Morning all!
Had an early night and a good sleep and now I feel much better!
Sassy, I run my own business letting out and managing properties. It's very small-scale, I'm in no way a property magnate(!!!) and most of my tenants have been with me 5+ years. I pride myself on offering well decorated and well maintained properties that are available for a long-term let.
It allows me to work from home but does have its drawbacks. I've had to deal with issues whilst on holiday, while I was in hospital with DD2 for the first of her operations or my personal favourite, a tenant who wanted me to go and let the plumber into his property whilst I was about to go in for my c-section with DS2! It can be stressful at times, because I always want to do my very best for my tenants, but on the whole, I really love my job.
Yesterday, I had a phone call from the management company of a building where I own a flat, to say that the flat below mine had water dripping through their ceiling! 😱 I knew my tenants were away for a week (typical!) so I had to get DS1 to look after the babies, jump in the car, call my plumber on the way and drive 40 minutes to the property.
Turned out it was the cold water feed to the toilet which was dripping, but because they weren't there to notice, it had made a big puddle that had gone through to downstairs.
The plumber sorted the leak and I mopped up the puddle, wrung out their bath mat and put it to dry and then cleaned the floor once the plumber had left. They are lovely tenants and I know that they would have let me know immediately if they'd spotted a leak before they went, so it's just one of those things!
I've got loads of stories, but I appreciate they're probably only interesting to me!
Anyway, I hope you have a safe and quick journey home, Sassy.
EDBD - I'm one of the few landlords who does allow pets in my area, but I might have to draw the line at goats!!! 😂 I've an absolute horror story about a tenant and her pet rats so I tend to stick with the tried and tested cats and/or dogs scenarios now!
Have a good day everyone!
