Did you see it on the B&B website?

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 10:01

mysonsmummy the last couple of casting DD has had has been after school, the one time she has a commercial casting I took her out for half day and said that she had the dentist, but I wont be able to do that again though.

mysonsmummy · 03/10/2006 10:21

i havent got a clue about our schools policy - how do i find out? i would have to pick him up at 2.30pm he finishes at 3pm - whats the best excuse to use? if he gets a job then i will have to ring in sick i suppose.

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 10:21

mrsratty......have e-mailed you to your hotmail address

julie4travel · 03/10/2006 10:23

mysonsmummy - opticians?

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 10:23

mysonsmummy.......I am fairly sure that for only half an hour the school will not have a problem. Be honest about it and face the job possibility later. That way you can also judge their response now.

mysonsmummy · 03/10/2006 10:24

tink - the casting is between 3 and 4 but as its other side of london - its a shame as its only about half hour i have to take him out before end of day

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 10:27

mysonsmummy you could tell the school that your son has a doctors appointment, and that you forget to tell them sooner at least that way he isnt missing a days schooling, and at that time of day in reception they are winding down anyway.

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 10:28

mysonsmummy Im still pondering whether or not to be honest with the school if I have to take DD out in the future.

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 10:34

Ragamuffin - I sent you some pics to get your opinion.

RE taking them out of school there are only so many times you can lie and when your childs picture is all over the place they will put 2 and 2 together!

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 10:42

I would be honest with shoots, but not castings, if shoots are in school time then there shouldnt be a problem using the 10 days school holiday rule.

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 10:44

also, the agencies tell you to not always be honest cause the child will often be working without a license, and in that case people can be warned over it, and clients can be sued.

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 11:12

mrsratty.....have e-mailed you again!

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 11:15

mysonsmummy......I would start out being honest about it and gauge the school's response. If he has a stage later where he gets very busy and they get concerned about his absences then reconsider how you deal with it. He is only in reception and the amount of school missed for this is not going to make any dent on his education!

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 11:23

Ragamuffin - emailed you back!!!!

littlemadam · 03/10/2006 11:51

Mysonsmummy, I think you ask the school in principle what their policy is for time off for shoots.
DS's school is very strict on holidays, but had a chat with the head and he said it was a great life experience and confidence booster and would be happy as long as it wasn't more than say a day a week (DS wishes!!) He did say he was much happier if parents were honest as if they lied about it he wouldn't be so understanding!! I was really surprised!

Good luck for Littlewoods! Well done Elle too!

Quad/ellesmum, will sneak a peek today.

NewDKmum · 03/10/2006 12:35

Just gotten back from Littlewoods casting - nice studio . There were 7-8 little girls there. My dd was fitted into some clothes and had her picture taken after about 30 mins wait. Very nice people, I thought.

dylansluckymum · 03/10/2006 12:40

hope the littlewoods casting went well for everyone!

ellesmum well done for yesterday sounds like it was great experience despite the travel. best part i suppose is that she enjoyed it so she'll want to do it again!!

i'm very excited ds has junior shoot tomorrow!!! can't wait. can anyone tell me anything about it? it's in shepherds bush studio...

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 13:13

The people we've met on Junoir shoots have always been really lovely and your son will wear really cool clothes!! I love Junior shoots, Good Luck!!!

marymay · 03/10/2006 13:42

hi all.just had to tell someone ive just seen my ds pictures in bhs off him dressed in his halloween outfit. its the first picture ive seen of the stuff his done so far.ive been walking around the shops smiling to myself like a crazy woman.

dylansluckymum · 03/10/2006 14:23

aw congrats marymay you must be thrilled! i can't wait to see something of ds' come out the wait is killing me!!! did you ask for a copy or take a photo?

ellesmum · 03/10/2006 14:37

hi just got back from the littlewoods casting, we got there at 10.30 as kids told us to but littlewoods wernt expecting us till 2.00pm! we were there for about an hour and half as they were doing all the babies first, anyway they tried on quite a few outfits on elle, some were too big though so will see.

dylansmum - well done on the junior job, how exciting!

marymay · 03/10/2006 14:40

dylansmum.the lady in bhs said that it was the only one they had and i should go in and ask again nearer halloween.i will have to take ds up to see it after school i think i will get him to pose next to it and take a photo( sad i know)

dylansluckymum · 03/10/2006 14:45

marymay i would do the exact same thing! isn't that why we do this... because we're so proud of them and want the world to see them and to have lovely keepsakes for when they're older(and to torture them when they bring first gf/bf home)!!!

thanks ellesmum i really am over the moon. i know they don't always use the pics but i really hope they get some nice ones of him. b&b said it's good to do as many shoots for them as you can because they have the best photographers. hope elle gets the littlewoods job, can't see them passing her up really!

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 14:46

dylansluckymum......Well Done on the Junior shoot for tomorrow! Have lots of fun.

marymay.....so glad that you finally found the photo of your DS. Don't worry most of us know that feeling of seeing something they have done. I'll never forget the day I found both of mine had made the cover of a catalogue from 2 seperate shoots. I must have looked mad carrying about 15 catalogues out of the shop!
