Ohhhh, I long for a house with a garden, but we would have to move, and I like the inner city. What is K Spacey playing in? I saw him in an O'Neil play (cultured emoticon) before ds was born!
Bran will follow your advice re cvs and get round the system.
Do you think Franca is still skiing?
Rosa, how much is a 2 bed room flat in Venice? It must be higher than London prices I guess, no What about other islands, Pellestrina (sp?), or places like Mestre (pretty ugly I know...).

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 10:53

hhell kevin spacey on this.

builders have started loft today...noisy and messy but I am so so happy... finally smthing is happening and soon(ish) I'll have storage and get rid of all these boxes .

our dog died on fri .

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 11:36

franca miss you too.... hurry up!

Rosa · 12/02/2008 13:18

An average 2 bed can cost from Euro 450,000 to 600,000 then you have the nicer and the crappier ones so its not small money . Pelestrina is miles out and Mestre it is not doing too well as far as crime is concerned we would have to go a good way in which as I said we might as well move to the mountains or Lake Garda at that point !
As I look at my dining table it has paints, puzzles, DH stuff and the water jug . Now the kitchen table is better just the drying up and the fruit bowl ! Thing is we have space but it poorly laid out and needs a complete re vamp . Owner won't sell pity really .
Sorry about your dog pippi was it old ? Good about the builders how long are they going to be there?
Dh is off for the day and so I must profit whilst dd is napping to do something she is really starting to push my paitence with No No No No No at the moment ...Might ask for some advice

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 13:54

yup that is expensive!

dog was very very old and struggling so it's for the best, hers and ours tbh. still sad though especially for dh who had her for 16 years. house much cleaner though .

loft will take 4 weeks. they have done so much in a day already I am so so happy. start to see the rewards of having lived out of boxes in a 4 bedroom bedsit for almost a year!

must get up and do stuff now!

hotHELL · 12/02/2008 14:57

your poor dh, first his dad, then the dog, you will have to be extra tender to him.
lol at house being cleaner though
rosa that's lots of money, but it is venice though. i remember eating really nice fish in palestrina...
Pippi when did your nausea go? i am getting fed up now, everything disgusts me...

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 15:04

mine did go bang on at 12 weeks like the first time. What happened with your first? I was quite confident it would go although I did hear of those who feel like this all the way thorugh. I think I'd have died or dh would have left me. Hang on in there, it gets worse then finally it's over. How many weeks are you now?
Are you going to find out the sex? please do I cannot wait!!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 15:06

btw I went to coram fields yesterday... it was lovely but the bloody cafe was closed.
see I am 7 month pg and do all this things, you'll feel fine again even if it's hard to believe at this stage.

Rosa · 12/02/2008 17:19

Crikey Pippi 7 mths I thought it was more like 5 ..So whats the actual due ish date ???
DH been of up the mountains with his mate but they diddnt ski as his mate had a sore knee so they went for the food !!!!
Tommorrow I might just take the car and go shopping for dd birthday as rest of this week is pretty full . Next week I will be in wrong frame of mind as this w/e its my birthday a big milestone and I know I will be fuming about what I diddn't get, and be in totally the wrong frame of mind and then parents come on 2/3 ( thankfully and will cheer me up as mum will get me ME things ). DH has already said I will either like or hate his present when he says that it is usually something technical or more for him than me. We also have our wedding anniversary and valentines day I usually get one bunch of flowers and that 'does me' for all three !!!!
Oh well back to dd - demanding attention

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 17:26

rosa due date is 15/4 but italian gynecologist reckoned it'll be earlier. so I am preparing myself for the beginning of april. I am so big god knows how can I grow more.

birthday when grown-up are such a let down, don;t you think? the expectation are the same of when we were kids but no one (except mums) seem to care as much and do it as good. I could have killed dh last year, he go a last minute present and came home asking me where we should go for dinner and ending up at the local pub . In his defense he wasn;t all with it because of his dad so I didn's say anything. Could help being disappointed though.

hotHELL · 12/02/2008 19:48

i am only 9 weeks, and it seems to have got a lot worse the last few days, basically i have nausea the WHOLE fucking time, it's hideous. last time it went at the end of the first trimester. i cannot believe it i wanted it so much the sickness to feel properly pregnant. [idiot emoticon]
they are meant to open a new cafe there at cf, i used to love their soups, cheap and nice and hot.
where do you go by car around venice?

PippiCalzelunghe · 12/02/2008 21:02

idiot emoticon for me too then as I was kind of waiting for the sickness... [daft].
only 3 weeks... resisti!!! It'll feel like a dream to be 'normal' again.

apparently the'll finish the loft in 3 weeks too. the roof has already been commpletely opened today. incredible.

