I just want to comment on one point on this thread. Secur (I think it was) said "be careful, especially in america (not sure if all states) they take a far harder view on speeding than they do here, it is really considered the lowest trick, performed only by scum!"
I haven't found that to be the case, in fact everyone speeds here. (Maybe less so now since they raised the speed limit from 55mph a few years ago.) If you're driving too fast down a residential street where children are playing, then yes, you would be looked upon as scum. But on highways and major roads, not at all. We don't have speed cameras, if you get caught for speeding you will be pulled over by a cop. So people slow down if there are any police cars around, but otherwise a lot of people drive pretty fast. And the accepted wisdom is that you won't get pulled over for driving only about 5mph over the limit, or if you're over the limit but keeping up with the flow of the traffic (assuming everyone's not going at 100mph of course).
I was actually surprised to be told by family when I was over in England this year about how careful you have to be especially with speed cameras, and just because the cars in front of you are going 80mph, doesn't mean that you won't get a ticket for going 75mph.
If I got a ticket though, that I believed was justified, I would pay the fine without argument.
