Everyone's welcome

Back to Uggs I have had the short ones like mini boots and then ones that look more like slippers sort of have roll over tops - I would opt for the mini boots every time far warmer. But never worn them out apart from in the garden !!

francagoestohollywood · 02/10/2007 18:00

I feel I'm still indecisa between:
black leather uggs with round punta
smartish men's brogues
another pair of ballerinas (more wintery maybe)
and i must admit I'm attracted to medium uggs (quello che arriva a meta' polpaccio) in chocolate...
If I wore heels, which I don't I'd like those lace ups with heel, stile signorina rottermeier sexy.

I want to buy some brogues, brown ones, i saw them in the Guardian the other day. Fantastic looking.
And some ugg type slippers as my feet are freezing already.
Franca i am not around on the 18th! When are you coming?

francagoestohollywood · 02/10/2007 20:54

Yes, they are the ones I have my eyes on, the brown ones . I think they are topshop. Today went to our new shopping centre, but no brown brogues in stock at our local topshop
shall we agree on the weekend of the 10-11th of november?

perfect for that week-end. once you've booked it i'll book it too with DH!

brougues always my favourites. Now you mention maybe I should have a look as well. (shall we meet up with same pair of shoes on!! [) and yes, the rottermeier's (which BTW is called rotteNmeier really! no kidding!) one also a favourite but since DD not many occasion to wear heels, so unforunately not for me.

one of the highlights of the week-end away was the fact that I had all this time to get ready for dinner (mosturiising, make up even blowdry hair - unheard of in the pippi's household)...heaven, and to dress really smart with high high heels (okay from room to hotel rest!). I felt million dollars. normally is all stars (now ugg boots) jeans and god know which jumper!

francagoestohollywood · 02/10/2007 21:27

our friends from london are visiting us this weekend, so I'll ask them if they can offer me the sofabed...
I spent the whole morning "shopping" today, as I desperately need a pair of jeans/trousers and shoes. But I failed. Tried at least 12 pair of trousers but looked hideous. I tried 4 beautiful magliette at zara e mi stavano malissimo. I'm not sure whether mi stavano davvero male or it's just that I badly need to go to the hairdresser. My hair is grey, ffs!!! bought lots of stuff for dd though and a maglione for ds

I'm off to watch flight of the conchords on bbc4 now. (e' bellissimo) ciao!

hotHELL · 02/10/2007 21:36

i am buying the brogues on thursday, how funny we all want them. i will go to the topshop on the strand.
i am watching Bringing up Baby which is awful/awful, but addictive. i have days when i NEED crap telly, so relaxing.
i am sooo excited about meeting because it is like i know you, but then i realize i don't and feel a bit anxious. ho fatto un meet up una volta, e la tipa era cosi' noiosa, non era affatto come la sua mumsnet persona! I am goig to keep my new name, it makes me sound scary and mean!

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 09:30

I watched flight of the conchords on bbc4 then watched bringing up baby on channel 4 +1 (ah, the joys of cable tv!!!). What an awfully irritating programme. I find them all irritating in their different ways. And can't believe how could any parent leave 3 days old babies to cry in the garden. I also felt a bit broody, which doesn't help.
gosh, yes, what if we find each other incredibly dull? Nah, I'm quite optimistic . I met really great mnetters on a local meetup, really, really nice

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 12:36

Also the woman who says you have to live in a tribal way with your baby. WTF?

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 14:12

Lol. Yes, I'm always a bit with the notion that what is tribal/primitive even natural is necesseraly good. But that's me. Mind you I co-slept with both dc for the first few months. Not ideologically, just laziness on my part

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:13

excited about meet-up too and worried a bit about a general disappointment. but I'm sure we'll have a laugh.

top shop in the strand, isn't it very small? do they do shoes there? mind you the one in oxford street in HELL... I don't think there's a place I hate more than that one. I am sure they've got nice stuff but everytime I go it is so packed, the music so loud I end up leaving in a huff! gawd, I sound ancient!!!

I meant not to co-sleep but often fell asleep with DD in bed while night breast feeding. moses basket next to bed as well. super lazy me!

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 19:18

i think it has shoes, will let you know...

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:19

whaqt do you think about midwife led birth centres?

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 19:23

Are there any obstetricians around in case things go round? We had pretty crap midwiwes, reeeeealllllly ignorant and thick, so hte idea of being left with a bunch of them feels me with horror. [no offense to any midwife reading this, I love you all really]

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 19:25

Does anybody know how to make peperonata? Especially you mamma di Pippi.
Franca is your real name really Franca?

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:34

hothell I can ask her. She makes a good one.

something similar she gave me is this: put all your vegs (peppers, aubergines, zucchine, carrots, onions - potatoes) in a wok. add olive oil, one tin of tomatoes in chunks, salt and pepper (peperoncino if not for DC). mix. put on slow/medium heat and cook till all soft like peperonata. mischia di tanto in tanto.
buonissima.

cut the vegs in chunks according to softnes. smaller piecs for carrot and potatoes, bigger for peppers etc, but I'm sure you know that!

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:34

mamma would probably 'treat' the aubergines before but lazy daughter cannot be bother so they go in straight as they are.

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:36

bother...ED

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:36

tonight I am having fusilli with burro e rucola.

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 19:36

can it be a normal pan? we don't have a wok. sounds delicious and simple. ahhh, l'umbria.

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 19:37

mmm, buono!

PippiBloodyStump · 03/10/2007 19:47

si i am sure as long as it is 'non stick' though. ah, cover with the lid.

umbria cuore verde d'italia

tell us a recipe from your region hothell.

hotHELL · 03/10/2007 20:29

i am a terrible cook, i burn even toast. let me think about it though.

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 20:32

No, real name ends with esca
Yes, hothell we want to know your regional recipes. which region are you from, btw. I don't remember. Is it Campania? Funny you made peperonata today. I made pasta (mezze maniche voiello) with homemade tomato sauce and peppers
I wonder how rosa's doing. Wouldn't want her to spend all her time at the gym instead of mumsnet
did you find the shoes?
