Ha ha, Sassy, just seen your comment about your bedroom being a sauna! Great minds and all that...! 😂
But seriously, 40 degrees?!!!!! Right, I'd better stop my moaning!
Had to collect DD2 from school just before lunchtime as her ear was really hurting her. I don't know if you remember, but she had earache six or seven weeks ago and it turned out she had an infection in her ear canal. The GP also commented at the time that she still had a perforation in her eardrum, from where her grommet (which fell out nearly a year ago) was originally. I said at the time I wasn't happy that was still there, but she said not to worry. I just had a feeling it was going to cause problems...
I managed to get her in to see the GP at 4.30. She had a look and couldn't actually see DD2's eardrum because there was so much wax in there. Which is precisely the problem that meant she had to have grommets in the first place. She also said her ear canal was inflamed again but wouldn't prescribe the antibiotic spray we had before because now she's worried that the hole in her eardrum could still be there and that could make things worse if we going spraying stuff in there!
So basically we have to manage it with Calpol etc until we get in to see her consultant, which isn't until next Wednesday. School won't give out non-prescription medicines, I don't think, and DD2 can't manage without them because once it's been two or three hours since her last dose, she's in pain again. I'm giving Nurofen in between Calpol doses to try and keep on top of it.
I think I'm going to ring school tomorrow to explain the situation and seek their advice. In any case, I think I'm best keeping her off tomorrow so I can keep an eye on her and see how she goes.
I'm just not sure where we go from here as she's already had two sets of grommets over the past few years and I seem to remember the consultant saying that if it happened again he'd have to do something more drastic. Poor DD
.
Ooh Sassy, I've just remembered a tip I saw on FB for a DIY air conditioner!
Get a couple of empty 2L bottles, fill them with water and leave them to freeze. Once they've frozen, get them out, stand them in a washing up bowl and place them in front of a fan. Cold air will then be blown around and voila! An air conditioned room! I'm going to try it tomorrow, I've got four bottles freezing at the moment so I can rotate them. I'll let you know how I get on!
EDBD - hope all okay with you?
Catch you tomorrow!
