Swagger Inn thread 165 - wenches get --locked-- down with the HBFs (ylt)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2020 11:33

Lockdown rolls on, so we're staying in and isolating with the FAF. Grin
The bar is stocked, the floor has been mopped, the tables have been wiped, and the HBFs are however you want them Grin

(We're also doing lots of washing and gardening.)

Thanks for the Wine Helen. That doesn’t sound like the funnest day ever.

I’m watching Sewing Bee. It’s the 1980s and I’m having flashbacks to the shoulder pads Grin. They’ve got some excellent music playing too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/06/2020 21:56

We're watching sewing bee too Grin DH is playing 'name the band'. Total blast from the past. Grin He pulled that out of the bag with the gold dress!

He did! Thought it was rather lovely the way HotJudgePatrick went outside to talk to him.

I have no idea why I’m still up. Hayloft.

LetUsPrey · 04/06/2020 08:46

Morning wenches. Another cloudy, cool day but no rain expected. Hopefully it’s with wenches who need it for their gardens.

Not a great deal planned for today other than a “run”, general house stuff, and schoolwork.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/06/2020 10:12

Morning. Cool and cloudy here too. We had a bit of rain overnight and another smattering this morning, but nothing overly significant.

We are, once again, in schoolwork hell. Not as Hellish as mini-LetUs, but my own little hell of brattish child with attitude, not wanting to do the work.

FancyFancy · 04/06/2020 13:15

Afternoon
Have a 3 hour video call planned for this afternoon - not looking forward to it tbh.

We had a little more rain, but not enough really. Clearly my dancing is not as impressive as letus thinks it is.

Hope the homework hell is diminishing

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/06/2020 16:02

DS insists that he doesn't have to do that lesson, because that lesson is not appearing on his online timetable - there is a big blank hole in the schedule. I have confirmed with school that there is a problem with the online timetable and the work that was previously set should still be done for that lesson.

For some reason, DS isn't happy and grateful for my efforts Hmm

Evening wenches.

You mean you checked Helen to make sure what he needed to do? And didn’t just leave it to then potentially cause a massive panic later. You monster!

DS2 hasn’t been too bad today although he’s still fibbing about the amount of reading he’s doing, and French was, as always, bloody painful.

I’ve done my next C25K, after it had finished raining. Tried some Pilates on YouTube but I wasn’t keen.

Urgh at lengthy video call. Your dancing was very impressive Fancy, particularly from where I was sitting

ApricotCrush · 04/06/2020 18:24

Evening. Still raining here, but I suppose we do need it.

Oh poor MiniLetUs. Sad I do feel sorry for them, and those who are trying to get them to do it.

Re Strike, I read somewhere that they may air it earlier as they're running out of progammes, but who knows?

Hope Fancy's video call wasn't too bad.

LetUsPrey · 04/06/2020 20:08

I always knew I was not one of nature’s teachers, despite the careers people at school saying that came out as a good profession for me. Even at age 15 I knew that it wasn’t. Dealing with DS2 over the years has confirmed that many times over.

I’ve got Pride and Prejudice on at the moment. Anna Chancellor is being a bit of a cow, and Colin Firth is looking dreamily at Jennifer Ehle.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/06/2020 21:02

Oooh, I'd happily take Strike asap Wink

I left the washing in the machine, wet for most of the day which was very annoying because it didn't rain this afternoon. It did go out for a bit in the end, mostly while I was out on the bike doing the exercise thing. The wildlife haul was butterflies, deer and hares Grin

We're watching Taskmaster, would rather be watching P&P.

LetUsPrey · 04/06/2020 22:07

Don’t recall any wildlife from this morning, unless you count a dog being walked Grin

We’re starting Westworld tonight. We’re about 20 minutes in and I’m really enjoying it.

FancyFancy · 04/06/2020 23:08

Video call was tiring - I am now rewarding myself with a beer. So far this week I have done 26 3/4 of my 30 hours already. Sadly I have too much work to slack off and only do 3 1/4 hours tomorrow.

