school so early at all, but then, as I will have a new born it will also have an obvious big advantage for me, and I guess for him, as he'll be in the british system straight away. poor ds1 & 2...

will be coming to Milan end of Jan after all. dh got very shirty and miffed to learn I wasn't planning to come during school holidays. We have last week of Jan & 1st week of feb off. Feb we go to Austria skiing. He wants me to drive fo 1st week of holidays to Milan, even tho he'll be working, so I'll be alone all day anyway, don't know anybody, can't speak the language, in a house with 1 small table, 2 chairs & 1 single bed and NOTHING else. sigh. men.
