Haven't RTFT yet but...

10.3 miles baby Grin & 1030 calories run off.

I am now hobbling round house in pain & quite hysterical at the thought that I've got to double that, then do half again. In 4 months time. Shock [vomit]

FancyFancy · 23/12/2014 12:25

Oh ww that is lovely. Are you actively looking for somewhere or just window shopping?

I've just been embarrassing mum of teen boy. Ds wants to go to a New Year's Eve party at a girl's house. I've very briefly met her, but know very little of her or her family (she's from the girls' school linked to his boys' school) & so wasn't keen on him going. I've started to hear tales of parties for DCs in his year (not his friends admittedly) where there's drinking so am a bit wary. He's desperate to go (think he's got his eye on someone Wink ), so I asked for the phone number of the partyholder's mum. I've just called her up to get the lowdown on alcohol & supervision Grin

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 23/12/2014 12:37

sparks you are an inspiration. I'm not sat here eating paninis and brownies at all. Are you going to be really hardcore and run on Christmas day too?

fancy I would probably be doing the same if my boys were older.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 12:37

Yes I'm looking although this might be a bit big for me. I would love to have a little house/cottage of my own instead of renting.

To be able to buy a house I actually have to get help from my mum since I'm single and don't have a very high salary (although a normal salary for a woman in a female dominated profession) so it's really tough to be able to get a loan.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 12:59

Oh and I don't mean she will give me the money but we will be a co-borrower (?) but I'll be the one paying the loan.

I discovered that The English Shop here in Uppsala sells mincemeat in jars so I might try to make those mince pies Xmas Smile

FancyFancy · 23/12/2014 12:59

sparks, I'm feeling very inadequate now!

thanks mouse' good to know I'm not being weird Grin

Sad re getting loans ww, I hope you find somewhere that's the right size for you & keep posting the links!

The upside of DS going to the party (if he can sort out lifts) is that DD will then have a Musketeers marathon al on our own, yay!

FancyFancy · 23/12/2014 13:02

Think that 'co-borrowing' goes on quite a bit here too ww - as well as helping with the deposits, many parents act as guarantors on their children's mortgages.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 13:17

Feels sort of weird since I'm 43 Xmas Hmm I can buy a really cheap one of my own though, in the middle of nowhere or as we call it Xmas Grin

QueenOfNewYorkLyndie · 23/12/2014 13:19

I like the Köks GrinGrinGrinGrin

SantisLittleHelper · 23/12/2014 13:21

No I am not running on Christmas Day! That's my long one done for the week, will do shorter ones Sat & Sun & possibly Boxing Day before we go out.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 13:32

Sorry Lyndie that's not the same as "cocks". Seriously, you wenches have such filthy minds Xmas Grin

FancyFancy · 23/12/2014 13:39

what an excellent word ww! If your mum is anything like my Dad, she'll he happy to still have a chance to help - I'm 45 & he likes the opportunity to be 'helpful dad' on occasion Grin

FancyFancy · 23/12/2014 13:43

Isn't that why you're here ww? Wink

Right, time for lunch - I'm hoping some food will wake me up a bit & settle my stomach.

Oh look who's here, he's eyeing somebody up!

Good news....BIL is awake. Groggy but talking. So relieved.

Well done Sparks....Last time I did 10 miles I was hobbling for days, it's bloody hilly around her though. I really need to get orf moi arse and do some exercise to counter the personal bodyweight of mince pies I intend to consume over the next week.

Thanks for the link Carolina. I do like it when Athos gets all punchy, GMTRH it does.

Nice property porn wicked, and if you're going to make mince pies you'll need to buy some pastry mix Xmas Hmm

In other news, the mother(TM) is....true to form....gradually trying my patience. I'm up to snarky comments ground out under my breath through gritted teeth. Todays choice conversation:

Me: mum could you turn the heat down under that pan of soup?

TM(nto):

Me: It's the knob that's pointing up.

TM:

me: turn it to the right

TM:

me: that's it, you've done it, thanks

TM:

me: no.... you've just turned on the gas, turn it off

TM:

me: mum...what are you doing?, turn the gas off

TM: I just did

me: no, the one next to it

TM: eh?

me: oh FGS

TM: you said turn it to the right.

me: yes, turn the knob to the right.

TM: well that's what I did, I turned the knob to the right

me: I didn't mean turn the knob on the right, I said turn it to the right

TM: that's what I did....I did exactly as you said.

me:

TM: you're the one that didn't make it clear

me: never mind, just forget it

Xmas Envy

Like I said....it's going to be a loooooooong week

RudolphTheRedNosedElk · 23/12/2014 13:50

Ooh yes Fancy I'm the knob to the right.....just out of shot

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 23/12/2014 13:59

Oooh, now that's halted my homicidal rage fancy.

I was just about to kill the useless sack of shite dp of mine. 1) stop playing assassins creed when you're supposed to be looking after the kids. 2) stop conspicuously doing nothing whilst I'm running around like a blue arsed fly. 3) stop turning the heat up. It's like the fucking tropics in the living room.

I am coming down with a cold and my head is fucking killing me. I don't care if you had a sub optimal nights sleep and are feeling a bit tired.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 14:05

Xmas Smile
TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 23/12/2014 14:14

Badvocinapeartree · 23/12/2014 14:21

Did the big Xmas grocery shop.
Did a smaller Xmas grocery shop.
Took more washing to mums to dry.
Went to gp and chemists to sort prescriptions.
Just back home now.
Dh is being a shed loving fucktrumpet as per.
I am going to watch all the the stuff I have recorded over the past few days and ignore the twat.

QueenOfNewYorkLyndie · 23/12/2014 14:36

Excellent news Elk. I did giggle at your mum and the stove incident, hope the week goes ok.

My Mooncup has arrived Shock it looks quite big? ShockShockShock

SantisLittleHelper · 23/12/2014 14:52

RudolphTheRedNosedElk · 23/12/2014 15:04

Me: I'm going upstairs to wrap some presents, shall I put the telly on for you?

TM: oh no, I shan't bother...I don't know what's on

Me: ok

TM: oh, I may as well

Me:

TM: I don't know what's on though oh no, I don't like that, turn it off.

MadamedeChevreuse · 23/12/2014 15:08

lyndie how big are we talking exactly?!?

Yay elk!! OH and btw just let us know if you want your mum adding to the list, kay?

Omg ww that is TOTAL house porn. I love the little bridge!!!!!! How much is 840,000 kronor in pounds?

Food bought. Turkey in fridge. DP en route to airport to pick up DSSs. Squidgate smoothed over. Fridge too full of seafood (= Spanish Xmas food). Food that wont fit in fridge stashed in boot of car.

Xmas traditions here - we are making it up as we go along because this year is our FIRST XMAS WITH DS IN MY OWN HOUSE, IN THE UK!!!

Grin Grin Grin Grin

So thank you all for the tips - keep them coming. Planning on doing the reindeer / Santa food and jingle bells. DS is a total believer (4). Decided against the snowy footprints as its about 12 degrees today so snow probably unlikely on Xmas day.

Previous xmas traditions of ours involve desperately trying to fit Xmas presents in stingy Ryanair baggage allowance and sneaking Xmas booze and ham through laughably lax European airport security, then cramming into my ILs house with eleventy billion teenage nephews and nieces for a week.

Badvocinapeartree · 23/12/2014 15:19

Elk...I feel your pain :(
Mum is really really hard work ATM and I am trying to be compassionate but...no decs, no cards up, she says she feels worse this Xmas than last.
I miss him too :(
