What sort of school bag did girls have in the 90's?

Daughter is trying to source some for a school project but I honestly can't remember anything in particular.

Can you remember what you had around that time?

I had this Kookai one but in black goo.gl/images/edNc81 - at least 10 of the girls in my class had them. We weren't sheep at all.

Loads of people also had THE Nike backpack goo.gl/images/DEkKub.

Mid-late 90s, messenger bags or rucksacks on one shoulder

I started high school in 95 and left in 2000. The ultimate girls school bag was a black warehouse cross body satchel, closely followed by Jane Norman. If you didn't have one of those bags you were sitting alone at lunchtime. I remember begging my mum for the warehouse bag, they were canvas with a long material strap, blain black with warehouse written on in white letters just so everyone knew where it was from lol!

ScreamingValenta that to me was a bag goth /hippie students would have in the early 90s. I really wanted to get one when I was older, had no idea where they sold them, but they'd gone out of fashion by then, and I realised they would get soggy in the rain anyway..

Some people at school had Jansport bags too but they were not actively fashionable, they were just sort of there. Nobody mentioned the brand.

coughingbean · 15/01/2019 17:03

Early nineties was a cross body record bag type thing, late monies going into 00s a rucksack on both shoulders .
But it HAD to be a "skater/surfer" brand.

Ethel80 · 15/01/2019 17:06

Benetton duffle for me and a Head holdall like the ones above.

I also had a horrible orange backpack that accidentally got lost.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 15/01/2019 17:06

Record bags.

HappyLazzer · 15/01/2019 17:06

Head bags and record bags

TulipsInbloom1 · 15/01/2019 17:08

Morgan or Kookai black shopper bags.
Pink plastic Jane Norman carrier bags with black rope handles, bonus for a few splits in it.

Haworthia · 15/01/2019 17:08

I had a couple of those Head bags like secretmetoo showed upthread. I’m sure I had other bags at secondary school, but those Head bags are a strong memory Grin

Weepingwillows12 · 15/01/2019 17:09

Early to mid 90s - Army surplus bag with band pins all over and some "art work" drawn on in biros haha. Then late 90s I had an skate logo rucksack. Possibly airwalk or dc. Friends of mine also did the novelty bag thing so bags shaped like animals - teddies, wombles etc

Suzysuzuki · 15/01/2019 17:09

Definitely what @secretmetoo said for my early 90's school days. Especially if above the Head logo you wrote "I give good" despite never having given a BJ Grin

SenoraSurf · 15/01/2019 17:11

I had a blow up bag that was green clear plastic. So friggin cool!

SimplyPut · 15/01/2019 17:11

Green Benetton duffel bag

Kenworthington · 15/01/2019 17:13

Like pp I had a woven basket bag with long leather straps -about 89 to 1990
Then from 1990-1992 a sand coloured army surplus bags graffitied with yin yang, cnd, neds atomic dustbin, Carter, mega city four, nirvana.
Then I left (all girls convent private) school and went to 6th form college and had a brown pleather rucksack. When I went off to art college in 95, I had a vintage briefcase and a basket again,

KeithLeMonde · 15/01/2019 17:16

Mid 90s all the girls at my school started carrying their stuff in these. They were completely impractical for all the text books we had to carry.

Branleuse · 15/01/2019 17:16

I so wanted a head bag but never got one.
Cant remember what I actually had, but probably something very uncool

partypoopers · 15/01/2019 17:17

Late 90s it was all about Morgan shopper style bags, and anything extra in a Jane Norman carrier bag Grin I also had a grey cross-body bag after I coveted Sarah-Lou’s on Corrie!

DailyFailAreTwats · 15/01/2019 17:18

Same as Keith, woven basket type thing for books etc, usually with a selection of lever arch files under your arm for notes. Ridiculous! (Private all girls school, '90 - '97)

mamansnet · 15/01/2019 17:20

I had a cotton one from Body Shop at one point, and a duffel bag. STRICTLY one shoulder only. And anything with the word Kangol or Cat/Caterpillar (the brand) on it.

grasspigeons · 15/01/2019 17:20

I feel like we all had record bags

ifeellikeanidiot · 15/01/2019 17:20

Army surplus canvas bag here too. Mine wasn't a rucksack, more like a big cross body number. Khaki, scratchy and with band names scribbled on. Early/mid nineties.

BlazeM · 15/01/2019 17:23

Head bag as pictured earlier, but it could only be carried using one carry handle, over your shoulder tipped sideways.
My parents questioned why I didn’t carry it using the long shoulder strap, they were so uncool.

elliejjtiny · 15/01/2019 17:27

I had a head bag in 1994 and then I had one of those shoulder bags that looked like a cushion cover with tassels.

BlazeM · 15/01/2019 17:28

And a black Take That duffle bag, but that got discarded when Robbie left Grin
