?

I love mine

Haven't used mine for 9+4 months, and, much as I prefer it to the alternatives, I don't miss it!

hunkerdave · 26/02/2007 19:23

Oh, bet you're looking forward to using it again really PC

Overdue, eh? That sucks

Was thinking the same thing earlier today! I love mine too, I only bought it after reading MN thread about them. They're great. Also weirdly primal, though...

Err, no, hunker: 9+4months

If this time is anything like the last two, I should be resurrecting my relationship with my Mooncup in 2-3 months' time.

hunkerdave · 26/02/2007 19:28

I think it's pretty fascinating, but I wanted to see my placentas too

I'm confused, PC - 9 weeks and 4 months or Something Else? [thick]

Surely PC has a four month old child (at least that is how I read it...

I've only used mine once inthe past 21 months, and it was the only good thing about normal service being resumed.

Spidermama · 26/02/2007 19:37

I think I might need the smaller version now. I've had an op' you see which has made me somewhat smaller in that department and old mooncup doesn't seem to work anymore. It goes in but it leaks.

Spidermama · 26/02/2007 19:39

Congrats PrettyCandles. I didn't know you were pregnant. How time flies on MN.

sparkymummy · 26/02/2007 19:44

Not brave enough to try a mooncup, but can anyone recommend any of the reusable san towels as figure I might give them a go now we are using reusable nappies on DS

tribpot · 26/02/2007 19:46

I got mine from FrannyandZooey and I love it. Never mind the environment, it is by far the best form of 'sanitary protection' (whatever that means) that I've found. In fact I went to see The Vagina Monologues at the weekend (featuring Ms Carol Smillie) and she did the monologue that mentions 'f**king great wads of cotton' (i.e. tampons) and was v tempted to shout "try a mooncup love".

sparky - take the plunge, honestly. I struggled on the first morning to install it but after that it has been fine, and really comfortable. I think if you buy online you get a money-back guarantee, so there's nothing to lose! (Have also converted one person this month, she's also dubious but willing to give it a try).

jeangenie · 26/02/2007 20:01

I have used mine for two cycles now and am an absolute and utter fan (think I have converted one friend so far too)
I expected some minor issues at the start (having read some of the hilarious threads on here) but it was boringly straightforward, and not one leak, not ONE
I did buy a reusable towel to try too but the mooncup (or divacup in my case actually) is so reliable I haven't needed it
wish I'd found out about them YEARS ago
(I pass the sanpro aisles now and positively smirk in the knowledge I will NEVER buy another disposable product in all my remaining reproductive years )

best thing mumsnet ever did for me

tribpot · 26/02/2007 20:29

Ditto jeangenie, wish I had discovered years ago. Huzzah for Mumsnet!

Tatties · 26/02/2007 20:34

Oh Mooncups are fab

Jeangenie, I also smugly bypass the sanpro aisles. So liberating

FrannyandZooey · 26/02/2007 20:39

Oooh, good thread

(and fancy bumping into you here Ms Tatties )

I will hopefully be able to offer Mooncups at trade prices again soon. Will let you know as and when.

Aloveheart · 26/02/2007 20:40

mine leaks maybe i put it in wrong, .lol. tmi

jeangenie · 26/02/2007 20:49

oh yes Dior had forgotten that, our loo at work takes absolutely ages to refill, and there is only one so it's a bit embarrassing if someone is waiting

still, small price to pay for never having to touch those horrid sanitary towel disposal units, which ime are normally anything but (sanitary that is)

Hmm... loved mine at first, but last month I had real problems with it on the first couple of days of AF that I'm feeling a bit disillusioned. Maybe it was just particularly heavy, but major leakage issues...

Re the blood at the bottom of the toilet - try putting a single sheet of loo roll in first (flat across the top of the water!) and then it doesn't all sink straight to the bottom?
