Evening wenches.

Oh your poor DD Apricot Sad. Hope she starts feeling better and staying better soon.

That was good of MiniHelen. LovelyMIL loved her gift I made and put it on straight away. FaceTimed DS1 who seems to be doing a super job of looking after his girlfriend.

This weekend has whizzed by.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2022 07:54

Morning all. It's cloudy and misty and generally dank out there. CuteKitten is swinging between cute and killer; IntelligentCat is snuggled upstairs on the bed.

Nothing interesting going on here. I might nip out to buy a bigger pot for the garden later. And we're out of bread. That's the height of my exciting news Hmm.

LetUsPrey · 28/03/2022 08:12

Morning wenches.

Grey here too. The hail forecast for later in the week was replaced by sleet but that’s gone now too.

Nothing exciting here either.

FancyFancy · 28/03/2022 10:10

Morning.
Mother's Day was going swimmingly - DD treated me to complimentary from her work cinema tickets (plus snacks that she did pay for) then DS and I went halves on a cracking Chinese takeaway and had a nice long chat over a beer. Then I made the mistake of checking on the pressure in the boiler due to the the hot water still not working and there being strange noises from the plumbing. It was low so I topped it up, creating a new noises - which DS and I eventually found out was water dripping from the top of the boiler all the way down. So now there is no hot water or heating and because we needed to go to bed and couldn't wait for the dripping to stop, I turned off the mains too so at least there was no chance of a flood.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2022 13:19

Argh! But you've only just had the plumber out Fancy - what did he do?!
Better wrap yourself in HBFs to keep warm until you get heating back.

FancyFancy · 28/03/2022 17:15

I think there was a tiny leak in a valve that meant the pressure was low and water escaped, but was so slow that the leak wasn't spotted and the pressure in the boiler dropped, hence the initial problem with the hot water. Plumber repressured the boiler to what it should be, but the damaged valve couldn't cope with the pressure and got worse and leaked again, but again not so bad that I noticed the leak. Then I repressured the boiler last night at which point the poor valve gave up the ghost, hence the noticeable leak. Anyhoo, spoke to the plumber, he will be round tomorrow morning and he did confirm that it's ok to have the mains back on. So we have running water again. Cold running water. I may have to watch Bridgerton in the hope that Lord Shagger will disrobe to raise my temperature Grin

ApricotCrush · 28/03/2022 17:21

Afternoon wenches. Well, it turned out to be another lovely day, but I was up to date with the washing so feel that it's been wasted on that front.

Oh Fancy, what a pain. Love your description of the problem. Star Hope you get it sorted soon.

Glad LovelyMIL loved her gift LetUs.

Evening wenches.

Yes, turned out nice here too.

I was a bit upset yesterday as my mum didn’t seem that fussed with her gift (same as the one for LovelyMIL - they don’t know I’ve done them one each) and it put of a downer on the day. DS2 hadn’t made any kind of effort either, hadn’t even gone out with DH to choose a card. I’ve always considered myself the least precious person about Mother’s Day but a bit of thought or effort from DS2 wouldn’t have gone amiss. DS1 was bringing his card with him but obviously couldn’t come down. Sigh. Is done now.

I’m super impressed with your plumbing know how Fancy! Good luck with Shaggerton.

Might have a bath tonight and continue the Richard Osman book I started last night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/03/2022 19:56

Oh LetUs Sad Its does suck when no-one appreciates what you've done or makes an effort. We appreciate you (and so does DS2 really. He's just, well, a teenage boy.)

We had a sea mist for most of the day, then it burnt off for a few hours this afternoon before coming back again this evening.

I'm also well impressed with Fancy's plumbing know-how, but at the cold water.

I'm reading one of DS's book at the moment, which is utterly not-taxing and great fun Grin

Confused at boiler Fancy

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2022 07:43

Morning. It's cloudy and dull again, though not misty today. I feel like going back to bed tbh. I also have a new project offer which I really want, but probably involves over-committing myself because another job is currently running about a month late (i.e. not even here yet) so it will all arrive at once and my stress levels will go whooooosh! I'll probably dooooooo iiiiiiiiiiitttttttt though because I really want to do this one that's just arrived.

