I'm taking my car for an early MOT on Friday (council run centre!). Last year I was robbed by halfords of £400 as I drove in on the last day before my MOT ran out. This year I'' doing it early and at the place where they can't do repairs so they won't lie to me!

Oh it's all good Drink - don't worry! I feel your pain re MOT - got my car back today £250 with another £300 due to be done in the next month or so.

I have a pile of ironing to do, I really cba and, for a moment, considered washing it all again so I could tumble dry and not have to iron.

I had a shite morning at work but fortunately recovered my sense of persepctive and humour by midday. Bloody local authorities and red tape. I shall revisit it again tomorrow and doubtelss get all sweary again.

yep mavis blood sucking bastards. Do check for the next time if you have a council run MOT centre near you! I found out about them on the money saving expert website. they can't do repairs for general public (usually they fix buses and council vans, etc) but can check over your car. if there's sth wrong you have 10 days to fix it somewhere else and comeback with no re-test fee.

I serviced my car few months back and that was £300 I think (I blocked out the memory). they mentioned £1000 of other repairs but I said I'd just do the more pressing ones. I actually dream of getting a new car. didn't want to start with the finance malarky but apparently you can get good deals when you go straight to manufacturers - few grand off, petrol for a year, road tax included, maybe insurance.
