francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 12:17

it's actually the girls guite do hunting and fishing. but the wonder spot is probably nicer. or buy them both

PippiLangstrump · 13/09/2007 12:32

I will. i need a laugh!
have you found a place in MI yet?

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 13:24

Actually, yes. It appears so. My mother has found a place which is not too expensive and is in an area we really like. Pluse it's just round the corner from one of my dearest friends! The schools are quite good and it's not too far away from my parents' house as well. It's not huge, but again, it's good money, we can squeeze a bit until we are really settled and then we can look to buy a house.
Oh dear, it's all happening, we've had the estate agents around, and today when took ds to school I felt like crying.

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 13:29

Wow Franca, that was quick! It took me ages when I was flat-hunting, I kept being shown really horrible places che mi mettevano l'angoscia as soon as I stepped through the door. Lucky you finding somewhere nice so soon..

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 13:38

Hi brangelina, this is actually a bit of a gamble as my mother saw it and highly recommended it. I know it sounds crazy to get something without seeing it, but I really trust my mother in this area (she's a property addict). Also we are looking at it as a temporary thing, and the rpice was tempting. It;s been recently renovated and it;s 3rd floor which is good. Otherwise I'll kill my mother.
I'm going to Milan in October, would you like to meet? If so I can get this CAT thing and cat you...

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 13:39

(property addict doesn't mean she buys a flat every other week...)

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 13:51

Yes, that would be great. Let me know when you're coming and we can organise a mega apertivo or something. I might have to go away for a week for work but nothing is confirmed yet.

You are brave trusting your mother. Mine is also a bit of a property junkie but our tastes have diversified over the years. You should see the clothes she buys me, she hasn't moved on from my 80s alternative/punky phase. Yes, it's coming back into fashion but she still chooses the wrong things.

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 13:57

well, I wouldn't trust my mother for anything else. Mind you last xmas she got me a nice tovaglia, but I think she had been assisted by sil.
Let me work out this cat thing, I think it takes a few days to be operative. In your registration you have to say "yes" to receive cat messages, I believe.

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 14:05

I've done the enabling thing. Look forward to hearing from you.

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 14:08

I've done it! I've just catted you (feeling of exhilaration)

Rosa · 13/09/2007 14:14

Oh Franca please send your Mamma to venice to find me a house. I am searching and go seeing and I have seen so much rubbish for so much money.
Am in fretta today as have accounts for dh to do ...AHHHH and a festa di comp to go to dd cousin.
Pippi are you still feeling yuck? I say go with the mint tea or if you can face it ginger tea

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 14:25

I'll send her over then Rosa. Plus she's an excellent babysitter... . Gosh it must be pretty hard househunting in Venezia... probabilmete cercano di fregarti the whole time.
The only thing that remotely worked for me when pg and sick was pepperment tea and caramelle alla liquirizia saila menta.

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 14:32

Franca - so what happens next, does it arrive in my maibox or what? [being really thick emoticon]

Rosa, tanti soldi per robaccia is the norm in Milan too (or maybe I was just unlucky). Franca's lucky to have a mum with a golden eye.

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 14:37

You should get in your mailbox a message from MN saying that franca (followed by my email address) wants to contact you. so basically you click on my email and write me back, I think.
Sorry I didn't want to come through as one of those who usually manage to find fantastic places for cheap prices, never have been (though know people who don't know rent amazing flats for virtually no money becuase it belonged to a friend of a friend of a friend . It's just not too expensive, which is good and in an area we like. I'm pretty sure that the landlord will turn out to be a pita...

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 14:41

I've just received it and replied. How cool!

You don't come across as one of those people at all, I was just bemoaning my lack fo success when looking to buy before I found this place. In truth, the flat I lived in before near Navigli belonged to a friend and I was paying quite a bit lower than the normal rates for the area, so I am in fact one of those golden people and have absolutely no right to criticise.

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 14:51

don't I? damn! I was hoping to come across like the tpical cool milanese...
received your message!!! Feeling a mix of relief and disappoint that you are not the real brangelina

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 14:52

it's disappointment, isn't it? (I'll never learn this language)

Brangelina · 13/09/2007 15:14

You write it much better than the vast majority of Brits, at least you can spell!

And yes, I am the real Brangelina, how dare you cast aspersions on my authenticity! Didn't you notice I wasn't on line during Venezia? That was because I was on a boat with Brad. So there!

On another note, do you (or anyone) always give your children primo e secondo at mealtimes? I just wondered because someone expressed surprise that my DD usually gets a piatto unico + fruit/pudding. Am I very strange?

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 15:20

Have to run, but yes piatto unico here as well. Either primo or secondo +frutta. sometimes it's primo, followed by ham or mozzarella or pezzo di parmigiano + frutta.

PippiLangstrump · 13/09/2007 17:00

piatto unico here as well. pasta with veg etc or a plate with meat/fish and veg or cheese etc.

who eats more than one course these days?

I'm glad you found the place. I would trust my mum as well I think if I wasn't such a control freak in things like that. But yes I would.

I've been drinking ginger tea every morning since day one.. [vomit emoticon]. better today anyway. the evenings are the worst but I think the days I'm at work are so stressful and rushed that make it worse.

can I come for aperitivo as well. l'll be in udine in october...

Jane4 · 13/09/2007 17:28

Piatto unico here as well, pasta with salad (we nearly always have salad) Fish with salad, meat with veg (no salad) my fave is Grigliata di verdure yum! On sundays in the winter we have a roast dinner (English style) In the summer usually a BBQ. Fruit for dessert, sweet pudding once a week. When we have a dinner party or family over from Italy we do the full 5 courses. Yum, mouth watering again.

PippiLangstrump · 13/09/2007 17:49

see we need to eat more salad in this family. we do veg very often but I forget salad exists at times which is a shame as I make good salads and I like them!

francagoestohollywood · 13/09/2007 17:55

lol jane, we always end up talking about food!
si pippi come over to milan! shall I cat you as well? (becoming a cat fanatic!)
lots of salads here as well, although at the moment the children are only keen on pomodori in insalata rather than the whole lot... they are always changing tastes

PippiLangstrump · 13/09/2007 18:10

i'd love to franca but I think it'll take me too long. I'm only there for 5 day to see nonno. shame it would have been lovely!

Rosa · 13/09/2007 20:08

Phew other Italians who do Piatto unico. DD has pasta with meat or verdure or variations then usually fruitta for pudding.DH has also adapted as I can't face doing both he might have a primo for lunch then secondo per cena or vice versa depending.
Brangelina DH says hi he saw you as well in Venice but you were a bit grumpy !!
LOL at fregatura x case . Saw one this week and estate agent says Signora it is a good house you only need to do impanto electrico , e riscaldamento...No need to spaccare i pavimenti o spostare i muri. Then in next breath he says just think if you moved that wall in the bathroom and the kitchen one a bit ....
