Rosa! how's it going in cornwall? ups! I thought noone was around yesterday night and just mi sono impigrita on the sofa watching friends re-runs and smack the pony.
Hi med, I'm all rightish, still want to ring the gp, but have had very busy weeks. I really think I'm a bit meteopatica, like Verdone in Bianco Rosso e Verdone. Today it's windy and grey, what am I going to do with the children? Looks like ANOTHER day at the library... And you? Sounds like you had a fantastic holidays.

mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 15:42

i am very well, the holiday was great to think through things, get closer to dp, get a tan, get fatter, etc.
well, i am very well mentally, except we seem to have picked up the latest school bug, dp was vomiting during the night. ds seems fine, more energetic than ever. i am full of aches and pains, we went to the library too.....and food shopping.

great, happy to hear that . I always put on weight on holiday too, when I'm a bit more relaxed and have access to pizzette.

mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 19:06

Advice about ds peeing in the night: he is almost 4 and he has managed 3 nights without a nappy in the last week - should i persist or put him back in a nappy? Should i restrict his drinks? When should he have his last drink if he goes to bed at 8? Sorry it is terribly boring.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 30/06/2007 19:43

I'd persist. But I'm not sure whether I'd restrict his drinks either... Although I wouldn't give him a whole bottle of chamomile before bedtime... Mine brush their teeth and usually drink half a glass of water before bed.

mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 19:53

Grazie Franca, soo boring this pipi business.
ds and dp are watching doctor who....yawn.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 30/06/2007 19:59

what's this doctor who business? I've never watched it. Is it suitable for children then? [ignorant emoticon]. Ds (five on wednesday!!) is developing great curiosita' for guerre stellari, and I'm wondering whether it's not too early? what do you think?

francagoestohollywood · 30/06/2007 20:02

and regarding pipi' again, strangely both dc started to be dry at night before the whole potty training business. Ds was ok con la pipi', ma per un anno ha voluto mettere il pannolone tutte le volte che doveva fare la pupu'. non ti dico gli psicodrammi.

mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 20:03

To be honest i think doctor who is really not for little ones, but a lot of his classmates watch it, so he asks to see it and as dp likes it....i think ds understands nothing about it, but still makes him happy. it seems that by 4 or 5 most kids have watched star wars, seems a bit young to me. Peer pressure I guess. Not sure what to do tonight.

OP posts:
mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 20:03

glad this pipi stuff will be over soon, hopefully.

francagoestohollywood · 30/06/2007 20:08

yes, I reckon it's too early. Some of ds schoolmates have already watched spiderman. And one has a playstation , apparently. Ds is still clueless about ps. What do you mean, are you going out? I've signed for tesco dvd rentals, and tonight I've got.... the devil wears prada , but I swear, my renting list's got more "pretentious" movies on...

mediterraneo · 30/06/2007 20:12

ohh, the devil wears prada is sooo funny. Can't watch anything pretentious these days, sends me straight to sleep. I think I will read, I hardly go out in the evening, I wish I had the energy, enthusiasm. I should try though.

francagoestohollywood · 30/06/2007 20:18

lol. Right, I'm going to get the children to bed (they usually go at eight but I'm a bit lax on weekends... I'll then watch tdwp eating som chocolate icecream. I'm a living cliche'. What are you reading? I'm reading some short stories by john fante.

Rosa · 30/06/2007 21:10

Ciao , Cornwall damp went and bought dd some wellingtons and a pair of closed in shoes as she only had sandals £29 in one go ! But at least if it stops raining then she can go out and not get saoking feet. I am still fighting off the cold I had before we left so no piscina domani if it is still raining. Feel so sorry for all those poor people flooded out. I used to have an office that went under during aqua alta.. Cali, I'm sorry for your friend's dad
If you don't want/need to be too formal you can write as Rosa said:
Cari xxx, Vi siamo vicini nel vostro dolore. Le piu' sentite condoglianze, Califrog e famiglia. tell me if you want it to make it more "personale"
(Carixxx, vi siamo vicini nel vostro dolore e sentiremo sempre la mancanza di xxx, che ha lasciato un grande vuoto nel mondo, con grande affetto califrog etc)

This book of short stories isn't great (well some stories are actually good), I read some of his novels ages ago, I liked them, you know, famiglia di emigrati italiani adapting to American life in the 30s. I'll go check downstairs and pass the titles on
