Evening all. We have the concert on, but I've been proper LOLing at the snarky commentary at www.theguardian.com/music/live/2022/jun/04/queens-platinum-jubilee-concert-2022-follow-the-platinum-party-at-the-palace-live.

It's been cloudy and wind here today, but no rain yet. I have been LocalEventing again all day and then packed up and trundled back to do prep for day 4. All done and sorted, then came home to an email saying that Day 4 is cancelled due to weather forecast. So then I got back up off the sofa and went and unprepped all the preparations. Still at least I geta lie-in tomorrow! Silver linings etc.

(Is there some illuminated drone thing going on over Buckingham Palace? Why have they just shown a giant flying goose? #Baffled)

Anyway - jubilee stuff here. Several houses have vomited flags, bunting and red/white/blueness all over themselves in a completely OTT way. Lots of others have bunting and flags stung out in varying levels of enthusiasm. My favourite is one where their bunting just looks like they have a washing line of colourful undies marooned on their fence. Grin

Hope that everyone has had a lovely day! (Hurrah for tipsy afternoons with family!)

LetUsPrey · 05/06/2022 09:46

Morning wenches.

Sounds a very happy day indeed Fancy Smile

The goose baffled us too Helen. Was very impressed with the drone work though.

Lots of rain here today. I’m mentally preparing myself to tackle the ironing. Not sure of plans for the rest of the day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/06/2022 12:49

Afternoon all. today it is damp outside (possible 1cm rain overnight - DH swears he emptied the gauge, but if not, it was about 2mm rain!)

I am tired and achey, and we have run out of spuds, so I'm off to the farm shop.

FancyFancy · 05/06/2022 14:26

Damp and chilly here - it hammered down overnight. DD has headed off to work and I am a bit tired - not really looking forward to turning up to the street 'party' on my own tbh.

ApricotCrush · 05/06/2022 18:29

Evening. Much rain overnight, and it's really cold. I'm still in winter clothes, in June. Shock

We watched the concert last night and enjoyed most of it, the light show was amazing.

We've been watching the pageant this afternoon. Lots of filler, so I'm glad we recorded it and could fast forward the boring bits.

Have a good evening all.

Morning wenches.

<checks Tav stocks for massage necessities>
<passes necessities to HBFs for Helen>

Hope the party was okay if you went Fancy.

Jeans and jumper here too Apricot. We’ve had rain most of the day.

Not looking forward to the return to work tomorrow although I don’t particularly feel like I’ve had a long weekend.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/06/2022 20:23

Evening wenches. Today's handy hint - don't hit your fingers when you're hammering in tacks. Confused <ouch>

Lots of rain here today. Jeans and jumper is the wench uniform of choice. About to watch TV (surprise subscription to DisneyPlus and Obi Wan for DS), so laptop is being shut...

LetUsPrey · 06/06/2022 07:43

Morning wenches.

Handy hint there Helen. Hope your fingers recover.

Monday is here and is very much living up to its reputation. Everything is very urgh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/06/2022 08:25

Morning all. I'm also unimpressed with Mondays LetUs, even if I don't have to leave the house to do work.

Another 3m of rain overnight, so that's 3cm in 36 hours I think. Sodding Evil Kitten has been out catching birds again - I think the rain gives him cover, in that the birds are less likely to hear him. Poor birds :( Sodding kitten. (Who also climbed up onto my lap and was adorable. <le sigh> )

FancyFancy · 06/06/2022 10:16

Morning. Very soggy here too. And not very warm either.
May watch some of the jubilee stuff on catch up so I can fast forward through the dull bits.

The street party was fine actually - very informal, some people provided food and drink which was set up about half way along the street so it was mostly just groups standing around chatting while the children whizzed around. Was a good opportunity to meet some of the people who've moved in over the last few years - silly work hours and covid haven't helped with that.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 06/06/2022 11:00

Planned to get up a bit early today so of course I slept in 🙄
Sweden’s National Day today, had to google why we celebrate it 😂 Still think Midsummer feels more like our National Day.

ApricotCrush · 06/06/2022 17:36

Afternoon. Still cold and miserable here.

Ouch at finger Helen. And bad Kitten. Shock

Glad the street party went well Fancy. Nothing happened round here, which I'm rather glad about really. We have nice neighbours, but it was too cold to hang around chatting.

Hope work hasn't been too bad LetUs.

Happy Sweden Day WW.

Evening wenches.

EvilKitten is very good at being CuteKitten. It’s to be hoped they don’t get mixed up and try to snuggle up with the birds!

Your street party sounds like it was a lot of fun Fancy.

