lanismum · 02/10/2006 22:39

lanismum · 02/10/2006 22:40

lanismum · 02/10/2006 22:41

oh and elles/quads, saw the article, lovely pics!

housemum · 03/10/2006 00:45

Just another note re Miss British Isles - can't remember what date I sent off an entry - it was the date it was all being discussed on here, and after they had said that entries were being held over till next year or something - thought I'd send one out of curiosity, heard nothing for about a week, but have just had e-mail back to say she's been shortlisted. So looks as if they are just going down the list to see who pays up first??

mimi1uk · 03/10/2006 09:05

housemum u r the second person to say that it is such a joke!they are just using the people that pay etc, o that they have the prize money, if they are still using applications after they said it was shut!

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:29

One of the girls in my DD's year has been asked to an interview with B&B can anyone tell me what it was like. It's quite exciting to think that DD could do a job with a friend of hers!

Good luck for all the Littlewoods castings!!

julie4travel · 03/10/2006 09:33

mrsratty- with my sons interview with b and b they really just chatted in their office to mainly my son and me, I flicked through the magazines which had their kids adverts in. She asked if its what he wanted to do etc his likes and dislikes. then she took him to do a snapshot photo to put on their website and asked me if there was any questions etc. The team are very likeable. Good luck!

yackertyyack · 03/10/2006 09:34

morning all,
The British Isles comp is being advertised on starnow again today!!!! I also got a text lastnight telling me we had made the final and to give them a call in case i hadn't got the email!!!
MIMI - The booklet is lovely isn't it!!
ELLE/QUAD - Will look out for your article

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:36

Thanks Julie, my friend went for an interview with Rascals and was really put off because they did a group one with about 10 kids and she found it really impersonal. It sounds as if she will really like B&B.

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:38

With the BI comp they didn't tell anyone that there was a fee when applying so I'm sure that many people pull out for that reason and also some people apply just to see if they will be picked even though they don't want to go which is probably why they are still looking for people. Seems very wrong as they had told someone that they had closed there applications.

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 09:39

Morning all!

mysonsmummy.......Advice already given about stations is correct. The National Rail station Dalston Kingsland is the closest, but it is still a good 10 minute walk from there to the studio. Old Street is further, but as on tube network may be easier......them catch a cab........plenty around from there! Good Luck for Wednesday.

Ellesmum......so glad yesterday went well. Doing her first TV at her age is really great and will be a fabulous experience which will only help in the future. Glad you enjoyed it even if it was a very long day. Good Luck for Littlewoods today.

Housemum.....Good Luck for your A&J Audition today!! Is this for your 3yr old DD? If so all she needs is loads of confidence. Don't be tempted to speak for her........let her answer questions herself.

lindac......Sounds like a great casting! Do you know the name of the film? The studio is really easy to find and you can usually find parking inside the gates. Otherwise nearest station St Margarets is a 2 min walk away only.

mrsratty......Can't wait for Junior to hit the shops. I don't subscribe. Maybe if the pics are very good you could scan her face and use this as your headshot of her on the B&B Website. I see a lot of people do this if they have a fab pic from Junior.

julie4travel · 03/10/2006 09:39

yackerty - i saw that aswell this morning, i think so many people have decided against it and they could be worried on the prize draw fund!

Mrsratty- Trulys Scrumptious interviews are group ones and more like a creche! We did Norrie Carr aswell (before I decided and they were also a more personal one on one apointment) I prefer those ones as they seem to get to know the kids better.

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 09:40

mrsratty on the assessment they take a few photos of the child to see how they photograph, and they use one of them to put on the website, then they contact you a little while after to say yes or no to taking the child on.

Tinkerbel5 · 03/10/2006 09:45

mysons mummy if you dont want to catch a cab you could always get a bus from Old Street, something like the 248 or something, but its quite a long road and the studio is on the corner. If you think you are going to get confused then get a cab instead, I did this and it cost me a little but was worth it cause we wanted to get there qicker.

mysonsmummy · 03/10/2006 09:45

can anyone let me know where i stand with taking ds out of school for castings and shoots. is it best to be honest? or if i take him out tomorrow for casting can i then take him out again later this week for shoot? thanks

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:46

B&B are just using a picture I took myself as we didn't go for an interview. It didn't occur to me that I could use a photo from one of her jobs, I have a couple of good ones so I may do that.

julie4travel · 03/10/2006 09:49

mysonsmumy - i personally would try not to take out of school for a casting yet definitely would for a shoot. I have previoulsy asked the agent about this and sometimes a little white lie is in order if its a non licence jobbie. If its a licence one then obvioulsy you have to get the schools permission. I try to do all dental appointments in half term so i know i could if need to use that excuse! Not that we have had the work to feel the need to yet i suppose its there. Its a hard subject to know what to do for the best.

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:51

mysonsmummy - I'm always honest about it and the school are fine. It does depend on the school though, the days DD has off are taken from the 10 days authorised holiday every child in her school is allowed to take.

julie4travel · 03/10/2006 09:55

mysonsmummy- just to say my sons school classes all his modelling time off as unauthorised absence hense my choice in when i tell them or not! His old school was a lot better with it. His school now worries about league tables and stats hence them being a bit funny on it

Ragamuffin · 03/10/2006 09:55

mrsratty.....I think that's a good idea. While your photo is lovely, it doesn't do her any justice. She is much prettier than she looks in that pic.

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:57

One woman I met on a shoot said that her school was happy for her son to have time of for modelling as it a life experience yet did not allow anytime off for holiday, they vary so much!!!

mrsratty · 03/10/2006 09:59

Ragamuffin - which photo did you see of her that I took?
