Fancy appears to be having a very rewarding experience

That’s a good way of looking at it Helen Grin

ApricotCrush · 09/08/2020 18:24

Evening. Bit cloudy earlier but it brightened up this afternoon.

The mumbling on tv drives me mad, I can't hear any of it. I have to have the subtitles on which is annoying as you miss the action.

Strange you should mention flies. DH bought a venus flytrap plant when he was at the garden centre the other day. It's not as big as I thought they were, but perhaps it's a baby. It hasn't had any success yet, but we're keeping an eye on it.

Glad you had a good time Helen and yay for FancyMan's gig and NotSoMiniLetus being laid back about his results.

How's the rash today WW?

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/08/2020 18:26

Evening. Hot as hell here.

It just popped up everywhere at the same time Fancy.
Showed the pics to a friend of mine that's a nurse and she suggested I'd try cortisone so I went to a nearby pharmacy but they almost shooed me away and said that it would be better if I saw a nurse first which they had on the premises but I had to sign in online and it didn't work and it was so fucking hot and I was sweating so I left. Ordered some cortisone online instead. But think I will call the GP tomorrow and hear what they have to say.

Never thought about a Venus flytrap! Be good to see if they work.

That was a pain about the online thing not working Wicked. 🤞🏻for it getting better quickly.

Just brought the washing in. So nice to hear the neighbours having a lovely barbecue in their garden with their friends round. Makes me feel good that BestFriend and I didn’t go and sit in her garden for drinks and instead went to sit in a busy beer garden instead with twatty drunks. And breathe.

I am now pretending I’m on a boat, beautiful weather, blue sea, there’s also food and drink. And look, I’m not alone Grin

I hope the cortisone works for you ww, it's a nightmare having itchy skin in this heat.

I used to have a venus fly trap. Not sure if it caught many, but was interesting to have. I'm even lazier - by leaving those spindly spiders alone in the house I'm hoping they'll deal with flying pests for me. Last year one hatched babies in my bathroom Grin, I grew quite fond of it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2020 21:57

That's very pleasant scenery LetUs. FFS at your twattish neighbours Angry

One of my friends swears by a pheromone fly trap - I'm not sure if it works for ants though. We have regular baby spider hatchings here - most of them eat each other (or justdie - I'm not sure which) But there are too many spindly spiders to be bothered about here. It's just the big hairy ones which can FRO.

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2020 22:01

I’ve learned to cope with the spindly ones as long as they stay high up. Fortunately all the ones in my house either do not have sex or use excellent contraception so there are no consequences.

I shall look into that fly trap Helen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2020 23:05

It's gone 11pm. Why am I still up?

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2020 23:13

Athos asked the same thing Helen. Grin I’ve referred him to you.

I’m waiting for the bathroom to be free and then it’s hayloft for me too.

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2020 08:23

Morning wenches.

Another warm day. DS1 has gone to work with DH. DS2 is already on football manager.

How can washing up keep appearing? It was all done yesterday and now it looks like there’s a week’s worth of dishes.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2020 10:08

Morning. I forgot to get the washing in last night so it's stayed out. Think it's dry again now, so I should really get it in (and put another load out)

I have no work. This means I have no excuse not to do the tedious domestic chores. Arse.

FancyFancy · 10/08/2020 14:36

Stinking hot here, still, car got through the MOT ok this morning, so that's good.

In this weather I often have the washing out overnight helen - put a wash on in the evening, peg it out & it's dry by the time I get up the next morning. That way I feel I've accomplished something by breakfast

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2020 14:48

Was going to do the exercisething but then realised that bloody parcel should be delivered today. Tried phoning for update but no luck. Tracking said “on the road”. It arrived after 12 by which time too hot for running. But at least it’s arrived.

Dishes done. Washing done. Ironing can wait for one of the thunderstorm days this week.

Hurrah for MOT and for being super efficient before breakfast!

Watched a programme about Greece. He said Mount Athos and my brain heard wenches shouting “yes please!”

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2020 16:32

Grin - 'Mount Athos' - the gift that keeps on giving

Poop to lack of exercise, but at least the parcel arrived. I think I'll be skipping the bike ride today due to providing taxi services - but it's too hot for that exercise nonsense today anyway. (No sign of any thunder here either, so we shall carry on roasting.)

I have an MOT next week - or my car does anyway. Fingers crossed it will pass fine - it's still on a service plan from the garage, so it bloody should.

How is Wicked today?

ApricotCrush · 10/08/2020 17:32

Afternoon. We're supposed to be having thunderstorms but apart from one clap earlier nothing has arrived yet. It's very humid though.

I leave the spindly spiders as they eat the house spiders. Unfortunately DH doesn't like to see webs and kills them. I have been known to shoo them out of sight to save them. Grin

Well done Fancy's car.

FancyFancy · 10/08/2020 18:38

That's another good reason for leaving the spindly ones apricot, plus they don't move much. The big brown ones that scuttle around the floor can FRO though. Luckily the cats go after those.

aniagw
Make it stop, pleeeeeease.

I have a conference call at 9am tomorrow morning. Have arranged to work at home to avoid the stress of unpredictable roadworks caused by massiveunpopularinfrastructureproject but in this heat the air con in the office is looking more attractive than an unnecessarily early start.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/08/2020 19:07

Rash update: Called the GP:s office and spoke with a nurse and she said hives/nettle rash or what you call them, is very common and one doesn't always know why one gets them. So I'm going to eat Desloratadin for two weeks and if it's not getting better I will call them again. I wonder if it might be hormonal cause the blob has been acting really weird lately.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/08/2020 19:10

What kind of temperatures do you have?

I've been doing the laundry today so feel quite good about that. Did an extra rinse just in case because of the rash.

Star for FancyCar.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 10/08/2020 19:44

Good that you’ve spoken with the nurse Wicked.

We’ve probably got temperatures around 23 at the moment but it’s a bit stuffy here too, but not stifling like other areas . We’ve got thunderstorms forecast all night from about 10 and then on and off for nearly all week.

That’s a bit of a choice between traffic but then AC all day and home Fancy. What’s it meant to be like weather wise for you tomorrow?

ApricotCrush · 10/08/2020 20:19

Glad you called the GP WW.

It's 24 here and looking very black over Bill's mother's as we say around here. Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2020 20:33

Evening. Ah - yes Wicked - hives. (Nettle Rash is what you get from stinging nettles and looks nothing like that unless you've been crushing armfuls of them against your bare skin Confused )

It's been baking here - I'd say mid to high 20s. But we did do a bike ride this evening because DH suggested it and the temperature had dropped enough. I also did some tediously domestic stuff including going through DS' trousers etc to pass on the ones that he's grown out of. Hurrah.

What a fab saying Apricot!

We’ve still no storm here and it feels warmer than it did this afternoon.

I read that as you’d been baking Helen and I was about to pinch some cake. Then I learned how to read properly. Well done on the bike ride.

Lovely decorating Also, that reminds me that the Don Quixote film with AD in it is on at the moment. I shall download before I forget.

FancyFancy · 10/08/2020 23:59

The Met Office said it was 32 degrees here and will reach that tomorrow and Wednesday. Apparently it's still 24 degrees outside the wind has dropped this evening too so it feels horrible.
