Afternoon all. Sorry for my absence but have been snoozing on settee. Got lots more prescription drugs to take but that's not important. I will get better... eventually. What is important is reporting back properly about last nights events.
I am still going over the events last night and I can remember more details now I have had time to rummage through my addled brain. Somewhat less fangirly than my rather embarrasing post from last night
As Apes said in her post, we were late arriving due to slow service at the pub where we had decided to eat. I was devastated at first when Mr Apricot informed us that Tom had done a sort of meet and greet on his arrival as I assumed we had blown it there and then. Not meeting him and then having to come on here and tell you that we had failed in our wenchery was almost too much to bear. Worse still when we found ourselves right at the back of the church with the occasional glimpse of Tom. What I was not aware of at that point and the onset of the service prevented me finding out for a while was that Tom had told Mr A to seek him out after the service.
Tom read first though I didn't here much of it. I heard his voice but not all the words - if that makes any sens whatsoever. I am hoping that there will be a video at some point of the whole event so I can listen to it again.
To be honest though, (sorry Tom) my favourite reading of the evening was Juliet Stevenson reading a (can't remember age of child - might have been 7) child's interpretation of the nativity. Why do we have to lose the innocence that allows such freedom when writing or speaking.
The choir really gave a good show and we also had to join in toward the end with the Twelve Days of Christmas. Audience participation is a wonderful thing. We were all seated for this but on the line 'Five Gold Rings' of each verse the assembled congregation were to stand and then sit back down for the remainder of the verse. I saw more of Tom during this than for most of the rest of the service other than when he read as he was visible bobbing up and then down again.
Anyway... you probably aren't interested in that so I will move on.
At the appropriate time, we followed Mr A down the aisle to where Tom was standing speaking to a group of people. As again Apes has already said, Tom excused himself and came over. After Mr A had introduced Apes to Tom attention turned to me and it was at that point that I told Tom he probably shouldn't get any close to me than he already was. Undeterred by the risk of catching my germs, Tom simply said 'Why not' and almost before I could answer, stepped forward and hugged me and then kissed me. (Beardy moment - very soft and not at all scratchy). I thought it was very sweet and kind of him to do that and he obviously didn't want anybody to feel left out. It was at that point that he also mentioned he was just getting over something and that therefore his immune system was probably high. I wonder if he will be thinking that though if he has gone down with Man-Flu by the end of the week.
I was too dazed and amazed at this point to see whether he was introduced to Elk but I believe he was. Elk will correct me if I am wrong.
We then stood there with arms around each other while basically Apes and Mr A took over the talking part. I was quite content for the time being to stand there cuddling and being cuddled by Tom. I piped up occasionally but mostly just stood there looking up at him. Not surprising given that he is 6' tall and I (as evidenced by Apes pic) am not. I do think actually that I fit in quite nicely tucked under his chin!
After around five minutes, it was time for the photo. Tom didn't take his arm from around me but simply pulled Apes in to his other side and we all three snuggled up. We tried to encourage Elk but, as you know the poor girl was suffering from a touch of what I can only compare to stage fright. A shame but she will get another chance - SHE WILL!
After the photo, we expressed our thanks and that was when I got my second kiss and second beardy moment. It was then that I remembered I wanted to ask him something. I asked why there were spoilers for episodes up to and including Ep 3 when we haven't even seen Ep 1 yet. He was quite taken aback and seemed quite surprised at who had allowed it. He asked me something specific and when I answered said, "Yeah... that's right at the start of that Episode." I told him I only mentioned it because it seems to defeat the point of them making a series and keeping things under wraps during filming only for so much to be released ahead of the series premiere. Then he cheekily asked 'Are you one of those people who can't avoid clicking" and grinned - BASTARD!
All in all, what could have been a disaster was transformed into a wonderful experience thanks to Mr A who is my new hero!
I have no pictures which is why I am so grateful to Apes for posting the one that she has. That will remind me of my evening with the three lovely ladies from the Tav and the two lovely men that I met last night.
I think that covers it.
