Hello Tinks - all fine with me. Nothing for DD at all.

mysonsmummy · 01/02/2007 13:36

we probably wont get it anyway but i put no. the shoot for M&S is next week so may hear something. UA dont usually let us know if we dont get it though. just shows what being with a good agency is all about. we sat on the books of another agency for two years with not even casting.

ellismummy · 01/02/2007 13:42

mysonsmummy, what agency were you with before? glad hes doing well now.

Lolly68 · 01/02/2007 13:55

NewdkMum - posted this on MSN site too but I had PP delivered to me yesterday and your DD is on the cover! She looks lovely. She is laying down on her tummy and looking right into the camera. Its a beautiful pic.

housemum · 01/02/2007 15:48

Just picking up from the last thread - anyone care to elaborate on Boden being "notorious" for their castings? As in taking a long time presumably? Just wondering as would love DD to have some work after over a year (though must check Mother and Baby mag this month as they quite often rake up old pics of her!)

NewDKmum · 01/02/2007 18:03

Lolly - thanks for that! I have been down to the kiosk this afternoon to pick up a copy and it was a really proud moment seeing her little face! And on top of that she said her first word today (mind you, I hadn't expected it to be 'cow' (in Danish), but there you are)

littlemadam · 01/02/2007 18:49

Oh will look out for her!! Best of luck everyone with castings, we were up for Boden but shoot is when we are in Oz, so not for us!!

Nice to see this thread going a bit, I haven't been on for ages - I do find MSN hard to keep up too, just showing my age!!!{grin]

littlemadam · 01/02/2007 18:50

AAggghhhh!! Can't even do emoticons -

mysonsmummy · 01/02/2007 21:59

littlemadam - did they say what date the shoot is in april. we are on hol then too so agency should have checked before sending us for casting. err ... but really i shoud tell them our hol dates are i suppose.

after telling them they couldnt cut ds hair we prob wont get it anyway. has anyone ever done it - where is cat usually filmed. has anyone seem most recent cat they certainly love kds with prominent teeth.

housemum · 01/02/2007 23:04

Something in the back of my mind thinks it might be around 6th April? Not sure - I'm sure I remember thinking it was just before her birthday on the 13th.

Last year's winter catalogue was somewhere snowy so I was thinking "whoopee we might go abroad!" but I asked if they knew anything about the shoot and she said she thought it was for a studio shoot Saying that, my DD is the youngest age group (almost 4) so maybe they wouldn't take them abroad anyway as they're more unpredictable. The last catalogue had some in the snow, some in a "historic" British town (by the look of the street signs) and some indoors that could have been a studio.

Tinkerbel5 · 02/02/2007 08:56

housemum if your DD got a shoot abroad im sure you would have to chaperone her, that would be great

mysonsmummy they might want to have a little snip here and there, I wouldnt be too keen either.

hi ..the shoots boden do abroad they use children form the country were they do the shoots.a family member works for them and has just come back from south africa.she only works on the adult photo shoots.which is a shame.she is off to the u.s.a next month i asked her if she needs any normal looking woman as i am free. lol

housemum · 02/02/2007 09:47

Oh how disappointing (I like the look of the Jojo Bebe catalogue as they sometimes say things like "thanks to Club Med for the location" - just wish it could be us one day lol!) Still a warehouse in the East End would be good as dd hasn't had a job for so long ...

marymay · 02/02/2007 10:02

i did ask her if she knew the person that was doing the casting for the mini boden .as i read a few from here and on the msn group had been to it .she said she didnt but would try and find out.never hurts to ask

mysonsmummy · 02/02/2007 10:45

h/m - your probably right about the date as that would make it in the school easter holidays. we are on holiday w/c 9th april - just shows how important it is to let them know your holidays dates.

marymay - when ds did a job for woolworths quite a few of the kids there had parents or parents friends who worked for them. be nice if you could get in that way with your friend. suppose its easier for company as they dont pay agency fees either.

littlemadam · 02/02/2007 11:25

Mysonsmummy, don't know the exact date but it is before the 20th which is when we get back. We worked with the Boden team on another shoot, they were really nice. Hope you guys get it.

They go to South Africa for Summer too I think, isn't it something about the light being really good there?? Lots of companies go, the photographer from the BB modelbook went with Next childrens shoot in November, they do use local models tho.

totallyfloaty35 · 02/02/2007 11:55

Still not got U/A pics,Alysia says by monday now

marymay · 02/02/2007 12:17

totally..i bet they are going to be great.worth the wait. i rememeber your dd from last year.

mysonsmummy..a couple of years ago me dd and ds did a shoot for her for a m&s mag.they wanted a normal family.as she was working freelance for them.she asked us.thats what gave dd the modelling bug and she wanted to give it a go.
now they are with a agency they couldnt do it anymore.saying that she only really works on adult clothes shoots now.

totallyfloaty35 · 05/02/2007 13:13

Well got the pics from U/A, and can safetly say they are some of the worst i have ever seen of her, aaarggh i want the old ones back up

Tinkerbel5 · 06/02/2007 13:13

totally have you spoken to the agency, and what did they say about them if you did ?

BassMama · 06/02/2007 20:00

I am interested in my DS doing some child modelling and was told to post on this thread.

I dont have a clue where to start so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

totallyfloaty35 · 06/02/2007 20:35

Hi bass, best thing to do is email or post some pics to the top agencies, these are Bruce & Brown
Kids London
MOT junior
Urban Angels
oh these are all London agents if you live up north then there are others that would be better

housemum · 09/02/2007 13:28

Hi BassMama - things to consider before embarking on modelling:

Does your child take a good picture (Seems obvious but some of the most gorgeous kids just look different in a still pic)

How does your kid act with strangers? Castings can be very quick in-and-out so if your child needs to get used to someone it could be hard

Can you be flexible at short notice? You may get a call at 5pm asking you to go to a casting or shoot the next day.

If your child is school age, how are the school about taking time off?

Don't do it for the money, just look on it as a way to get some different pictures and something for them to look back on, and have some different experiences. You may get many castings before getting an actual job. Castings are either unpaid or a nominal fee of about £15 - you have to make your own travel arrangements. If you get a job, photo work may be from £50 to £90 for a couple of hours work. TV/film/commercials pay more but are harder to get. Again, travelling is not always paid, or may be paid but only from inside the London area (assuming you are looking at London work - don't know the rules re elsewhere)

Not trying to put you off but though this might be useful! My DD is 3, we have had good fun and she has some magazine and book pictures to look back on as well as a fleeting view in a commercial.

Have fun!

emmaanglaise · 09/02/2007 14:24

Hi,
Has anyone ever worked with Childsplay modelling agency in Kent? - I sent a pic of my ds in to them and they want to meet him.
Any advice woud be useful!
Thanks

housemum · 09/02/2007 17:18

sorry - not heard of that one.
