DS1’s parents’ evening tonight straight from when I get in from work.

Frosty and cold here, and my computer has been busy updating itself. So I've been cleaning out a gutter which is really unnecessarily productive of me this early in the day. Then again, I'm out shopping later, so at least that's done and out of the way. Must also go and vote, and decide where to park whilst shopping. And write more cards. (Control your excitement!)

Evening. We normally walk to the polling station as it's a nice walk, but it was chucking it down, so had to go in the car.

Parents’ evening went well. Capable of getting very good grades but needs to put a lot of work in so that’s up to him.

Same weather here Apricot. Dismal and dark all day. Voted on the way home from work. DS1 voted for the first time today.

Am away tomorrow evening for DH’s Christmas party so I need to be packed and ready to go as soon as I get home.

Also been peeing down all day here. I did have a very productive shopping session, so that was good - I bought lots of presents for myself I've just finished a wrapping session now. Tomorrow I'll have to have a posting session...

It's dry so far today. Lots of dismal cloud though.

The presents are wrapped for posting and for a gift exchange on Saturday - I'm not that organised .

On our way to fancy hotel for DH’s Christmas party, although we are currently in the car park otherwise known as the M6.

Afternoon. Windy, but quite bright here.

No more cards done again but I've been trying to do some admin including renewing car insurance which is a bloody pain.

Also, my oven has gone kaput, which is just what you want at this time of year. DH has swanned off to the golf club and asked me to do research. The lower oven and grill are fine, but the top one won't switch on.

I have no idea what I've been doing today. More shopping. Oh - I tried to make tablet by following a recipe. The first batch burnt, the second is massively crumbly... Never mind...

Back in the room earlier than expected. It all got a bit cliquey and I started to feel very much the outsider. Made an effort to chat - nope. And the queues at the bar were horrendous so not much chance of a drink. Ho hum never mind.

Those parties often go like that LetUs. The oven's only 19 years old, practically new. Nothing gets replaced here until it's at least 35 years old, unless it's a fridge and you can't mend those. I'm still using an iron and ironing board I had as a wedding present over 50 years ago. Anyway, it's the fan element that's gone and we've ordered a new one.
