Morning wenches.

Good luck with plastering Helen. Hope it goes smoothly

Only a matter of time and KillerKitten will be up there.

Monday, dark, gloomy, blaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2022 09:40

Morning all. Operation plasterer is go!

ApricotCrush · 17/01/2022 16:52

Afternoon. I think we have a pretty sunset here, but unfortunately I can't see the sun behind the houses.

Well done with the hat LetUs. I haven't done any knitting for a couple of days as I'm still sorting out the computer. My new iPad has also arrived today. Hurrah! But I've got to set that up now. Hmm

Hope the plastering has gone well Helen. Lol at smoothly. Grin

Evening wenches. I think it wasn’t quite as dark when I was walking to the car at home time.

Ooooo at new iPad Apricot!

Has the plastering been finished today Helen, it is it a longer job?

I want to go and watch the new Macbeth film at the cinema and have been trying to persuade DS2 to come along as they’re doing that in English. That’s a big no.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/01/2022 20:30

Evening all. Plastering didn't go as smoothly as hoped, but the first ceiling is done (more prep work was needed then expected). More tidying has been done ready for tomorrow. (And the rest of the week. Basically, most rooms in the house need remedial plastering thanks to the previous DIY/self-build owners. It's only taken us lots-of-years to get round to it.)

Work has been a bit tedious again with one project still MIA

Sunset was very orange here, and it's going to be a cold one again tonight.

DS is doing Romeo and Juliet. They've seen the new lockdown version, and DS actually asked to see the de Caprio/Danes version (which has her off Homeland, but not Faf Zaf. Inconsiderate casting.) I tried to watch the National Theatre Live 'Macbeth' with Christopher Eccleston, but just couldn't get into it.

FancyFancy · 17/01/2022 23:02

Evening
Speaking about Romeo & Juliet, have been to see the new West Side Story. Enjoyed it a lot, even though I don't like Romeo & Juliet much & found Tony a bit charisma-less. Some great dance routines.

Good luck setting up the new iPod apricot

How often do you get a chance to see the Northern Lights near you ww

Glad to hear the swans are safe from him helen Grin

It was light 30 minutes later than on the shortest day this afternoon letus and with the clear skies it was really noticeable Smile

LetUsPrey · 18/01/2022 07:41

Morning wenches.

Thank you for the getting lighter update Fancy, good to know it wasn’t my over hopeful imagination (because let’s face it, it doesn’t work on anything else). BestFriend and I might be seeing that film.

Good luck with the rest of the plastering Helen. I remember getting that version of R+J on video back in the day. There’s a Kenneth Branagh version of Macbeth from a few years ago I saw on one of those live things at the cinema. It was excellent.

Dark and frosty here. Need to chivvy DS2 along.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2022 08:37

Morning all. It's all very 'In the Bleak Midwinter' here today. Misty morning, heavy frost, frozen water and 'earth hard as iron' (slight exaggeration, but still, the mud is solid underfoot.) Golden-ish sunrise.

Plastering round 2 is on the go today, so I've been doing a last-minute blitz of DS bedroom and the bathroom. I'm now collapsed on the sofa and about to be a cat bed. DH can deal with the rest for now. I would be tempted to go back to bed, but I can't because it's buried under debris from DS' room.

ApricotCrush · 18/01/2022 17:38

Evening. Nice day. I went a walk round the road but it was very cold.

I don't like the photos section of the new iPad. Why can't they leave stuff alone? Angry

Hope the plastering has gone well Helen.

Evening wenches.

LittleSis has had plasterers round recently. They had to sack the first one because he was rubbish (and he’d been a recommendation) and the second lot have been a bazillion times better thankfully. I’m sure yours is in the latter category Helen.

It’s like when they move everything round in the supermarket Apricot. Stop doing it!

I’m tired and cold and I’m wondering if it’s too early to go to bed.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 18/01/2022 20:38

It’s very rare Fancy, I’ve never seen it until now. So glad I got the chance Smile

FancyFancy · 18/01/2022 21:41

Wow that is great that you saw it ww

Worky McWork. Did chance upon some netball as I was eating dinner which was a fab bonus. Am currently being a cat bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/01/2022 22:02

Evening all. The plasterer is mostly fabulous, but he did make a bit of a mess today We have two more days of carnage, and then of course there will be the painting to do.

This evening, CuteKitten has worn himself out killing football players, the referee and the actual football Grin

It's never to early for bed LetUs - whether or not HBFs (or cats) are involved.

Apricot - IKR. Most of the time it's really hard to see the point of a lot of upgrades

I hope you've stopped working by now Fancy - the HBFs say it's play time (or you'll be a very dull girl) Wink

LetUsPrey · 19/01/2022 07:39

Morning wenches.

Dark and rainy. I’m not a fan, although it does mean I won’t have to scrape the ice off the car.

Caught some of the netball too Fancy which was very exciting.

Am liking CuteKitten even more. Plastering and then painting soon be done Helen and then it’s allllllll over. (Clearly a lie but you can believe it for a little bit).

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/01/2022 08:30

Morning all. It's nippy outside, rather than baltic. Our thermostat has decided to have a hissy fit so the house is also a bit on the nippy side. Ho hey hum.

