Oh, yes, for other meals it's usually cold meats, pasta salad, sausage rolls etc
And biscuits
And chocolate
I have Bellini for Xmas day :)

SantisLittleHelper · 22/12/2014 17:51

I opened my £40 box of chocs last night.

I'd rather have freaking Roses Hmm

#ClassyWench

SantisLittleHelper · 22/12/2014 17:55

Hahahahahahahaha! Oh Connie is SUCH a wench....

Grin

Bra fail

We3KingyofOblomovAre · 22/12/2014 18:03

I did a £180 sainsburys shop and came home with a bottle of baileys, 2 cheeseboards, some pigs in blankets and little else.

Today I did a £90 sainsburys shop and got a leg of lamb, some potatoes and some parsnips.

I really aren't doing very well. I still haven't wrapped any presents or written any cards.
Things aren't going so well!! I just can't seem to 'get with the programme' .

We3KingyofOblomovAre · 22/12/2014 18:05

Laughing and loving all the discussions of preferring roses to posh chocs, and ww wanting to know what we eat!!

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 22/12/2014 18:07

Connie Xmas Grin

When I was little we used to leave a bowl of porridge outdoors for "gårdstomten", don't really know what you call him, he takes care of the farm and the animals and if he doesn't get a bowl of porridge he could get pissed off and trash the place (not that we lived on a farm) Xmas Grin. Although cookies sounds nicer Xmas Smile

Aldi choc is gorgeous! And cheap :)
Ob...fuck it. It's Xmas. Chill out!
I'm feeling pretty zen about the whole thing, oddly. Both dc are now ill...nasty cold and cough which means, of course, that I will be stricken by Xmas day...
Dryer people coming next Monday...mum is drying stuff for me so that's ok for now.
Going food shopping on Xmas eve morning early on....just going to get enough til Saturday.
Meh.
Seems precious little Xmas spirit around ATM tbh.
Am struggling to feel it this year, although after the awful news from Glasgow I am counting my blessings :(

Badvocinapeartree · 22/12/2014 18:12

WW....in our last house we had a brick fireplace and hearth.
One year I got a pair of Dhs boots and shook icing sugar over them to leave "snowy footprints" :)
Ds1s face was a picture!

Badvocinapeartree · 22/12/2014 18:13

Oh! And I forgot the carrot and water for the reindeer!

GoTellItToTheMavis · 22/12/2014 18:18

AARRGGHHHH! The man has just phoned to ask if it's now going to be too dark to work in my garden? Of course it bloody is.

So, after spending all day watching tv waiting around he's now going to come at 8am tomorrow instead. I now have to get my act together and do the Christmas food shop this evening as it's drain man and the dcs back tomorrow.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 22/12/2014 18:26

Aaaaaaw Bads Xmas Smile

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 22/12/2014 18:28

Ww our special Christmas tradition is to have lasagne on Christmas eve and watch all the batman films from Burton right through to Nolan over the Christmas period. It started as our anti Christmas Christmas when we first got together and its carried on ever since.

Watching the first batman now and jack nicholson is dancing to Prince. Xmas Grin I feel so festive.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 22/12/2014 18:33

Anti Christmas Christmas, like the sound of that Xmas Grin

This is typical Swedish Christmas food

SantisLittleHelper · 22/12/2014 18:34

Our Christmas Eve tradition is breakfast out, tea-time carols & Mass & Gavin & Stacey Christmas special in eve Grin

Have often done the snowy boots also. And have the most lump-in-throat video of my oldest 2 age 5 & 3 brushing their teeth & hearing the sleigh bells on the roof....they make sounds only dogs could hear.

It's just not the same any more Sad Make the most of it, wenches with believers.

Badvocinapeartree · 22/12/2014 18:40

And of course carols from kings :)
That food looks amazing WW.
Am trying to convince Dh and dc we need to holiday in your neck of the woods :)

Badvocinapeartree · 22/12/2014 18:41

Oh sparks...we did that with ds1 one year. He was 3. He ran to the window with such a look of delight and happiness....

QueenOfNewYorkLyndie · 22/12/2014 18:42

Oh Mavis that's annoying!

I just need veg and some bits for making puddings so I'm going out first thing tomorrow morning. Alone!

Terribly sad about the accident in Glasgow, it's never ok but at this time of year it just seems so unfair.

Brew and [Lindt balls]

Thinking of you Elk.

QueenOfNewYorkLyndie · 22/12/2014 18:51

Iced my cake. Made and ate more mince pies!

Badvocinapeartree · 22/12/2014 18:53

Oh feck it....forgot I told mil I'd make mince pies for Xmas eve.
Bugger.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 22/12/2014 19:02

Read about the accident, how terrible! Sad

I hade some Christmas cake at the Afternoon Tea we went to, and it wasn't bad at all. It was chopped up fruit and stuff in it with icing on top, that's Christmas cake right? Is that the one you made Lyndie?

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 22/12/2014 19:09

I choked up reading that Glasgow council offered to turn the Christmas lights off as a mark of respect. Flowers

QueenOfNewYorkLyndie · 22/12/2014 19:10

I'll post a picture when I've got all the decorations on Wicked but yes, rich fruit cake, marzipan and Royal icing. You only need a tiny bit but it's nice with a cuppa later on when you're too full for more food but you need a wee something!

Who else made one? Comtesse?

Badders I tried a new pastry recipe for the mince pies and it was lush. More like shortbread than pastry - yum.

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 22/12/2014 19:14

Do you make your own mincemeat lyndie or use premade?

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 22/12/2014 19:17

And now I want a mince pie, never had one but it sounds delicious Smile

Bads I think you should have your next vacation in Stockholm, it's gorgeous and we could meet up Smile
