I've only been on mn for a few months - August I think it was. Who else is a newbie? It's hard to tell from posts who is new and who is 'old'! Also, do any other newbies find

2 your threads fall off the active convos at an alarming rate

3 you spend ages thinking of something incredibly witty to say and no-one notices?

Flickin' hell, I left this thread on Friday after about 20 messages thinking it would die and come back to find it's getting on for 400! I thought an argument must have broken out between the clique and the newbies.

That's better. I would join you all in the bar for a bit of bonding but by that time in the evening my teenage DD has commandeered the PC so I have no chance of getting on it again!

I've put myself on the bottom of the list - been MNing since Oct. Quite lucky so far re: not killing too many threads - not sure whether it's because of my incredible wit and incisive comment or whether the 'oldies' are just being kind to me because of my age!

When I first started I used to say I was new and got lots of welcome messages, which was lovely.

How about if MN Toweres introduced a 'Newbie' emoticon that could be added to posts until new MNers felt comfortable - then all the oldies would know to treat the newbie kindly.

Can I just say, at the risk of reigniting all the other gubbins, to whoever it was that said that 'everyone has good and bad days on MN' fair enough, but to be attacked for making a simple mistake? It ain't 'appening'. I know, I know, I shouldn't keep on about it, but it was niggling me, and I can't keep me trap shut. Anyway, last word on subject. Ta very much and all that.

you did something tasteless, people queried that without knowing whether you knew about the previous debates or not. and do you know what? they are entitled to do that.

anyway, you didn't know about last week's In The News discussions(despite by your own admission having been around for a month or so) and you agreed that it wasn't in the best taste and so the debate moved on, far, far away from your original post.

i've posted in support of you a number of times, tried to explain your position as i saw it, but you're now not being fair, either to the women here or to yourself.

As i said before, i can understand that you are taking it personally, but there isn't any point if the responses weren't directed at you personally. just forget about it and dive in on the threads where you can offer something, honestly, no-one will remember that thread in a week. Definetly Miss.Mistletoe move on and it'll quickly be forgotten. I made a mistake a few weeks ago and apparently insulted without meaning to the FLY girls. I worried about it, like you're doing, but honestly it's all water under the bridge now.
Stop trying to defend yourself and the arguemnt will die out, if you argue the pint someone will always come back to have the opposite say, so let it die.
