Most churches won’t be open because of covid.

Op you’re better off contacting a food bank.

mumofthreewhatsfortea · 30/08/2020 17:55

How much do you need for electric ?

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 18:06

only need £10 to get electric on

churches are closed as you said

Churches themselves are closed but the vicar/priest usually lives nearby

HistoriaTrixie · 30/08/2020 18:10

If it's anything like our church, there'll be a sign on the door to the rectory/vicarage saying what to do if you are in need. Ours has a number to call that's answered from 8am-9pm seven days a week.

NannyR · 30/08/2020 18:10

If you look on the church website or the board outside it will have a contact number for the vicar, the vicars I know have their "work" mobiles on 24/7. Also, you could check if they have a Facebook page and message them through that

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 18:17

ill have a look on website, as kids will be needing their beds soon, i’m just in a very small town not much here of any kind, scotland, highlands

In our area there are Facebook kindness groups covering most of the villages. Have a look through Facebook OP: if you are miles from a big town there is likely to be a parish or village group picking up the slack.
Would you be willing to share your approximate area? There may be someone here on MN who can put you in touch with real local help.

Lipz · 30/08/2020 18:23

Did you get sorted? How do you buy credit? Is it in a shop? Most debit cards are not processed immediately for low amounts.

Have you an aunt, uncle, cousin, brother, sister, niece, nephew, parents, there must be one person in your life you can ask?

mumofthreewhatsfortea · 30/08/2020 18:24

You could make a game out of it with the kids for tonight , light candles , get torches out tell campfire stories! Have a sleepover in your front room . Make fun out of it , make hot chocolate ! Till the morning when you will have all day to find a solution :)

A bit difficult to make hot chocolate if the electric is off.

Does that mean it's not actually bank holiday Monday for you tomorrow OP?
ilovesooty · 30/08/2020 18:35

It's not bank holiday tomorrow in Scotland. The OP can sort it out then.

diamondsky120280 · 30/08/2020 18:36

yeah i’ve tried that emergency number but not there, ive said this earlier, i don’t actually know if bank holiday here tomorrow or not, think just england

Have you joined Next Door? Sometimes you'll find friendly faces on there who might be able to help.

DolphinsAndNemesis · 30/08/2020 18:40

If it's not a bank holiday for you tomorrow, that's great. You won't have long to wait until the morning and then you can get things sorted.

BlueSlice · 30/08/2020 18:40

@mumofthreewhatsfortea I do like your thinking but this is assuming the OP already has candles and torches ready as well as the fact she’s probably feeling awful at the moment and not in a great headspace to make it a magical evening (not to mention the fact she can’t make hot chocolates).

Lipz · 30/08/2020 18:42

Oh that's good news then about not been a bank holiday tomorrow where you are. Have an early night and first thing tomorrow you can get it sorted. Always a silver lining.