I think helen wins on the wildlife front - today I saw a pair of chaffinches in the garden for the first time in ages. I put a new suet block out at the weekend and the blue tits & robins are flocking to it like wenches to faf Grin

Ha letus - I sympathise. When the DC were younger & conversations turned to going back to work I lost count of the number of people who suggested teaching to me. At which point I felt the need to tell them the thought hadn't even crossed my mind......because I'd be shit at it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/06/2020 08:49

I suppose that the advantage of teaching would be that you'd get most of the holidays off as standard. But nope. I'd just be rubbish at it I think.

Damp here this morning. The chickens, for some reason, weren't keen to escape from the coop and run around the garden Hmm Grin Lots of other birds about though.

WorkyMcWorkface today.

LetUsPrey · 05/06/2020 08:54

Morning wenches.

We get a lot of starlings here. DH hates them because they dominate the feeders.

Oh yes Fancy, teaching as a suggested profession when returning to work. I got a lot of why don’t you go into childminding. As if it’s that easy to set up and do.

Rainy again but it’s Friiiidddaaaayyyyy!!!!

FancyFancy · 05/06/2020 10:42

Morning
Yes, I think that's why they were suggesting it helen - forgetting both the 'I'd be shit at it' angle and that children are probably not best served by teachers who are only in it for the holidays!

Envy @ letus's rain

This morning the robins are constantly at the bird table, hopefully that means chicks have hatched Smile

ApricotCrush · 05/06/2020 14:54

Afternoon. April showers here. Confused

All my friends at school went to uni and became teachers. I knew it wasn't for me and left to go to secretarial college. My headmistress was mortified; she made me feel I'd wasted my place at the school. Hmm

One of the robins has been watching DH fill the skip with much interest. Don't know where the other one is, hopefully she's sitting on eggs.

Grin at like wenches to faf.

LetUsPrey · 05/06/2020 18:16

Evening wenches. Like wenches to FAF is now an official phrase Grin

Bit of an up and down day. Lots of rain, bit of sun, bloody windy all day getting worse now. DS2 had another “do” which included some less than desirable language.

Hope work got done as quickly as you could Helen.

I knew university wasn’t for me either Apricot. I think I’d have enjoyed the student life, but I was realistic as far as the studying went.

Love the image of robin supervising skip filling Smile

Graduation day today, for upper secondary school (or what you call it). I graduated 31 years ago, about to turn 18. I'm so f-ing OLD Confused

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/06/2020 19:40

I'm the one in red. Cause I'm a rebel Grin

LetUsPrey · 05/06/2020 20:09

Love that you’re such a rebel Wicked! Gosh, most of that photo is like an 80’s pop video Grin And you’re not old because that would mean I’m old, and I’m not.

Had a dream with wenches in it last night. And Paella. We were somewhere hot - Ibiza I think - and at an outside bar which was up some steps, overlooking sort of a town square. I heard singing and looked down and saw Paella. I’m standing with mouth open, pointing and trying to tell wenches that he was there but I couldn’t speak properly. Apricot and Wicked carried on drinking and chatting Grin, Fancy was looking at me like I was an idiot because I wouldn’t go down . Helen took matters in hand and dragged me down the steps for a photo and chat with him. When we got there he’d gone but were told he’d be back very soon. And sadly there it ended.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/06/2020 20:40

Go Dream-me - I'm good at sorting out other people with their FAF Grin (I actually did that at the screening - dragged someone over to talk to Hugo because they were wibbling about approaching him. I forget who is was now though.)

Have had a day of spreadsheets (no change there then) and it's been raining on and off all day. Apocalyptic clouds at one point, and some thunder but we're still here.

Why are you all wearing those hats Wicked? I don't think we did photos for leaving college. We must have, but I can't recall what we did as a leaving thing.

Glad to hear that the skip has arrived Apricot and fingers crossed for the robins hatching another brood.

Hope that Fancy has had a decent day and not worked late.

It's tradition Helen, since the 1800's. Like the Americans have their tassel thingy.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/06/2020 21:44

Love your dream Letus. Not surprised I continued drinking Grin
