On a Sunday, Butterer?

Yep, they close at 4.

I appreciate that not everyone lives near/can get to an open one though.[/quote]
I hadn't realised that.

It might be a viable option then for the OP.

Mind you, I still think she should send a text to a few friends. One of them must have a couple of quid.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/08/2020 14:57

Although their website says they will get back to you within 4 hours on weekend and bank holidays. So maybe you just need to wait a bit longer

Shops shut at 4. Round up something to sell. DVDs or games, phones etc for cex or cash converters.

Try the bulb emergency thing first or the salvation army or ring the food bank and ask for advice.

Lipz · 30/08/2020 14:59

Can you ask the kids dad for a lend? Have you parents or siblings? I'm sure one would help

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 15:00

i have tried my bank but they won’t give overdraft, i stay in very small town with nothing here and what is isn’t open on sundays, just convienience shops, nearest city is hours drive away, i’m just out a abusive relationship so don’t have many friends anymore, just me and kids, i feel like i’ve let them down

It’s honestly not that cold. You’ll be warm enough. Camping on the sofa with duvets and candles

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 15:01

Also. Put your phone on battery saver mode and turn off everything you don’t need on it

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 15:03

It’s basically not that long. I’ve had to do it in the past (also abusive relationship). You hunker down and get through it somehow.

Chap a neighbour and ask them for the lend of a fiver.

Do picnics with bread and jam and fruit bits for you and the kids.

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 15:07

Keep the freezer and fridge shut as much as you can. The freezer will be fine til Tuesday first thing.

Frequency · 30/08/2020 15:10

Contact your local children's hub/social services team. They'll have an emergency line. I've had to use them once before. There's no judgement and social services won't open a case against you. They can arrange a credit for your meter and provide budgeting support.

gamerchick · 30/08/2020 15:15

I've always found SS helpful in the past when going through rough times.

You obviously need some support IRL.

MondeoFan · 30/08/2020 15:16

Let us know if you manage to sort it

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/08/2020 15:18

@Frequency what a fab idea. I had no idea they could (would) help in emergency.

OP - it’s been more than 5 years since I left my abusive relationship and the first six months were really rough. The kids don’t remember the bare floors and shit dinners. You’re not letting them down - you’re paving the future for them.

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 15:19

thanks everyone i’ll just have to get on with it, ive only just got rid of as after a very hard time, they twist everything and turn it into a negative, i had asked for help in past and had a carry on with them, ill never do that again, thanks everyone, i’ll just have to get on with it, thanks for your time

@gamerchick I was surprised by how helpful they were. I ssd isn't even contact them. I contacted a budgeting team at CAB who put me on to them. They were amazing. They topped up both my meters even though I was currently in credit (admittedly not by much) and arranged a food parcel and help with college fees. I only wanted advice on my benefits being stopped in error.

SS gets a bad rap which puts people off contacting them. It's a shame because they offer such a wide range of really helpful services.

I did as well. They were amazing when I was struggling with my middle son. He was like a Tasmanian devil. Had me demented he did as a toddler. They get a bad rap but they can help.

Right you don't have 'many' friends means you do indeed have some friends.

Just send them a text.

Even a fiver will sort you out until Tuesday.

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 15:42

Have you rung the Sally Ann?

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 16:54

ill try them nearest one 25 miles away

There must be a church of some description

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2020 17:03

I would suggest asking your Facebook friends if someone can spare a fiver until Tuesday.

But you won't have a Facebook account.
