Our beautiful leather clad lovelies have hung up their pauldrons, wrapped their thighs around their wenches horses and rode hard for the border. There'll be no more snogging in cupboards, or noshing on the Queen...s awful cooking. But we're not sad...oh no, we can keep this nonsense going ad infinitum, and there's plenty to look forward to as the Swaggerers stagger on in post muskie oblivion.

So keep the Cardinals finger flowing, and help yourself to the complementary Hot Chilean Nuts.

Now....S1 Ep1 anyone??

Omg is that him saying gitanes? Grin

Strike doesnt smoke gitanes usually does he? b&h I think is his brand or something rank like that. Tbh the amount of smoking he does has made me almost want to start again. I never feel like a fag when I see someone doing it in the flesh, but always do if I read it or see someone smoking on screen.

Ive finished all three books now (bit of a speed reader) and it's been like a magic-roundabout whirl of him drinking pints of doom bar, eating takeaway and chain smoking.

the amount of mcdonalds he eats made me almost suspect jkr had done a deal with them

Go on then apes what plot hole have you found? Tell me in code to avoid spoilering the others...

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2016 11:45

Just wondered if there are any Strike book fans posting regularly on mn so had a search. Answer is basically no, but I did see one thread (old) where they were diacussing who would be good to play Strike...

A young Robbie Coltrane and

Jay Rayner!!!!

Bahahahaha!!!!

can totally see it

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2016 11:48

Im actually thinking more along the lines of (stay with me) a much taller, beefier, younger...Sir Alan Sugar.

Beaten-up face and pube-like curly hair, check.

I am very glad Tom got the role. Grin

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2016 12:27

Hope LetUs is out of TK Maxx by now.

Grin Madame

Tom saying Gitanes. No, Strike doesn't smoke them, but I can't remember what he does smoke.

The plot hole? It's really the whole premise of the book, why he got involved in the first place. But like I say, I've probably missed something. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2016 12:40

Back home empty handed.

DH is watched the football. We have full commentary from him including details of team news. A big sigh from me has finally made him get the hint that I don't care.

It's a couple of years since I read the first one but didn't Lula's brother ask Strike to investigate? I'm really looking forward to it!

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2016 13:21

Ah...yes it was a bit implausible alright...I think I remember the reason being given that the brother thought he could manipulate strike cos he thought strike was a bit of a hopeless case...? Confused

JaneElk · 10/09/2016 13:37

Oh I do adore hearing him say Gitanes....but then again, I'm such a berk for The Burke he could read the frigging phone book and I'd find it alluring.

Yes Apes, that confused me too...not why Strike got involved, as he was bought with a massive wad of fifties, but why would the brother of all people instigate an investigation in the first place ? Narcissism maybe?

How's the hair looking Badders? Is it pink/purple/green/turquoise yet?

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2016 13:46

OMG DH JUST SHUT THE ACTUAL FUCK UP!!!!!! They've got a full commentary team on the TV, we don't need one here too.And he keeps dropping his hands heavily on to the settee either side of him, making this thudding noise. It's doing my fucking head in AngryAngry

I think that was the gist Elk. I'll have to read it again when I've finished Career of Evil.

Badders123 · 10/09/2016 16:23

Alright elk?

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2016 18:16

I've loads of birthdays to buy for before Christmas and I seem to have a mental block that I can't concentrate on Christmas until the birthdays are done.

Although, were the Star Wars and Avengers baubles from Poundland?

Enjoy the next book Wicked.

And on the subject of clothes shopping, I am trying to find in shops near me - as opposed to online - a basic, proper short sleeved, crew neck, white t-shirt that's also a bit fitted and a decent length. You'd think I was after something a bit exotic.

Speaking of being after something exotic...

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2016 19:57

I may have just been looking at S3 on DVD.

I just made dinner. And it was delicious! And I didn't set fire to anything! And I didn't burn myself!

In fact if Aramis finds a woman being a bit crap at cooking attractive, then I am in! Grin

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2016 20:17

CC - That works Helen, but it was a bit of a risk, when he didn't know how good Strike was. And why would he want him framed for the murder? Did he know about the will and would that preclude the brother? I'm over-thinking this. I'd better get started on the next one.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/09/2016 20:22

I started the next one now Smile

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2016 20:35

apes - yes, he knew about the will. The will would put the suspicion on the real brother cos real brother was the beneficiary - that's what he wanted strike to find out, so that the real brother would go down for murder and he would inherit instead. But yes, that's what I thought - bit of a risk as he didnt know how good strike was. And mainly, he already had the money, and the police were happy with suicide, so he was already totally safe, surely??

I remember he thought strike would be easily manipulated cos of being the old school friend of the dead other brother. Hmm

Tbh apes, in terms of plot holes, I think there's quite a few in 2 and 3 as well...think you just have to go with it, like The Musketeers!

helen patty is good. However, ds can be a right little sod to him at times. He is very patient and we are trying to train ds to be more gentle bollocking him
