Yes it is.
According to him it's still too much! It's true that our food Bill has gone up but it's down to forces beyond my control I'm afraid. Food prices have gone up what? 30-40% in the past few years? And ds1 is entering puberty and eating a lot more than he used to.
I put my foot down a few months ago and told him if he could do it cheaper to do the shopping himself...so he does!
He spent £80 yesterday in aldi and asda.
So I have £20 left for the bank holiday week!
Ain't gonna happen Smile

MadamedeChevreuse · 23/05/2015 09:13

God, what an arse! Flowers Food is food. It's a basic! It costs what it costs - provided youre not buying kilos of beluga caviar which Im sure youre not, there's no way round it, no?

Btw I hope your aunt is not staying with you? Shock

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:24

Nooooooooo
God, no.
I simply can't be around her at all ATM.
She was vile when my dad died. You would not believe some of the stuff she said/did.
:(
I might mention your comments wrt food to Dh - he needs to understand this isn't me being profligate :(
I buy non branded stuff mostly. Except a few things the kids are fussy about...fromage frais, soup, porridge etc

MadamedeChevreuse · 23/05/2015 09:34

Bads glad youve decided that wrt aunt. Life is too short to make time for people like that.

I spend similar to you on food and theres 3 of us! Tbh its not branded stuff - fresh fruit, veg, meat costs loads more than packet shite from aldi. Thats what makes me sad about food in this country.

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:39

Exactly.
Ds2 eats so much fruit.
We eat meat - Dh would not be pleased to go veggie :)
decsnt food costs soooo much more than additive laced shit.
It's v depressing.
And don't get me started on the price of organic and gluten free stuff!
Jesus!

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:41

Yes it is too short.
It saddens my mum I think, but I'm afraid that's tough.
She actually criticised the eldest son of my late aunt for talking about her at the graveside (a eulogy)
Evil fucking bitch.

MiladyBeaWinter · 23/05/2015 09:41

Morning. Did a sneaky resetting of DS's gro-clock last night as we have sussed he knows he can get away with waking up when it shows 1 star still to go. It worked - extra hour in bed Grin

Hope your DP stops being a twat Madame. Not sure if it is helpful but I know two families who do Eurocamp every year and swear by it specifically for the kids. One lot go for three weeks and drive all the way from Edinburgh, so must be something in it?

We spend about £130 a week at supermarket. Though that usually includes some form of random from either the clothes bit or buying a present for a party etc. And wine. It's gone up hugely in the last 2-3 years, partly as DC bigger but mainly costs.

Bads when does the wicked Aunty bugger off home? Hope it's soon. Flowers

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:47

I really think you will end up having a great time madame.
I think I need to tell Dh the budget needs to be increased to £125 p/w
He will be thrilled Grin

FolknNorah · 23/05/2015 09:51

morning fuckersz!

yes apersz that is exactly the one Grin

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:56

Oh my mil does the PA "is that new!?" If the kids are in something she hasn't seen before.
Now, usually it's a piece of clothing that was either;
A gift
From e bay
From the next sale
So I smile sweetly and say "yes it was such a bargain!"
Ds2 needs new school shoes....he came home on Monday night with the toe unraveling! So Dh superglued it and it's lasted the week thank goodness.
That will make him cross too. Sigh. He just doesn't seem to get the dc grow and need new clothes. Admittedly ours have both had growth spurts lately, but still...

Baddz · 23/05/2015 09:56

I have aldi peach Bellini for later!

MadamedeChevreuse · 23/05/2015 10:04

She criticised him for giving a eulogy at his mothers funeral?! Jesus christ!

You know some people are just broken. Sad but true.

Thanks all. Had another talk with dp and I think he's coming round now. Told him not to create a shit atmos all weekend for ds's sake.

I think we will do the eurocamp despite the cost - do eurotunnel instead of ferry to save ££££. For next year I have learned (belatedly) there are tricks you can do to save. Eg rent the tin hut direct from the owner, not eurocamp. Or go for a cheaper campsite like sparks said.

Yy to eurovision! What time tonight?

Baddz · 23/05/2015 10:11

Yes. In many ways she is to be pitied :(
You'll have a great time, I'm sure. I have heard good things about eurocamp.
Must get out of bed.

FancyFancy · 23/05/2015 11:08

Morning, I feel a bit ashamed at how early you all got up Blush. I was woken by the cats fighting on my legs just before 9, little sods.

Speaking of little sods, glad your DP is actually talking now madame, how childish of him to sulk for so long.

Sympathies to all re: the food budgeting. Ex drove me mad a few years ago complaining about the amount spent on food, as he was the one with the expensive tastes and would refuse to economise - every evening meal should have meat in it, for weekend lunches he would get ready made sandwiches/snacks rather than make his own and he got through a lot of wine. My grocery bills are so much cheaper now even with two cats added to the household.

mrsb - very crafty! I'm glad your plan worked Grin

I will be Eurovisioning tonight, but it sounds like I will be the sober one! DD has a friend staying over, so getting pissed up on a bottle of pink fizz would not be advisable.

FancyFancy · 23/05/2015 11:11

Ooh, letus - lovely N&S link there. It's making me think a rewatch would be a good idea. I need some FAF in my life & there don't seem to be many new Aramis/Santi pics around at the moment.

LetUsPrey · 23/05/2015 11:25

And something for all the Marvel wenches

Hoping to Eurovision here. Thanks for the heads up on the Swedish entry Norah. I had a look on iPad. Not bad. Looking forward to seeing him full size

MadamedeChevreuse · 23/05/2015 11:32

Harrrrr letus! Potato boy looking good there I feel. Grin

fancy this is the second time of attempting to post this gif for you - from La Vida de los Peces. The film where Santi perfected The Stare. GOD BLESS THAT FILM.

Baddz · 23/05/2015 12:30

I swear....I just don't get it
He is soooo ordinary looking!
Confused
Lovely pics of santi though...mmmmm
Been washing, tidying, cleaning Etc
Had a shower
Been to shops
Must try and get ds2 off his ipad!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 23/05/2015 12:33

I budget £100 per week for both of us. Yes, it could be less but it's the food on the ho that does that.

When DD was tiny and I was on mat leave, we had £70 per week on food, including nappies and travel! So that's around £55-60 on food. It was stressful and depressing; it'd be soul destroying to do it indefinitely!

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 23/05/2015 12:35

Holy Jesus. Andres.

Madame you don't need to go for a cheaper campsite - just shop around with different companies. They all do pretty much the same campsites but the prices vary.

Baddz · 23/05/2015 12:40

Nice to know wenches don't think I am spending too much!
Sometimes on mn it seems that people can make meals from dust had hairspray and feed their family of 8 for £30 per week!Shock

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 23/05/2015 12:51

Shopping for 7 costs me £150 a week including toiletries & cleaning stuff. That includes alcohol every week & meat probably 6 nights out of 7. I don't buy organic anything though.

Baddz · 23/05/2015 12:53

Where do you shop sparks?
I love in a village so.limited choice.
No.farm shops or anything like that
There.is.a farmers market....£3.50 for a small.jar.of relish? Shock

LetUsPrey · 23/05/2015 12:58

Can't. Stop. Watching.
