That's one of the reasons I switched supplier last time IIRC. And I'm so happy with who I'm with now I'm not switching even when other companies promise me a cheaper rate!

pastabest · 30/08/2020 19:55

@Butterer

Sorry, that was in response to *@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander - not @pastabest* !

I'm assuming the emergency credit ran out between 8am and 8pm to not qualify for the friendly credit.

That's weekdays, friendly credit applies all day on a weekend and on bank holidays (although it's not a bank holiday for OP tomorrow, bulb probably thinks it is).

From the bulb website:

Running out on weekends or bank holidays

To help make sure your home doesn’t run out of gas or electricity during an inconvenient time, your meters also offer ‘Friendly Credit’.

This means your meters won’t switch off if you run out of credit on the weekend or a bank holiday.

You’ll have to pay back any Friendly Credit you use during this time.

Oh come for goodness sake. You might not know your neighbours but you can knock and ask for a light for the candle!

Nobody should be cut off like this it's disgusting. So no lights, no way to charge phone, no TV, no fridge no freezer, not good with little kids. Do they really do this to people?

@Butterer

You can't speak to anyone on that number tonight; the only options given to be transferred to today are for actual emergencies, not running out of emergency credit. And OP's payment is due Tuesday anyway, so the BH isn't relevant to that part.

Did you try seeing if there's a contact number for the church/vicar, OP?

hope you can get it sorted asap.

Ah I see, I thought OP was saying that the BH delayed her payment. Although, there not being a BH in Scotland tomorrow is still positive as OP can call the benefits service to ask about an emergency payment.
Shinygoldbauble · 30/08/2020 20:09

Are you sure you've run out of credit and that something faulty hasn't tripped a switch in your fuse panel?

With children that age you will be fine with no electricity for a day and a half in August. You seriously need to stay calm and think outside the box. Is your cooker gas or electric? Do you have enough tinned fruit, bread/cereal and milk to feed them so they have full tummies? If so you need to get a grip. It's not February and icy. And yes, I have been there.

pineappletop · 30/08/2020 20:27

Do you have a car OP?
Even if I didn't know my neighbours and had just moved to the area I'd be knocking if I had kids even if it was for use of a kettle for some hot water....
not too sure what you're expecting tbh

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 20:39

ill hopefully get it sorted tomorrow! thanks for all the good advise to the people who gave good advise. bye

You can ring your local church.

Google the number.

There will be church of Scotland, Presbyterian, Catholic and possibly Baptist or Methodist. As well as Unitarian.

They will definitely help.
