I can honestly say I've never speeded this much.

Ronniebaby · 04/11/2004 13:09

I am a moderator for the other subjects and as this thread is getting a bit heated, it can be removed, simple.

I dont want it to happen I love debates, and I agree with you Hercules we all have our own opinions, but there is no need to get nasty about it.

No offence intended but I do feel the moral stance that has been taken is very harsh, however I also feel this was perhaps a foolish post in the first place in that there are consequences in life we all have to live up to. xx

Ronniebaby · 04/11/2004 13:11

Sorry that wasnt aimed at Hercules the nasty bit.

hercules · 04/11/2004 13:12

nasty? where?

Anteater · 04/11/2004 13:13

The points totting up system was introduced before cameras, quite obviously cameras means the numbers being caught are now huge, and at £60 a thro this represents a huge amount of dosh.
A fair bit of flack for male drivers here as well (of which Im one..), when you go out for a spin with your dp/dh, who drives???
Guilty as charged but if I lose my licence two convictions down the road whos going to run my business's??
I dont feel bad about doing 62 on a duel carrigeway thats fed from a motorway. sorry!!
Plus some of the most dangerous driving I see is at very low speed, in reverse (by women)

MKM - Aneater like the rest of us had a question she wanted answering, it's not wrong to ask the question, yes I agree it is wrong to dodge the fine, but people do it.

I'm sure we've all asked questions we think are silly etc, and maybe regretted after, but if you want answers where is the best place to ask it.

HERE

hercules · 04/11/2004 13:13

Debates get heated. Surely that's not a bad thing. I understand removing it if it is nasty but I honestly cant see anything nasty.

agy · 04/11/2004 13:15

So, whats wrong with heated threads all of a sudden?!

Ronniebaby · 04/11/2004 13:15

Oops soz AE - she/he.

I know the feeling owning my own business, I wouldnt be able to work if I lost my licence, but as was pointed out, do the crime pay the fine.

You'll just have to remember not to speed in future

Anteater. I try really hard not to stereotype men or women. Please dont do this.
If we go for a "spin" whoever gets to the drivers seat first drives.
I am offended about your comments about women drivers.

hercules · 04/11/2004 13:17

I dont see how needing your car for your business is relevant. THe rules about speeding are for everyone.

mykidsmum · 04/11/2004 13:17

Yes but is it wrong to ask how to get the better of the law?? Obviously this is what people have concerns about, which has led to the emotive postings. If there were websites that were set up to get you out of all manner of legal situations i'm sure they would be shut down. Not trying to create conflict, I just feel that maybe it wasn't an appropriate post considering it is a legal matter where the poster admitted fault, sorry!

jampot · 04/11/2004 13:17

Anteater asked a question which I think has been answered.

I personally dont agree with drink driving but my friend who's dh is a traffic cop has been known to "escort" her home in their car when half cut! Now imho that is worse.

I also understand about the comments re: placing of cameras and hasn't there been a lot in the news over the last year or so about the revenue created from speed cameras?

Ronniebaby · 04/11/2004 13:20

MKM - I agree, but if you dont ask you dont get or find out.

KangaMummy · 04/11/2004 13:21

anteater

I always drive my DH as I don't drink it means he can and so I can always drive friends home after party etc. I enjoy driving.

I drive 95% of the time - dh automatically gets in teh passenger seat (where he tries to drive from )