Livestock is fed, plasterer is installed, room is cleared, and I forgot to get a piece of wood from the shed. arse.

Have a good day all!

ApricotCrush · 19/01/2022 16:52

Afternoon. We've had a bit of everything today weather-wise, but it's still just light so that's good.

I've spent the day trying to back up my 33,000 photos and files on DVDs. I already have them on an an external hard drive but I worry that if that stops working I'm in trouble. Anyway, the PC's burner wouldn't work. It seems that Norton have put their own back-up on my PC and it's affected the burn driver, or something. I've sorted it now, but why is everything so difficult? Angry

Love CuteKitten killing the footballers. Grin

Evening wenches.

Rain, sunshine, warming up, then quite chilly.

You need to wrap yourself in HBFs Helen.

Pleased you got it sorted eventually Apricot. I know people —at work— who make doing a job much more difficult than it needs to be.

DS2 just having a tantrum because much homework/revision needed doing today and, despite being home since 3pm, he’s barely done any. I’d say I was at the end of my tether about it all, it the tether is but a dim and distant memory.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/01/2022 21:43

Evening all. Our bedroom is plastered - hurrah!!! Now it just needs to dry Actually, that's not very fair of me, the weather has been fine - just cold, and misty in the mornings. Tomorrwo we move on to the kitchen. The kitchen is not ready to be plastered yet, so I'm sitting hereon the sofa instead of clearing the surfaces. At about 10:30 pm I'll be overcome with a burst of panic and try to get it cleared. I will be up until midnight and then collapse into bed for 6 hours sleep. DH has gone out. (This is all an exaggeration. DH hasn't left me to dooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttt all. We're pretty much there and he's fully planning to move things around the kitchen as necessary while different bits are plastered tomorrow. But dramatic license and all...)

In other news - not much really.

for LetUs re. bloody children and their lack of doing what needs to be done. Also, Aramis says that you don't need the tether, because he has chains...

at Apricot's ongoing computer annoyances. One day I'll regale you with the story of trying to set up a mobile phone for use at boringOfficeJob - that is also ongoing, frustrating beyond belief and liable to make me thrown said phone out of a window.

Swagger Inn 170. Autumn is here with a vengeance. I think we'll just hide under the duvet --with HBFs-- until Spring.
LetUsPrey · 20/01/2022 07:48

Morning wenches.

At this point I’d use the chains to fasten DS2 to a chair rather than for wenchy purposes.

Totally with you on the I’ve got allllll this stuff to do and yes someone else is doing it too but that’s not really the point let me be dramatic.

Frosty again this morning.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2022 08:47

Morning all. No frost here, just back to being wet. Though the cloud is broken enough to give me some nice silvery/gold lined clouds for sunrise.

Plastering is, yet again, under way. This time downstairs, which makes being upstairs a bit noisy while scraping is going on.

Cute Kitten, in his quest to chew cardboard boxes to bits, has scattered chunks of cardboard around the kitchen floor. Last night, while I was tidying, he decided to 'help' by bombing around the floor, pouncing on the cardboard - because he could. Stupid and Cute. Grin

ApricotCrush · 20/01/2022 17:05

Afternoon. Very heavy frost first thing but it's been a sunny day.

I've finished the backing up and have been getting on with the knitting.

DD may or may not have Covid. Shock A lateral flow on Monday was positive with a very fine line. Work said get a PCR although she didn't have any symptoms. PCR was negative. Another lateral flow on Wednesday was positive. Work said do another PCR. She'll get one tomorrow. Confused In the meantime DH is doing the school run, walking DGS there and back.

for LetUs. They do try our patience.

Awww at CuteKitten 'helping' with the tidying. Hope the plastering is going well.

LetUsPrey · 20/01/2022 19:38

Evening wenches.

Oh no for DD Apricot! Hope it gets sorted for her quickly. Hurrah for knitting!

Have had a crappy day at work so not feeling up to my knitting tonight. DS2 has done very well with his homework this afternoon/tonight thankfully.

Awwww at CuteKitten helping Smile

I am heading for bath’n’book soon.

FancyFancy · 20/01/2022 20:49

Have some Wine to go with that *Letus"

Am being a cat bed and watching Homeland. No faf, but it is peak Homeland - Quinn the human cockroach won't die, Dar is scheming, Saul is salty at Dar and Carrie is all 👀

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/01/2022 21:38

Evening all. We've had rain and hail. Brrr. Plastering is all done until next week, when we have some more. In the meantime I have been mopping and wiping floors/cupboards/windows which have plaster splatters on them, and we wait for it to dry and then try to get it primed and painted without accidentally decorating carpets and furniture at the same time. Hmm

DS has just stropped off to bed because we told him to tidy up everything he'd scattered over the floor before we went to bed. He's probably going to call Childline, such is our unreasonable and cruel behaviour Hmm.

Fingers crossed for DD Apricot

Wine for all wenches, just because.

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2022 07:40

Morning wenches.

Thanks for the Wine Fancy. It went very well with bath’n’book.

OMG Helen stop being so cruel to that poor child! Good luck with ongoing plastering and decorating.

Seems dry here and not frozen and it’s Friday so hurrah for that.