Kitten is being sleepy and purry and adorable. And sliding off my lap. And gone. Oh well. That means I can go back to bed for a bit I suppose. Or mooch online for longer.

LetUsPrey · 29/03/2022 07:57

Morning wenches.

Thanks wenches.

Hope boiler gets sorted today Fancy.

Sun’s just come out here. Grin at kitten activity. You’ll be grand at both jobs Helen.

I need to get going but I just really can’t.

FancyFancy · 29/03/2022 09:03

Morning.
That sucks about Mother's Day Letus, I've had a couple of those and it really is miserable

Grey and a bit miserable here so not sure whether to spend the day gardening or do something warmer....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2022 10:49

Fancy - do something warmer

ApricotCrush · 29/03/2022 17:18

Afternoon. Nice day and I had a search around to find enough for a wash-load.

Oh LetUs, that's a shame. Flowers I had a birthday like that last year. Not the DCs fault, but DH's. He's very good at most things but remembering birthdays is not one of them even when it's been mentioned many times. Sad

Grin at doing something warmer.

Evening wenches.

I was feeling rather sorry for myself —and a bit cross with DH because fuck off with the Ferrero Rocher— but I’m over myself now.

Hope you managed to do —someone— something to keep warm Fancy.

Not a bad day but it’s chucking it down now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/03/2022 20:14

If it's any consolation LetUs my present on Mothers day was chocolate. Which I've given up for Lent (purely to prove that I can) Hmm

No rain here. Just cold and dull.

LetUsPrey · 29/03/2022 21:53

Only another two and a bit weeks to go then Helen. I’m trying to lose weight —and have no willpower— but chocolates were the easy thing to put in the trolley in the supermarket the day before.

In better news, DS1 might be coming home early next week. I’m off next week so hurrah!

FancyFancy · 29/03/2022 22:00

Those pics are certainly very warming....

Boiler seems to have been fixed, there's still an issue with the timer, but that can be worked around until I get the Nest wired in - looking forward to a nice hot shower tonight at last

I did do some gardening in the afternoon - more feeding & weeding while being chivvied by a robin who wanted me to hurry up & finish so they could hoover up the worms disturbed by my digging. Bossy little so and so.

Watched the end of series one of The Man in the High Castle. Am possibly more confused than ever.

LetUsPrey · 30/03/2022 07:35

Morning wenches.

Love the little robin chivvying you up with the gardening Fancy Smile. Hurrah for fixed boiler!

Is dreary here and we have that sleet on its way later. Most unreasonable.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/03/2022 07:39

Morning all. Same weather as yesterday.

DS slept in and I have to get out the door to BoringOfficeJob. Whoop Hmm

Have a good day all - hurrah for boilers, fingers crossed for timers, for any annoying work idiots who crop up along the way.

ApricotCrush · 30/03/2022 17:38

Afternoon. Miserable day, rain this afternoon.

Hurrah for boiler, LetUsDS1 coming home and chocolate in two weeks. Hmm

I’ve finished the jumper. Yay!! Now I’ve got to look for something else to knit. Confused

LetUsPrey · 30/03/2022 18:14

Evening wenches.

Hail as I left the house this morning, rain for most of the day and sleet on its way. Spring eh?

Well done on the finished jumper Apricot! I finished my latest project at the weekend and decided I could do with a break from knitting. That’s lasted to today when I’ve decided to carry on with one of the Harry Potter scarves that’s part done. Next proper thing is something for my niece. The very lovely craft and knitting place near me have some free patterns on their website and the yarn that goes with the thing I’m doing has got a sparkly thread running through it. So that’s where I’m going on Monday.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/03/2022 22:36

Evening all.

We may have had some sleety rain on my way home, but it was 95%rain and 5% sleet.

I have been on domestic blitz duties this evening. Not that you'd know it to look at the house, but hey ho. Cat-allergic friend is coming for a visit at v. short notice and I'm trying to make some headway into getting the house clean. It's not going terribly well Confused Cute kitten is currently trying to eat a bit of string, when he's not trying to attack me. I think he wants to be outside, but not in that weather.

well done on finishing the jumper Apricot, and LOL at the 'break' from knitting LetUs Grin