Happy National Day Wicked 🇸🇪

Work was as aarrrgghh as usual but no matter. DS2 has discovered Murder, She Wrote. Next step is to try him on Midsomer Murders Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/06/2022 20:14

Evening all. We had a village picnic thing cancelled yesterday because of weather. And then a fete thingy in the village hall. A significant amount of today has been spent helping take apart all the VillageEvent preparations.

Good to hear that DS2 is developing compatible viewing tastes LetUs Grin I've just been inflicting the Sandman trailer from Netflix on Ds and DH - it look awesome!!! <flails>

I plan to have a bath shortly.

LetUsPrey · 07/06/2022 07:45

Morning wenches.

Outdoor things getting cancelled in June because of the weather is ridiculous. Stop raining and being windy!

Sun is trying to break through here but not really warm.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/06/2022 08:02

FML what happened to my post? FFS. Sunny.cloudy/dry. No bird carnage yet, though there are mouse remains on the patio. That's my morning so far.

See if MN will deign to post this ultra-exciting information this time...

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 07/06/2022 16:46

Afternoon. It's gone surprisingly warm. I spent an hour outside. Shock

Shame about your village picnic and fete Helen. There were to be festivities in the village-up-the-road but they were cancelled too. Sad Not that we were going but still...

Hope KillerKitten leaves the birds alone.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 07/06/2022 19:45

Evening wenches.

It did go unexpectedly warm here too. 23° according the car on the way home!

Hope the carnage level remained at mouse and did not advance to bird.

It’s been very hectic at work but I’m trying to make myself not just sit on the settee all evening. It’s not working so far.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/06/2022 21:44

Evening all. It was nice and warm this afternoon, and (touch wood<nlt>) the carnage was only mice.

Today was work-ish and not much else. I've sorted tea, we're watching TV, (DS has also been lego-ing) and I still need to put the bins out. Rock'n'Roll Hmm I'd better check what bin it is this week... (control your excitement wenches)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/06/2022 07:28

Morning wenches. It's tipping down outside. DS has lost one of his school books, so I've been looking for that whilst trying to eat breakfast, and I am shortly heading off to BoringOfficeJob to continue my life of glamour and fascination. Hmm
Hope everywench has a good day.

PS - no carnage has been presented to me yet. KillerKitty is OutragedKitty because he jumped up on the windowsill, and I shoved him outside. (He's only allowed on that windowsill as a route to go out.) He was horrified to discover it was still raining out there, and even more horrified by me telling him that he knew the rules and making him go out. There will be a rather DampKitty appearing through the catflap shortly.

LetUsPrey · 08/06/2022 07:44

Morning wenches.

I do love the tales of VariousMoodKitty Grin

Ah the early morning schoolbook search. This is something I’m very familiar with.

Have given up shouting DS2 to get up. If he’s late, not my problem.

Rain here. Bored of it now. Have swapped early finish to tomorrow and we’re out tonight so hopefully being tired will equal good night’s sleep.

FancyFancy · 08/06/2022 14:25

No I haven't been washed away - have got friends staying so am a bit busy 😁

ApricotCrush · 08/06/2022 16:41

Afternoon. No rain here, but no sun either. I was going to get up and do some tidying in the garden as it's bin day here too, but they came at 9 o'clock and I was still in bed. Shock Ah well, I've started to fill the bin for next time.

Hope Kitten didnt get too damp.

Enjoy your evening LetUs and your friends staying Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/06/2022 19:22

Evening all. DampKitty came back in a dried himself off rubbed himself affectionately against my legs, which were instantly sodden. Hmm Grin

Work was workish - the usual horror of going back after a break and trying to remember how on earth the new systems work again Sad Then there was an accident on the main route home, everywhere was gridlocked and I added 45 minutes to my journey time and missed 90% of parents' evening. DH says he's doing well and the teachers are happy with him, so that's the main thing.

DH is out tonight so it's another round of cooking. I can't be arsed. <slumps on sofa>

Hurrah for nights out though, and visiting friends. Boo to inconvenient bin-pickups. Ours wasn't today, which makes sense because they always run late after bank holidays.

LetUsPrey · 08/06/2022 21:01

Evening wenches.

I shall need a winch to get me to the hayloft. I’ve had fish and chips.

DH was late home too though as there were accidents on lots of different motorways which are quite close to each other so everyone was on the A and B roads. Seems to have been the evening for it. I think the accidents weren’t serious in terms of injury thankfully.

Well done MiniHelen ⭐️

Hurrah for friends visiting Fancy! Hopefully you’ll get some better weather Apricot so you can relax in the garden rather than do gardening.
