I've lost it from my watched threads and can't find it by searching either, am I just being stupid?

Hi all

The film was brill!!!!!

The scenery and sheer scale, plus the music made it reminiscient of LOTR , and funnily enough it has two actors from LOTR featuring...

Great night out with the 2 older dd's...a rare thing these days..

SquonkaClaus · 06/12/2007 11:45

glad you had a lovely time, fred.

P'raps I'll take dd1 over christmas....

Dropdeadfred · 06/12/2007 14:02

Squonk - I'd recommend it for a bit of mum and daughter bonding..

Egg - where are you?
Was it today she had her Dad coming?

SquonkaClaus · 06/12/2007 14:45

yeah, she's got her dad with her.

And I think she said friends coming at the weekend, so she might not get round to switching the puter on till next week!

Egg · 06/12/2007 19:29

Tis me. Am back. Sorry forgot to update you as my dad was here last night and by the time we got DS to bed I was busy "cooking" supper etc and then falling asleep in front of Newcastle v Arsenal...

Anyway, all good at scan, Nemo is now 4lb 1oz and Dory is 3lb 6oz. Nemo is dead on average for a single baby of this gestation and Dory a bit below. Both are now HEAD DOWN so my chances for attempting a vaginal birth are good at present.

However... it was confirmed at consultant appt today that I have a prolapse. I first suspected when we were on hols two months ago, then wasn't sure. I asked my midwife about it and she said it sounded like one, but to speak to the consultant. So he had a look . Not pretty. He said it is not that unusual esp with the weight of twins and the fact that I have been crap at pelvic floor exercises this time round and will not cause a problem for a natural birth and could in fact make it slightly easier, although prolapse will of course be more severe afterwards (cannot imagine what it will look like!).

So, that's me summarised.

Fred so sorry for you and DD. It is bad enough you being ill, or DD being ill, but both is no fun. DS is fine but still coughs up a lot of phlegm in the morning, and he coughed it up so much he threw his entire LARGE cup of milk up all over the carpet. Most of it had been down about half an hour so it was all cottage cheese style and it STANK. I have scrubbed the carpet, used carpet cleaner, etc etc but I can still smell it. My dad was impressed . Still took DS to nursery half an hour later as it was just from choking / coughing and he wasn't ill. He was fine all day and he spent a long old day there, from 9am to 5pm as I don't like to have to take him to hospital, esp as, like today, I normally end up waiting AN HOUR before going in and it is boiling hot and very dull in there. DH worked from home yesterday so he could look after DS but he can't do two days in a row.

Anyway, sorry, very looooooooong post.....

Hope everyone is doing ok, marmite hope you were not too hungover today . As Squonk said, you ARE a bit of a party animal, certainly compared to the rest of us on here...

marmitemad · 06/12/2007 21:02

hooray, am very to hear that things are so well with nemo & dory, but about your prolapse, hope you are doing your exercises now. how many weeks are you???

Egg - I just saw you on a thread about giving up dummies. I am torn about when to start withdrawing dd's dummy. I hate having to use it when out and also getting up in the night to replace it (although we have just had 2 full nights from her) but if I limit use she just sucks her thumb and/or the ear of her comforter. cm tried school run yesterday without it and she screamed the whole time they were out. I was thinking about waiting until she was 12 months but will it just get harder?

I'm not really a party animal but suddenly seem to have lots of events to go to. Am going on my departments xmas lunch tomorrow on the watercress line so will wave to egg.

looking forward even more to seeing the golden compass now.

SquonkaClaus · 07/12/2007 08:30

oh marmite, you made me look at gorgeous, cute, little puppies! I want one now

egg - prolapse - yikes! Will they fix it after you've had Nemo & Dory or will it get better by itself?

Dropdeadfred · 07/12/2007 09:55

Egg - you poor thing. I don't really know alot about prolapses, is it painful? Will it go away by itself?
Does it prevent a sex life ?

Egg · 07/12/2007 12:46

We have no SEX LIFE! What is a sex life? I don't think it prevents it, although it was after the last intimate incident that I first noticed it as things got a bit more swollen and have not attempted it since (really just never never never in the mood...).