I used to love the cafe at cf too, simple and nice. I bet they're going to put something more fancy and expensive ala starbuck.

hotHELL · 13/02/2008 11:43

I thought it would take longer for a loft, at least 6 weeks anyway.
Good it all gets sorted before baby comes.

Rosa · 13/02/2008 12:39

When we go onto the mainland ( we keep the car on Tronchetto) we go shopping to the big shopping centres ( cheaper - more variety ) When its warmer we go to the beach - or just days out really anything to escape this place but it takes 40 mins just to get to the car. When I go it then takes dh 2 or 3 trips up and back to get the stuff from the boot ( we have a BIG boot!)
Hot it will go as soon as it came ..don't worry. Try mint tea or ginger but I couldn't cope with ginger !
I diddn3.t .01go 0 ( dd ) go out today maybe tomorrow .
No news of Franca hope all is ok .

Brangelina · 13/02/2008 12:49

Where do you park your car? Must be hell if you have lots of shopping. Can you even get your shopping delivered? Do they use a vaporetto? Sorry, stupid questions I'm sure but I've always been curious.

Rosa · 13/02/2008 13:38

The car is on Tronchetto which is the island just above Piazzale Roma ( but we might have to move it MIL problems ...another story) We tend to get a big shop delivered usually in spring which consists of loads of juice, water, tins of toms, drinks etc all heavy big things. We have to spend a minimum of Euro 250 for free delivery and it is time consuming as you load the trolleys usually 2 un pack at tills then you have to put them in bags at the other end ..then wait in all morning when they deliver it! Furniture etc the delivery charge is usally another 20 - 30 on top so we try to get things together.( I bought a bathroom unit and new computer chair !!) We do have a big car so I have been known to get the shelves or unit and the dh comes in the boat and meets me to unload it . Now we have dd its more fun. It really is a laugh a minute !!!

OP posts:
Rosa · 13/02/2008 13:40

Oh I have a wonderful shopping trolley actually 2 which is a lifesaver ( I am a whizz at packing !)I also find that the Ikea bag the big ones are great for odd shaped things or boxes .

OP posts:
Brangelina · 13/02/2008 13:41

Blimey, and I complain if DP parks too far up the road and I have to lug shopping bags and DD for more than 100 metres. I must learn to count my blessings.

Brangelina · 13/02/2008 13:44

Yes, I have a trendy trolley too, only never get around to using it as it takes up too much room in our tiny car. Add to that the fact that DD insists on pulling it despite the fact it weighs more thans she does and you can see why it's still in the cellar. I used to use in more in Milan where the shops were nearer/actually had stuff I wanted to buy.

Rosa · 13/02/2008 14:59

DD has a passion for my trolley as well she like sitting on it ( she saw her cousins doing it). But to be honest I can't do dd and trolley . Its dd and passegino with bags tied / hanging on ( best buy bag clips from Clippasafe @75p!) or dh and trolley and dd !

gio71 · 13/02/2008 16:33

does anyone know where I can buy a bloody Maclaren stroller from in Italy!!!! None of the stores in Rome seem to stock them, I cant find ANY online sites that will deliver to Rome (any recommendations would be v welcome) and I am desperate to get a lightweight stroller! Alternatively what are the Chicco ones like (seem to be everywhere) or any other brands? Main thing is I need something as robust as it is possible for a lightweight stroller to be as my ds is a big beefy lad and shows no sign of slowing down! Oh and must recline
Any ideas?
Very re your dog Pippi by the way

PippiCalzelunghe · 13/02/2008 16:42

gio new or used? do you already know which model? I ahve a chicco, bought for a fiver on ebay and works okay. I mean it's not brilliant but perfect for that price. doesn;t recline thought and it's quite flimsy, so maybe not your cup of tea.

I am going to pg on wednesday, if dh takes us to the airport I could get it for you and send it to rome, or you come and pick it up from pg.

hotHELL · 13/02/2008 17:08

i was very unimpressed with mclaren to be honest, ours broke pretty quickly and it just seemed cheap and nasty. how long are you going to be in pg then pippi?
do you think franca is skiing in the alps?

PippiCalzelunghe · 13/02/2008 17:29

no I think she said she was just going for the day. i think she is internet-less that's all. or maybe she has an exciting cosmopolitan milanese life now !

I'll be gone two weeks. plumber came over today and will start changing ch on wedn so dd and I must go unless we want to freeze to death and live in the rubble. poor old dh will stay behind and suffer.
I might be going to see dad too. It'll be great though, proper relaxing, me-time spoilt by mamma before dd2 comes along. I can catch up with all my friends etc (although a bit ashamed to be such a fatso) I just need to make sure to have the right certificate to fly back...
l'll probably have strep b and another scan done. oh the benefit of having two countries to chose from...

how are you doing today?
