Ran into Amy Winehouse in the loos at my favourite Islington cafe recently

Ruth Badger from last series of the Apprentice in my hotel bar in Manchester a few months back.

And Paul and Heather Mills McCartney (this is a little while ago obviously) in the duty free shop at the Paris Eurostar terminal (altho embarassingly I just thought 'gosh, that bloke looks like P McC' and mentioned it to DH who pointed out that the bloke was said Beatle!!)

arthur smith

was laughing at my dd1 in rs mccolls queue at the edinburgh festival as she danced a silly dance whilst watching herself on the cctv monitor

he said "you should put her on the television !"

i was well chuffed

Anna8888 · 14/12/2007 11:55

Ines Sastre in the Café de Flore at lunch time on Saturday.

fortunecookie · 14/12/2007 11:56

Dh saw Michael Schumacher getting a speeding ticket at a nearby motorway exit!

Anna8888 · 14/12/2007 11:57

Oh, and my mother-out-of-law was seated at the same dinner table as Cécilia Sarkozy at the Sarkozy's divorce lawyer's husband's birthday party last week... and haven't we heard a lot about it

OliviaMumsnet · 14/12/2007 12:01

Tony Robinson in my florists buying sunflowers
Paul McCartney in my offy buying a bottle of wine.

SantasSmartArse · 14/12/2007 12:10

John McCririck (I really can't spell it!) in the Ivy. Disgusting table manners and ignoring his rather plain wife.

Madonna running in Hyde Park with someone I assume to be her personal trainer.

Ulrika Johnson "running" in Hyde Park, but quite frankly I can crawl faster. She was a most peculiar orange colour.

Victor Meldrew in a newsagent in Wimbledon (he was in Panto).

Annabel Croft shopping in Wimbledon.

Annette Crosbie walking 2 yappy dogs on Wimbledon Common.

Robson Green walking down the Broadway in Wimbledon.

Andrea thingy, the weather girl on GMTV in Debenhams taking her DS to the loo (also Wimbledon - noticing a theme?!). Only clean loos in Wimbledon, I think.

Sat opposite Philip Glenister and Keeley Hawes on the tube last summer. She was quite loud and showy-offy, but also rather tall, thin and gorgeous and wearing a lovely shirt/dress thing. I went straight out and bought something similar, but being a curvy 5-footer, the effect really isn't the same!

Judith Chalmers in Marylebone looking less tanned than she does on TV.

Chris Evans in Marylebone - surprisingly tall and looks rather older in RL than I expected him to.

Must be loads more, being a Londoner, but I can't remember back much further than six months!

lazawreath · 14/12/2007 12:39

oh, a couple more i forgot. Brett Anderson looking very skinny in a suit in a bar in brighton with a stunning woman.

Went into bella pasta in chester and paul burrell was sat at the next table with his sons. He was wearing an earring.

kittylouise · 14/12/2007 12:50

I have never met anyone famous - never. The only thing that comes close is that I bumped into the actor who played Jack in the House of Eliott at Gatwick airport when I was 14 (does this win the crappiest celeb spotter prize?)

I put it down to growing up in the wilds of Devon. DD saw Lily Allen in Cheltenham High Street a couple of weeks ago, she was so chuffed.

PestohohohoMonster · 14/12/2007 13:00

The day after her GMTV performance interview, I saw Heather Mills McCartney queuing to pay in H & M.
A couple of years ago I saw both her and Paul McCartney with their daughter and dog whilst we were out rollerblading by the seafront.

A couple of weeks ago I saw Kim or was it Aggie (the one with glasses) in town.
In the summer, Patsy Palmer chatted to me in the pool at our gym.

suzywong · 14/12/2007 13:02

I've seen NO famous fecker lately, in the last 3.5 years to be precise

It certainly isn't like Crouch End over here. Couldn't MOVE for tripping over someone from The Bill or Kerrang's Top 10 Bands of 200_.

Tut.

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 14/12/2007 13:13

I am that I have avidly read this whole thread and got quite excited at the mention of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Barrowman - 2 of my favourite men.

Sadly, I haven't seen anyone famous since 1994 when Hugh Grant was on the same flight as dh and I when we were coming back from our honeymoon (and I only spotted him when he was waiting at the luggage carousel).

kerala · 14/12/2007 13:18

David Baddiel IN MY ROAD putting money in the parking meter looking distracted and disheviled (sp)

Moses and Apple (Gwynnie and Chris Martins children) go to the same playgroup as dd but sadly are always with the nanny. Fantasise about palling up with Gwynnie, being invited round for dinner etc etc dream on! And anyway the food would be fat, sugar, meat free I suppose so not much fun

suzywong · 14/12/2007 13:19

do you live in Primrose Hill, Kerala?

kerala · 14/12/2007 13:27

Suzywong - I live in the slightly scruffier bit next to Primrose hill. Gwynnie's house to the left, socially deprived council estates to the right dont you just love London!

Are you round here too?

suzywong · 14/12/2007 13:30

Adelaide Road way?

I used to live in Chalk Farm and Highgate

ahhhh, those were the days

aDadTidingsWeBring · 14/12/2007 13:35

Amy winehouse at arctic monkeys gig. She is sooo tiny.

5GoldenFIMBOs · 14/12/2007 13:35

Trisha Goddard frequents my local Waitrose, she tries hard to disguise herself with a baseball cap pulled down over her eyes

BellaDonna79 · 14/12/2007 15:06

Oooo I got hugged by Jesse Metcalfe (hot gardener from desperate housewives) at the clothes show on Sunday as he walked down the side of the catwalk thingy, I was on the front row and he was shaking hands/hugging randomers and I got lucky
And in 1999 I was sat next to Ross from Friends (david schwimmer) on a flight from Heathrow to LAX! Best part was that people were loking at ME as everyone left the terminal because I was being 'escorted' by my 6ft8 300lb uncle in his suit and sunnies and his equally bodyguardish friend to the company limo!!!! (at 19 this was officially the coolest thing EVER) I guess because I was young, blonde and dolled up to the nines people thought I must have been some c-list celeb. (Ok they were thinking look at that prat but don't ruin it for me!!!)

catsmother · 14/12/2007 15:29

I live in a boring old backwater too but when venturing into London saw Gilbert & George going into their own house in Spitalfields (which, if you google, they're not that precious about anyway, so it's pretty much an open secret where they live) but was stupidly and disproportionately excited about that.

Have only ever seen other slebs when a) I've paid for it or b) at Gardeners' World & Good Food Live (Monty Don, Joe Swift, Alan Titchmarsh, John Torode, Gordon Ramsay (that was the best though ), Anthea Turner, Jimmy from Jimmy's Farm) which doesn't really have the same ring to it as bumping into them in Primrose Hill or elsewhere "trendy" does it ?

awayinNaeManger · 14/12/2007 15:42

i saw Duncan Bannatyne last time i was in London (actually the ONLY time i've been in london...)
he was tlaking on his mobile outside...Bannatynes.
