Ok saw BOris Johnson last week turning christmas lights on and week before or was it two saw John Nettles filming for Midsummer Murders in Thame.

Hotel I work in we occasionally have one of the Bee Gees pop in as he lives down the road.

I've seen Cilla Black (no accent) popping into one hotel I worked at on Christmas morning as she's forgotten to order milk.

The hotel use to be near Denham so saw a lot of people like Pierce Brosnan etc whilst they were filming at Pinewood Studios.

Erin O Connor in Sainsbury's and Peep Show lady walking down the 'Bellenden' (snort) area of Peckham with cute DS dressed in little bear suit!
I think I must live in the same neighbourhood as Barry Scott...

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/12/2007 17:15

Silent Bite - you must live near me - Philip Genister lives in the next road and I often see him taking his daughter to school past our house. Trevor McDonald the news guy lives next door to us (in a bigger house )my boys were more excited when they saw 'Cedric Diggory's dad from Harry Potter' collecting his son from our school.

SheherazadetheSwedishjulbok · 14/12/2007 17:16

i always see that man who wrote the rebus books - ian rankin and he has really bad hair.

a few years ago i saw alastair darling buying his organic christmas turkey - we had just been into the shop and decided no feckin' way were we paying that for a turkey.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/12/2007 17:19

BTW - What are you supposed to say when you meet a celebrity? I mean in a situation when they are right there and with anyone one else ou would say a ploite hello, or make small talk? Ackowledge they are fanous and that you 'know' them even if they don't know you? Or pretend not to recognise them?
C'mon - we must have some famous MNers - without actually outing youselves -= please can you advise on etiquette?

CremolaFirCone · 14/12/2007 17:22

bananaknickers · 14/12/2007 17:22

I always pretend I don't know who they are. I would love to know the right thing to do though

Bocohohoho · 14/12/2007 17:24

Rick Wakeman. Buying baked beans in Somerfield wearing a large grey shellsuit.

Desiderata · 14/12/2007 17:25

I don't think there are any famous people in Somerset.

ImBarryScott · 14/12/2007 17:57

Meandmymonkey - do you live in Bellenden Village ?

The likes o'me can only dream of living in a village.....

Anna8888 · 14/12/2007 18:01

MrsGuyofGisbourne - I sat next to Helena Bonham-Carter on a bench in the Café de Flore one day. Since I was speaking English, she spoke to me. And I spoke back.

It's not so hard to talk to celebrities

aWorminaManger · 14/12/2007 18:15

... apart from Mr Blobby, Desiderata. Ever bumped into him?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 14/12/2007 18:19

Ana, that is what I was wondering - is it like the Queen - you are only supposed to speak when spoken to?

Anna8888 · 14/12/2007 18:26

Well, I don't generally launch into conversations with people I don't know as I think that that is uncool. If they speak to me, I do respond, however, since I am polite

GrinningSoul · 14/12/2007 18:33

i was with my dd in a park and she started offering pretend tea to a mum, dad and son who were in the same area. i joined in and gradually realised we were playing cafes with Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly and their son Stellan. They were very nice, tho he was a bit OTT, dad-on-show kind of thing.

I saw Nick Cotton coming out of my agents office (could've said orifice to make it more intersting, but that just would have been a lie)

He was carrying a suitcase

Monkeytrousers · 14/12/2007 19:13

and Val Kilmer stared at my tits once - I was a bit offended

AwayInAMunker · 14/12/2007 19:15

Saw Fiona Bruce the other day, walking down Wood Lane. Previously sat next to her at lunch. She seemed lovely from the convo I earwigged - concerned about a friend. Very tall and spade-like hands though.

MeAndMyMonkey · 14/12/2007 19:15

BarryScott - oh yes, the village proper! I thought we named it that for a joke but then Estate Agents started using it - for real (as we say down here!).
V posh, me ;-)
Well, posh for Peckham...
PS Anthony Gormley a resident too!