It is not painful as such, it is basically my uterus hanging down . It is not hanging quite out yet, thank god, but it is visible if you have a proper look. I try not to, as it is not pretty.......... I personally wonder how on earth I have two babies in my uterus when half of it is coming down where it shouldn't, but the consultant was not at all concerned. No idea what kind of shape i will be in after I give birth if I do manage a natural birth, imagine it will be more out than in after pushing two more out, but as I NEVER plan on having any more I am not too concerned. My mum had a prolapse and had it operated on when she was in her late fifties, but she had a hysterectomy. Npt sure what my "cure" would involve.

Marmite, the pelvic floor exercises will help but with the weight of two babies and the amount of time left before they are due, it will not be enough (am 32 weeks tomorrow ).

How is your DD today Fred?

Squonk, what have you been up to? Not heard any amusing Squonky anecdotes for aaaaages.

DS gone to bed early today. He coughed a lot last night and only had a very short nap at nursery yesterday so was very tired. Hope he sleeps a loooooooong time (til 3 at least please).

Egg · 07/12/2007 12:51

Marmite sorry, forgot to say, I only started giving DS a dummy aged about 4 months out of desperation as he was hell to get to sleep, and the dummy meant he went straight off without crying. By 5 months he was waking 15 times a night for it. I was at my wits end. I called the Health Visitor in tears (she was lovely, wish she had moved down here when we did...), and she came straight round to see us. She suggested going cold turkey on the dummy, and also starting DS on some carrot etc as he seemed ready.

The first couple of nights were hard, although I don't remember them being a nightmare, but he soon started sleeping better than he ever had. He also discovered his Blankie about this time, it had always been in his cot but he had taken no notice, and he now cannot and will not even contemplate sleeping without Blankie, unless he is in the car or occasionally Zapp. But he only has the Blankie for sleep times and when he is ill, and is not allowed to take it out or have it around the house (although he is trying v hard today). He only very occasionally loses Blankie at night, (if he falls down the side of the bed) and then all hell breaks loose with him screaming "BABBIE" over and over til one of us goes in.

Sorry. That was long .

Finally, the puppies are goooooooorgeous.

Egg · 07/12/2007 12:52

I do mean if Blankie falls down the side of the bed, not DS.

Although I have found DS asleep on the floor next to the bed many a time...

Dropdeadfred · 07/12/2007 14:06

Egg, dd3 is okay thanks but this illness seems to have coincided.(or caused) thr most major tantrums. Screaming and kicking like a banshee over the slightest thing.

I pretend I cannot hear her at all until she speaks normally..but that is getting harder and harder as the day goes on..I am feeling so crap! I have practically lost my voice and cannot speak anyway without coughing for 5 minutes afterwards and going purple in the face...

I can't sleep at night through constant coughing either so I'm knackered..just looked in mirror..eeugh now I feel sick..

We didn't want dd3 to have a dummy and as it happened she hated them (tried one in despair a couple of times)..luckily she has fixations on various toys that last a week or so and then she switeches allegiance to another..as long as she has a 'friend' at night she'snot that bothered which.

Egg, I hope they can sort something out for you asap after the twins arrive. I am sure in these modern times you won't need anything as drastic as your mum had..

Egg · 10/12/2007 10:49

BLoody hell this is tumbleweed city over here. Have not been on as had visitors at the weekend, am completely shattered again and had to get some shopping done this morning. Wanted to catch up with you girls before having a proper rest.

Fred really hope you have had some TLC over the weekend and are feeling better. DS also seemed to change overnight with his "attitude problem" when he was ill, and he is much more tantrumy and whingey now. If I say no to anything (tv, biscuit etc) he screams and throws himself at the floor. I think I really need to cut back his tv, he has got used to way too much every time he is ill. On Friday night he was up for two hours in the night, and I was awake til midnight anyway with insomnia . Last night he was silent all night, but up at 6:20am. It is strange he varies so much, at least once or twice a week he sleeps right through, no coughing or crying, and wakes after 7, but then he has a night where he screams and screams til he gets a cuddle.

Exciting news, one of the twin ladies on our Feb thread had her baby girls on Thursday 6 Dec. They are tiny but doing well (she wasn't due til nearly 4 weeks after me!).

SquonkaClaus · 10/12/2007 10:51

ooh, egg! does that bring it home to you? that in a little while, you'll have twins!!!

anyway, good morning. Hope everyone had a reasonably ok weekend and everyone's littlies are feeling better.

egg - is ds in nursery today? and are you going to get your head down and just sleep until he comes home? hope so

nothing to report here, everything normal chez squonk.

