Plus money saving cosmetic/beauty/style tips?

I have just posted this on the other thread but IMO

Get up early, before the kids so you can grab some time to sort yourself out. If you put a bit of effort into looking and therefore feeling good I swear you will bounce down the stairs with renewed vigour for the day ahead.

Have shower, shave your hairy bits.
Apply tinted moisturiser, mascara, bronzer and lip gloss.

Run the GHDs over your hair. Even if you have NO time at least tie it back and GHD the front so it looks "done".

Paint your toe nails and your nails. Even if just a coat of clear gloss. Helps them grow too if you paint them as less likely to nibble them/break them.

Jewellry makes a huge difference. Jeans and a top looks a whole lot different if make up is on and a few pretty accessories.

Carry a nice bag instead of changing bag?

Quootiepie · 07/11/2006 13:23

Vaseline on lips - 99p a little pot, and its just fine to wear around the house and out and about And last forever.

Tutter · 07/11/2006 13:24

exfoliate

weekly

FIMBO · 07/11/2006 13:26

No spaghetti strap tops unless you are size 8/10, unless underneath a wrap top etc.

Wash hair every day.

Shoes/boots polished night before.

Tutter · 07/11/2006 13:27

oh yes fimbo

shower and hair wash every morning

otherwise i feel like a minger

Miaou · 07/11/2006 13:27

Wear a nice perfume. It will instantly lift your mood and make you feel fab and glam

lulumama · 07/11/2006 13:30

have a big luxorious bath one night a week ( shower the rest of the time or quick bath!)

do :

shaving of underarms & legs if you do so

exfoliate all over

good moisturising bath soak

deep condition & face pack

followed by eye brow tweeze & clear polish on fingers & toes

so its a weekly maintenance thing that means you are pretty much presentable most of the time!

FIMBO · 07/11/2006 13:34

Agree with Lulu and have your eyebrows waxed every 6 weeks or so.

ludaloo · 07/11/2006 13:40

I do the same as lulumama...
I also wear nice underwear when I think about it...makes a big difference...

Bugsy2 · 07/11/2006 13:44

I do my whole routine in just under half an hour.
Shower & wash hair
Dry hair (this takes 15 of my 25 mins)
Apply mascara, liquid blusher & lippy
Get dressed.
If I wear shapeless blobby clothes & no make up, I feel invisible & unnatractive.
I go to work 4 days a week but on the other 3, I wear dark navy or black jeans (flattering for those with big bootys like me) & a t-shirt or shirt with a bit of shape to it. If you are feeling a bit porky, then don't wear tight things that make you feel self conscious. Better to go bigger - but not baggy & then you won't have bra straps showing or rolls of flesh pressing where they shouldn't be.

munz · 07/11/2006 13:48

how long does it take u to get into the habit of gettin up b4 the kids thou, when the boy's had a real bad night it's all I can do to come down in my dressin gown shovel the food in his mouth and try to wake up with a cap of tea! lol.

TheHighwayCod · 07/11/2006 16:28

i wash ahir every other day
am minger

TheHighwayCod · 07/11/2006 16:28

adn plan in your head WHAT oyu are going ot wear before you get up

Bozza · 07/11/2006 16:33

I do too Cod. I do not think eveyday is necessary and with the amount of times I have to go swimming with the kids is not really practical. I wash and dry and wear it down one day. Then the next day I wear it either up in a pony tail, partly up (a la Susannah), or up with one of those big clips. Sometimes on this second day I straighten the front, which I think is a good tip.

TheHighwayCod · 07/11/2006 16:33

oi jarm
what are your sizes please?

Bozza · 07/11/2006 16:34

DH laughs at me because I sit on the side of the bed starkers and stare at the wardrobe for inspiration.

moondog · 07/11/2006 16:35

Greet your other half at the door with a clean pinny and fresh application of lipstick.

Bozza · 07/11/2006 16:36

she is 16-18 and 5ft1 - she has posted that already.

Mum2FunkyDude · 07/11/2006 16:37

Make time to exercise, walk 10 min a day. Your body releases endorphins that makes you feel good. Drink enough water to help your skin rehydrate. DH and I take turns on the weekends for a "day off" one day I look after Funkydude and DH can do what he wants, I take the other day and DH looks after FunkyDude. We also spend every evening from 7-9 together (eating, talking etc.)

nutcracker · 07/11/2006 16:38

Agree with the jewellry one, makes what ever you are wearing look so much nicer if you have a nice bracelet or necklace on.

expatinscotland · 07/11/2006 16:38

Matching underwear!

It doesn't have to be expensive.

shazronnie · 07/11/2006 16:41

mascara makes your eyes look more wide awake - even when you are knackered!

expatinscotland · 07/11/2006 16:42

Optrex eye drops if you're feeling especially tired, hungover or rough
