Ah! I didn't know the H version existed in Italy. Is it pronounced the same way as the non H version?

Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:15

Mine does, both her names are Italian. We were supposed to have one of each but I couldn't get an English name past DP. He veered from wanting really common names taht everyone has (read Giulia) to horrible names he found on a website (eg. Ada Drusilla). DD actual names are an exercise in damage limitation.

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:15

it does not exist. I think they just liked it. it is pronounced the same except by your best friend who since elementari insists in calling you **ACCA!!!! lovely!

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:17

samanta? like vita da strega?

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:18

I get it now!!! (dumb emoticon)

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:18

I wanted to call DD tabitha like samantha's daughter. DH forbid it!

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:21

sughi mutti are great. I usually buy the passata.
there's not much variety in my supermarkets here. not much fish or vegetables or even meat. thank goodness for the farmers market. they are very good with the "world food" aisle, I agree.
You know what I'll really miss ? the television. channel 4, (more 4, filmfour, E4 etc) bbc3 and bbc4.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:21

My DP liked Tabitha, but I forbade it. It's a very cat name to me.

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:23

mine have italian names, but both me and dh are italian. ds has one name, dd has 2. her second name is infact rosa like my nonna. I noticed that English give 3 names.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:25

Yes, it's the world food I miss. And the potatoes. The vegetables are better here I agree, more stuff di stagione.

I miss the TV, especially the English detective programmes. I got really exited a couple of months ago becasue they had Prime Suspect on Rai 3. Unfortunately they chose to show the final episode only. Yet there is Texas F*ing Ranger on every night! I don't understand how anyone can have such bad taste.

Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:27

I have 3 names, it's very middle class English. DP also has 3 names, strangely enough. His family were once rich and very borghese, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:28

lol at texas rangers. but it's on rete 4 isn't it? who the hell watches rete 4, apart from the fans of sentieri??

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:30

possibly, as mil and her sister, who come from a very borghese family have a million names. actually very good old fahioned ones.
but you can come to see me in Milan and we can go to via paolo sarpi to buy world food.

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 21:30

I will think of some ricette campane.
I am really shocked at your names!

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:31

lol at sentieri!!!

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:32

why? what's wrong with our names?

are you disappointed because I am no called selvaggia?

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:32

which ones, selvaggia?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 21:32

lol pippi

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 21:33

I like names that for me are italian posh like Ludovico, Zaccaria, Gianmaria, etc but they wouldn't make sense here. Most of ds' schoolmates are called Chantelle and Desiree.

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 21:35

I always imagined Franca as a Franca, big glasses, dyed hair, very tall, a bit intellectual/bohemian. The one with esca is instead tall and slim with very long and delicate hair, without a hideous hat.
Selvaggia is great! Imagine being called that, perfect with your ugg boots!

Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:35

Or fans of Emilio Fede. Ugh, he's such a creep.

I love Paolo Sarpi, we used to go quite often (when I used to cook) and stock up on weird vegetables and sauces and DP used to buy smelly snacks of dried fish or meat. Now that we live off sughi pronti we don't bother quite so much.

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:36

is zaccaria posh? all it reminds me is monday aft spect at catechismo...

i'm trying to think about a possible italian second name for DC no 2 and I can't think of anything.

Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:37

What are you called Hot?

Does it begin with a P?

Brangelina · 03/10/2007 21:37

Pippi do you know the flavour already?

Does your DD have an Italian name?

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 21:38

I think spect meant spesi... but not sure.

selvaggia would go with my highbrows and hairstyle ATM TBH!!!