Egg · 10/12/2007 10:57

Was planning to come straight home at 9am and sleep, but had to get some bread, so went into town, and then ended up getting a few more Christmas bits, which is good, as half the reason I can't sleep at night is worrying about what i still need to do / get (the other half is the FEAR OF TWINS!!), but meant I only got back at 10:30. DS is at nursery til 12:30 ish, so time is running out!

Decided I must catch up quickly on here, think I need to turn off computer now before I stay too long.

And yes, it indeed brings it home about the fact I will have TWO BABIES soon too . The fact that she was due end of Feb is quite scary! I think another twin lady on Feb thread (due same day as me) will be popping hers out soon too, as she has already had labour stopped once, and was still contracting on and off. Arrrggh.

SquonkaClaus · 10/12/2007 11:04

if you do a list of what you still need to do before Christmas, then you can stop worrying. It's on the list, it's in the process of being sorted.

Also, if you do go into labour and have TWO BABIES any time soon, dh can take over the Christmas stuff coz you've done a list

(and yes, I realise that Christmas will be the last of your worries, but you will, nevertheless, worry about it if it happens!)

Egg · 10/12/2007 11:28

I know, I know, as I lay awake last night I wished I had a pen and paper to start writing things down. I usually do loads of lists. It was on my agenda for this morning!

Right, I am off for a while, I only have just over an hour left without DS, and I can never guarantee lots of spare time at lunch anymore as he doesn't always sleep v long.

marmitemad · 10/12/2007 18:43

thanks for the advice about dummies everyone.

Nothing exciting to report here, have been busy visiting family and friends over the weekend.

dd has a chesty cough and I am feeling a bit low again but looking forward to going to a murder mystery game dinner tomorrow with the girls and the new windows being fitted on Wed and Thurs (cue chaos in the marmite house as I still have to order a new curtain pole for the lounge)

How are you feeling Egg? is there any indication that nemo & dory might be early arrivals? Hope you are trying to take it easy (apart from list making) and delegating to dh.

OP posts:
Egg · 10/12/2007 20:11

Hello marmite! Sorry you are feeling a bit low. I seem to go from one extreme to the other. Have had a lovely day today (of course it helped that DS was out for 4 hours this morning) but he has been a real sweetheart all afternoon and evening, has eaten well, has not had a tantrum, has played with his toys instead of demanding tv etc etc. I have told him about 100 times how much I love him and what a good boy he is.

No indication Nemo and Dory will come early. I can't see myself reaching the end as my tummy is so tight and hard that I just can't see it accommodating them for too long, but don't have any reason to think they will come just yet.

Saying that, had no inkling DS was coming, went shopping to Kingston on the day I went into labour, wandered round fine for an hour or two. Even having supper that night about 7:30 i had no idea. Then at 9 I had a whopper of a contraction and he was born 4 hour later. Really must sort that hospital bag properly .

Egg · 11/12/2007 09:01

Morning girls. DS at nursery, I am home FREEEEEEE for 3.5 hours. Got the usual daily chores to do but nothing too much thankfully. DS woke at 6:20 when DH crashed around loudly in bathroom.

SquonkaClaus · 11/12/2007 14:53

hello everyone

dp has managed to get up and dressed and off to work without waking us up for about six mornings now - a bit of a record, as he usually wakes up the entire house at 5.30 and at least one of the littlies won't go back to sleep.

But this morning, I didn't get out of bed till 9 (yes, NINE o'clock ) so you can throw things at me if you like.

egg - have you seen this thread? I know a lot of what she's got you won't need, but it says that she will split it into lots and I didn't know if you would be interested.

marmite - hope you're feeling a bit better - t at least you're winning at scrabble how did the murder mystery go? did you solve it?

Egg · 11/12/2007 15:06

ooh Squonk thanks for that link. I do really want that breastpump but not worth getting until I know for sure that I will manage to breastfeed (and for more than a week or two). Bag of girls stuff sounds good too as I mainly have boys. I bought some basics in the charity shop the other day, got 8 items for £4.50, and have bought a pink striped cardi (and blue matching one), and matching his n hers rompers, but otherwise all I have for Dory are the few neutral things DS had, and a couple of bits from my sis.

No comment on the 9am thing .

SquonkaClaus · 11/12/2007 15:08

SquonkaClaus · 12/12/2007 07:46

well, that'll teach me to boast about late sleeping children before 7 this morning!

I know, I know, serves me right I just wish I hadn't stayed up till 1am wrapping Christmas prezzies though.

How's everyone else this morning?
